Biden: People are skeptical of what we’re doing because of … Bush

posted at 8:21 pm on March 26, 2010 by Allahpundit

Sure, pal. Whatever you need to tell yourself.

VPOTUS blamed the George W. Bush administration for any unpopularity the current administration has suffered.

“We inherited a cynical republic, and I can’t blame them,” he said.

“Eight years of collapse, eight years of being misled about wars.”

He cast the Republican political strategy since last January as irresponsible cynicism., and boasted that the recent passage of health care reform might dispel it.

“They [Republicans] still believe cynicism will prevail, that the government can’t do anything, that we’re a bunch of socialists – all these things you hear. I think the healthcare debate put a big stake in the heart of that argument.”

Have a look at The One’s job approval dating back to inauguration day. 68/12 to start, as I read it, which was no doubt due in part to the huge relief many people felt at having Bush finally out of office. The new golden age of competence and clean government was about to be born, remember? If anything, the public cynicism inspired by Dubya made the idiotic rainbows-and-unicorns utopian message of Hopenchange that much easier to sell during the campaign.

But then, via Innocent Bystanders, a funny thing happened.

un

And then, with unemployment still skyrocketing, we embarked on our long national nightmare of adding a giant new entitlement to our already unsustainable basket of federal benefits. And we did it with backroom deals and arcane parliamentary procedures and pandering to special interests and lots and lots and lots of lying about cost — essentially, the precise opposite of rainbows and unicorns. And we were asked to pretend that everything we know about health-care reform is wrong:

chart

And then, to cap it all off, a nice steamy dump was taken in the Senate on the foundational message of “post-partisanship” upon which Hopenchange was built. So, that’s my wild guess as to where the cynicism really comes from, but I’m open to persuasion on the point. Any takers?

I don’t hate much…but man…

On a serious note, I actually think Joe has a brain injury from his aneurysm. No, I am not joking.

Aviator on March 26, 2010 at 8:38 PM

Oh, you beat me to it, and you spelled aneurysm correctly, too. Really, though, I think that Biden has always been a nitwit yet really impressed with his own intellectual “prowess.”

IT’S BEEN A FRIGGIN’ YEAR!!!!

ISN’T ALL ABOUT JOBS, JOBS, JOBS?

In two years…will it still be Bushes Fault?

I guess that would be Bush’s fault.

I really don’t think the blame Bush excuse is working for them any more.

farright on March 26, 2010 at 9:53 PM

There was a blog that mocked the “blame Bush” mantra through absurd hyperbole. I don’t know if it still is current. Biden must have gotten his Daily Briefs from this source: http://blamebush.typepad.com/

onlineanalyst on March 26, 2010 at 9:54 PM

OK, fess up. Who let these five year olds in the White House?

Yellowdog12 on March 26, 2010 at 9:54 PM

Well, at least they’re not blaming Reagan “budget cuts” anymore.

Although you never know….

SteveMG on March 26, 2010 at 9:55 PM

I cannot figure out why so many people want a “post-partisan” government. There is another name for post-partisanship; authoritarianism.

The idea behind post-partisanship is New Class authoritarianism. It is the belief that the ‘correct” people, with the “correct” degrees and the “correct” opinions from the “correct” schools already have all of the best answers for society’s problems. If we’d only do away with the silly Rep/Dem factionalism, we’d be able to solve these problems in good order.

The post-partisan motto — “Shut up.” he explained.
The post-partisan symbol — The “anti-fascist” shouting down a speaker he doesn’t like.
The post-partisan paradise — Top down, completely regulated, Washington knows best, and engineered American decline. For our own good, of course.

“Post-partisan” isn’t a variation of bipartisan, it is not inclusive, it is not democratic, and it doesn’t care what you think.

As I said on Twitter, this claim by Biden is like the rapist saying she asked for it.

Any cynicism from the Bush era was “Bush stole the election”, “Bush is stupid”, “Bush lied”, “Bush went AWOL”, “Bush was behind 9/11″ and so on. I could go on but I’m making myself ill typing out their insane charges—and all of those were at least tacitly embraced right up to their very tippy top echelon of Dems.

KittyLowrey on March 26, 2010 at 10:02 PM

I guess it’s Bush’s fault you have the perpetual foot-in-mouth disease, eh Mr. Biden?

It’s quite telling of one’s character (or lack thereof) to blame others for their troubles.

Tom and crr6, at a minimum…

Schadenfreude on March 26, 2010 at 9:31 PM

Presumably you mean TomShipley and crr6, since I don’t often go defending the Big Bush Blamer.

AP nails it pretty well. Obama sold himself as a new breed of president, so it’s inevitable that once people realize he’s just the same old corrupt and lying politician in a slightly updated package, that they might get just a tad cynical.

I think Fox news should have Joe Biden appear on one of their shows for a fifteen minute segment on a weekly basis. Fox can call it: “Keeping up with the Biden’s,” or “Joe Biden’s thoughts on the Republic,” or “Where exactly are we at now Joe?”

What say you America? Doesn’t everybody want to know what the latest big f’ing deal was all about?

Does anyone know if the dumbest VP in American history was flanked by his caregivers when he hacked up that gem?

R Square on March 26, 2010 at 11:11 PM

I can certainly understand the rage brewing in the country against all of the communists and socialists known as Democrats. I view Obama in the same way that I view Ossama Bin Laden; an enemy of the United States. Now that I believe Obama and his merry little band of communist are out to destroy me and my country I think all is fair to rid the government of them. They are taking the country over by bankrupting it. It is hard to recognize it as an all out war since it is not a conventional war.By the way, I have come to believe Obama is more of a threat than Bin Laden. Their corruption, lies, and deceitful ways have earned the contempt of the American people. November can’t come soon enough! We will see then what the people think of these crooks!

Disagree. Obama is a red ideological warrior engaged in a counter revolution whereas Biden is more of a Chauncey Gardiner-ish “where’s the food” rube.

Biden’s neurons randomly fire like the 4th of July and he would have a 50-50 chance of self destructing every time he was in front of an open mic. Every presser would be a game of political Russian roulette….riveting reality tv.

R Square on March 26, 2010 at 11:30 PM

What more could nyone with a funtioning brain expect from the same folks that blame the depression on Hoover. FDR and his pals immortalized his predecessor in this same way until finally WWII bailed him out.

Remember, it’s the white 50% of O’idiot that’s the problem. As my brother always reminds me that he voted for the black half.

larvcom on March 26, 2010 at 11:33 PM

Uhh, according to the chart here, it appears that Obama began to collapse the economy as soon as he got the Dem nomination in 08. I know that’s when I started to circle the wagons.

What kills me is….the morons that still believe the hype, inspite of the evidence laid before them.

The mere fact that those out there that blindly support this, knowing what we all know….doesn’t say alot for their intelligence. Biden at least as an aneurysm to blame his stupidity on. What’s the Obamabots got to blame theirs on? Bush?

The American people are pissed because there’s a Communist in Chief in the White House. He’s destroying the US to convert it to a worker’s paradise, whatever the hell that is supposed to be. I don’t think the Soviet Union was a paradise for anyone. God almighty, we’ve become the biggest joke on the planet. November can’t come soon enough….

adamsmith on March 27, 2010 at 7:09 AM

If Ear Leader is impeached and convicted, or if he resigns, then Biden just may slide on out due to “health reasons” Nancy Pelosi then becomes President.

Plenty of ifs, I know. But food for thought.

Truth in Packaging

Can we pass a law to force this clown to wear a beenie with a propeller to accentuate the hair plugs, botox and filthy mouth?

Then we could get some joker makeup for The One.

And Lady Ga Ga videos have some great outfit ideas for Pelosi, Reed and the other Dems.
