Check this out, then. What you quoted above was from a report that basically laid out the situation that Petraeus’ command faced. It is being erroneously attributed to his statement to Congress by lefty blogs. His actual statement is repeated at the link.

Actually, that’s not what Petraeus said. Rather, it’s pulled from the 56-page Central Command “Posture Statement” filed by his staff with the Senate Armed Services Committee. ”

Max Boot destroys his own case.

Max Boot uses the old dishonest technique, so favored by liberals, of trying to transfer from disputing the relevant facts to arguing about the source and irrelevancies. Of course, what else can he do, as the words from Petraeus are clear as can be.

He says that the words are not directly from Petraeus’s mouth. So what. Max Boot, himself admits, that they are form the Central Command “Posture Statement” filed by his [Petraeus's] staff. If it’s his staff’s, it’s his. That’s the way it works in civilian life and it’s certainly true in the Army.

Accusations of anti-Semitism against the president are over-the-top [I don't know about that], like the accusations of racism against anyone who sharply criticizes Mr. Obama, but it is certainly true that Mr. Obama has enjoyed the company of anti-Semites in the past — a “milieu,” in the words of New Yorker magazine, “supposedly composed of incendiary preachers, black nationalists, fading Weathermen and . . . Palestinian intellectuals.” (Milieus are fashionable on the Upper East Side and Chicago’s South Side.) Mr. Obama has explained that while he did indeed submit his family to the moral guidance of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and he sat through 20 years of the preacher’s Sunday-morning harangues about perfidious Jews and other evil white folks, he never heard the anti-Semitic rants, thus establishing a mark worthy of the Guinness Book of Records for sleeping through more than a thousand fiery sermons.
