Obamateurism of the Day
posted at 8:05 am on March 24, 2010 by Ed Morrissey
The fumbling of the US-Israeli relationship may be one, long Obamateurism, but if so, it’s comprised of a series of amateurish stumbles along its trajectory to disaster. Consider last night’s meeting with Israeli PM Binyamin Netanyahu. In his interview with Bret Baier last week, Barack Obama insisted that relations between the two countries remain strong despite disagreement over an Israeli plan to build more housing in Jerusalem — which could only have come as a surprise to someone with absolutely no knowledge of the issue. But if the relationship was really that strong, why did Obama refuse to be seen with Netanyahu and pose for pictures with him, as is customary when friendly heads of state visit the White House?
Obama and Netanyahu conferred for about 90 minutes in the Oval Office, but in a break with custom reporters were not invited to see the close allies shake hands and begin their discussions. The White House had no immediate comment on what was discussed. Netanyahu did not leave the White House for another two hours after his formal talks with Obama, but what he was doing during that time was not immediately clear.
NBC’s Chuck Todd tweeted from the White House (via CentristNet):
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu departs White House after meeting President Obama, with no word on progress, no photo op, no press access
So Obama doesn’t want to be seen with one of America’s closest allies. Who will Obama allow himself to be seen with? Gateway Pundit reminds us of this photo:

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

Heh, well… y’know how it goes. Sometimes friends disagree. And sometimes friends don’t want to be seen with certain friends when they’re trying to impress the cool kids….
apostic on March 24, 2010 at 8:10 AM
Nah. He loves all the liberal jews here who vote for him.
Not a semite, but a total fool and a wimp, for he is afraid to stand with Israel. He doesn’t want to face the chagrin of the worldwide left.
blatantblue on March 24, 2010 at 8:10 AM
This is not an Obamateurism. This is the first POTUS who hates Israel. It goes along with his Muslim upbringing. The filthy lying dictator is a jew-hater and the disrespect toward Netanyahu was deliberate and done to signal to Muslims worldwide that he is one of them and will support Palestine and Iran before he lifts a finger to support Israel.

Only if you believe it’s unintentional. More and more it is clear to me that Dear Liar is intentionally sabotaging our traditional alliances. Because He wants to cripple America.
The question is why Hillary is going along with & helping to inflame this. Bill Clinton never took on Israel this way (& he wanted nazionalized health care as well.)
I Think Hillary is undermining her boss by inflaming the differences between the US & Israel. She can pin all the blame on “I’m just doing what my boss asked” and resign and prepare a 2012 campaign to run against The Whine. Only problem is that things may get so bad too quickly that American Jews won’t accept her explanation. Otherwise, they won’t accept the “just following orders.”

Obama is a secular progressive who worships himself. He views Israel like most liberals: they are aggressors and the “Palestinians” are victims who get a pass no matter how vile their behavior. He pretends to be sorta religious (because atheists don’t get elected) and he pretends he doesn’t despise Israel, but I’m not buying it.

Until there is a real answer, they deserve all of the “Obama is a secret Muslim” crap.
myrenovations on March 24, 2010 at 8:37 AM
While Obama may not think that he is a Muslim, and Americans may not regard him as a Muslim, the law in Islam is that a person born of a Muslim father is a Muslim and is not allowed to convert to another religion. This means that Muslims regard him as an apostate Muslim and subject to the death penalty (unless they regard him as “undercover” and infiltrating the West).

Cody1991 on March 24, 2010 at 8:44 AM
The view in the ahadith of Muhammad (Book 33, 6223 of Sahih Muslim al Kitab ul Qadr) is that everyone is born a Muslim, but it is his or her parents who pervert that child into something else. And seeing as he was raised in a mixed culture of Islam and Christianity, only to be brought to the US and raised around Christian grandparents, it’s hard to see how he can remain a Muslim.

The majority of American Jews currently is secular and liberal and votes democrat almost reflexively (although I dare say even they may not stomach barry in 2012). However, a very large and growing minority in American Jewry is religious and conservative and greatly honors and appreciates the support that righteous gentiles and many republicans give to Israel. Religious, conservative Jews (much like religious and conservative Christians) tend to have much larger families than their liberal brethren — so the trend, I believe, towards a conservative Jewish voting block can only accelerate.

If Obow is truly a Marxist, then it stands to reason he adheres to no religious faith. Marx is about politics and the physical universe; the doctrine of dialectical materialism–if it can’t be sensed or measured, it doesn’t exist.
But I do believe he came to hate Jews for what he was taught in Wright’s ‘church’ for twenty years. If I’m wrong there, the evidence he doesn’t much care our traditional allies is plain for all to see.

There is no excuse good enough for some of his political posturing. O insulted the PM of India, the PM of the UK too. This is nothing new for him and his Chicago thug crew. You can go back to Begin’s election in 1977 to find the problem. To the far left in the U.S. Likud=conservative Republicans. As long as Israel was run by Labor, with its socialist domestic policies they held their tongues, but once they were out of power, whatever pretense there was for not allowing their true feeling to come out were gone.
Clinton sent James Carville there 11 years ago to make sure Labor won the 1999 election so he’d have a more mailable partner for peace with Yassir Arafat, which would boost Bill’s chances for the Nobel Peace Prize, and we all know how that turned out. The current White House occupant has already won his Nobel, doesn’t really care about foreign policy all that much and has a cadre of Middle East advisers that makes Clinton’s group look like members of Hadassah, so naturally they and Obama are going to treat Netanyahu like he’s Dick Cheney. He’s a ‘bad’ Jew, and they think, like Carville getting Ehud Barak elected Israei Prime Minister, that by treating him like crap, they can pressure Israeli voters into dumping Bibi and Likud and installing a government that Obama & Co. can push around.

You know what? This really is a big deal. Last time I checked, this is still the United States of America and our President continues to slap our greatest allies in the face. He (Obama) is not representing this Republic with the distinction or characteristic resolve we, (this Nation), has shown for Israel since the nation’s independence.
Obama’s “get along” attitude with every foreign country, whether an ally or a sworn enemy of the U.S.—including pandering to despots like Chavez—is a dangerous precedent. If a serious conflict arises, and we need to reach out to our allies, they may be hesitant to respond. Instead, this President is tearing down relationships that have been built over decades. Powerful “leaders” have made similar mistakes in history that have led to disasterous consequences, yet history doesn’t seem to be a learning tool in Obama’s repertoire. His conclusions appear to be reached by his “experience” as a renowned community organizer, while his ignorance and arrogance of foreign affairs is seriously flawed.
As a concerned citizen, I hope our Armed Services are prepared and standing firm.
