Obamateurism of the Day
posted at 8:05 am on March 24, 2010 by Ed Morrissey
The fumbling of the US-Israeli relationship may be one, long Obamateurism, but if so, it’s comprised of a series of amateurish stumbles along its trajectory to disaster. Consider last night’s meeting with Israeli PM Binyamin Netanyahu. In his interview with Bret Baier last week, Barack Obama insisted that relations between the two countries remain strong despite disagreement over an Israeli plan to build more housing in Jerusalem — which could only have come as a surprise to someone with absolutely no knowledge of the issue. But if the relationship was really that strong, why did Obama refuse to be seen with Netanyahu and pose for pictures with him, as is customary when friendly heads of state visit the White House?
Obama and Netanyahu conferred for about 90 minutes in the Oval Office, but in a break with custom reporters were not invited to see the close allies shake hands and begin their discussions. The White House had no immediate comment on what was discussed. Netanyahu did not leave the White House for another two hours after his formal talks with Obama, but what he was doing during that time was not immediately clear.
NBC’s Chuck Todd tweeted from the White House (via CentristNet):
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu departs White House after meeting President Obama, with no word on progress, no photo op, no press access
So Obama doesn’t want to be seen with one of America’s closest allies. Who will Obama allow himself to be seen with? Gateway Pundit reminds us of this photo:

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

He can’t be seen by his Muslim brothers shaking hands and appearing friendly with the Juice.
thomasaur on March 24, 2010 at 9:29 AM
Of course, but he also attended Christian schooling, too.

Very formative years, age 6 to 10.
Oldnuke on March 24, 2010 at 9:30 AM
Carter did not become a Jew-hater until he was out of office. I guess I should have been more specific and stated that Obama is the first POTUS to have an open policy of supporting Muslim causes over Israeli security and by extension, regional stability. He and his administration have not been honest brokers with a clear bias in favor of anything that weakens Israel and strengthens the hands of the Muslims that have been terrorists for decades.

He also got an honorary degree from Notre Dame but that doesn’t make him a pro-life Catholic. In fact he used that speech to figuratively spit on pro-lifers as being outside the norm (by which he means his baby-killing circle of friends).
The fact of the matter is that Obama comes off as pro-Muslim and anti-American and anti-Christian. All the schooling and affiliations don’t hide the truth any more than Eric Massa’s claims of being straight because he has a wife and kids.

Actually, he is a black muslim of the Nation of Islam faith – he just keeps it under wraps. If not, why did he sit in that church for 20 years?
NJ Red on March 24, 2010 at 9:38 AM
Gee, a communist and an anti-Semite. You sure picked a winner, America.
Bad governance, unfortunately, doesn’t meet the criteria for impeachment for high crimes and misdemeanors. This man is an absolute nightmare and not just to conservatives but to the nation as a whole. I hate to use terms like that given how freely the left used ridiculously hysterical rhetoric about the last administration, but is there anything that can be done to force Obama out of office? I hear the Brazilians have some space in their Honduran embassy.
RobertE on March 24, 2010 at 9:38 AM
Yea, but just because you’re sympathetic to Muslims, and think social justice is the way to end terrorism, doesn’t mean you’re a Muslim.
Plenty of stupid left wing Christians feel the same way, and aren’t Muslims.
They are not tied together, the two things.
blatantblue on March 24, 2010 at 9:39 AM
When can we impeach this evil-doer?
BetseyRoss on March 24, 2010 at 9:39 AM
I disagree with you on that point. Knowing his background I think he was antisemitic all along, just hid it for political reasons. Anybody from the South knows and knew exactly where Jimmy stands. You were clear enough I understood what you were saying.

Grammar police: …it comprises a series… or …it is composed of a series… but never …it’s comprised of a series…
The POSOTUS is deliberately trying to destroy Israel. It’s a cruel joke that so many American Jews voted for him. But you know, there’s an Israel-hating segment of the Jewish population very much equivalent to the America-hating segment of the American population. What particular mental illness drives these people has so far defied my efforts at comprehension.
mr.blacksheep on March 24, 2010 at 9:42 AM
Don’t get lost in the weeds. Just as every big Steeler fan wears black & gold numbered jerseys, even though they are NOT on the team – we know where they pledge their allegiance.

I think this is more about Netanyahu, personally, than about Israel. The leftists have always hated Netanyahu. He is the Dick Cheney of Israel to them. It’s clear this Administration despises him and is trying to undermine him at home so they can get a new PM they like better. I am not surprised at all that Obama refused to be photographed with him or give him a White House press conference. But Bibi knows how to work the U.S. media anyway, and he will get his message across.
I would love to have been a fly on the wall while he schooled Obama. I’ll bet Obama had to go change his underwear after that meeting.
rockmom on March 24, 2010 at 9:50 AM
I think he posed for a picture with a statue of Lenin recently…..
Dick Turpin on March 24, 2010 at 9:51 AM
What would be really cool is to have some strategic leaks from Netanyahu about how stupid Obama is and how ridiculous and shallow he was in their meeting, sort of like Sarzoky’s comments last year. I expect we will see some of this in the next few days after this all cools off a little.

My dear, dear, dear boy,
You are almost always a voice of reason. I can’t be sure if O’s muslim, but he seems to be on board with their “destroy America” plan.
He also seems overly fond of feathers, bills, webbed feet, and quacking, so I’m pretty sure he likes ducks, and not in a “can I get springrolls with it” kind of way.
Laura in Maryland on March 24, 2010 at 9:56 AM
Funny that some still think its a fumble. Hell, I\’m an isolationist and even I can see it a mile away!
abobo on March 24, 2010 at 9:58 AM
I guess what I was trying to say on just a half a cup of coffee is:
Does his religion matter, or should we directly address our concerns regarding his sympathies and actions? That’s an easy solution that should work for everyone.
Laura in Maryland on March 24, 2010 at 9:59 AM
Now THAT’s change I can believe in.
Laura in Maryland on March 24, 2010 at 10:00 AM
I’d agree with that analysis. For political reasons, Carter was simply more constrained. In 2010 and 2012, it will be interesting to see if the Dems see repercussions among American Jews for the way they’ve abandoned Israel and are all but running out the clock to give Iran the capability of nukeing Tel Aviv.
highhopes on March 24, 2010 at 10:02 AM
Nope, leftists hate Israel too. Too protected by the US to make the concessions necessary to allow the Muslim terrorists co-equal status next door to their nation. Too unwilling to allow Muslim terrorists infiltrate their nation. Too stubborn to forgive the PLA for blowing up their children at pizza parlors.
Make no mistake about it, the only personality involved was Obama’s who is part and parcel a Jew/Israel hater.
highhopes on March 24, 2010 at 10:07 AM
You’re not going to get any disagreement from me on the left trying to reshape America, and being too wimpy to tell our critics to shove off.
However, I’m about facts, and the fact is, Obama is not a Muslim.
blatantblue on March 24, 2010 at 10:08 AM
Maybe Obama didn’t want his bow to Bibi photographed & ridiculed.
Bwahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I will never understand that estimated “77%” of Jews who voted for him. Don’t get it, never did.
Lourdes on March 24, 2010 at 10:23 AM
Shame on the Jews of this country who continue to support this rabid anti-Semite POS.
Western_Civ on March 24, 2010 at 10:26 AM
Yes and that’s always been the patently obvious aspect about him. How ANYone could even try to rethink the obvious about him is beyond me.
Just mind numbing how easily misled so many voters today are and can be. It’s really just mindboggling.
Lourdes on March 24, 2010 at 10:26 AM
Ohhh, riiiight, he’s a Black Liberationist.

During the Bush Administration, the Left was always doing an end run and negotiating with our adversaries. Maybe some GOP senators should be very publicly visiting with our ignored friends like Israel and Great Britain.

Can anyone guess where 78% of the Jewish vote went in 2008?
Star20 on March 24, 2010 at 10:46 AM
A promise he did keep. He will stand with his Muslim brothers.
capejasmine on March 24, 2010 at 10:47 AM
And I’m still baffled by it. Because I have no doubts, they’ll vote for Obama again. Knowing there could be dire consequences for Israel. I just don’t get it!

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall defer payment of any price, shuck any burden, avoid any hardship, back-stab any friend, bow to any foe, to prevent the survival and the success of liberty.

Krauthammer gave a great 90 seconds on the stupid missteps that Obama et al have done with Israel.
One sentence version:
Obama condeming Israel and silent on Iran, poor leadership.
barnone on March 24, 2010 at 11:45 AM
Yeah. He’s not a Muslim. He’s basically an atheist who went to a “Black Liberation” church for political purposes. Which is not a real church, at all.
Obama is a secularist.
But he’s obviously refusing to be seen with the Jews to make the Muslims happy, so I don’t know that his personal religion is especially relevant. Practically speaking, he’ll act like a Muslim.
tom on March 24, 2010 at 12:00 PM
I understand your point, but “Nobody messes with Joe” Biden is a total dunce and a lot friendlier than Obama. Granted Joe isn’t the sharpest crayon in the box, but I can deal with “stupid” better than “evil”.
BetseyRoss on March 24, 2010 at 12:02 PM
There’s a big difference between how Obama sees himself and how Muslims see Obama.
Obama is obviously an atheist.
And yet, according to Islamic law, Obama is a Muslim.
In the same sense, a Jew can be ‘unaffiliated’, but he would still be Jewish by Jewish law.
Phoenician on March 24, 2010 at 12:35 PM
That can’t happen unless, collectively,
WE REMEMEBER IN NOVEMBER
Though as much as I disagree with The One and his actions, this impeachment talk is becoming incredibly cheap. These are political disagreements. He won the office because we had a weak candidate — one who did not inspire people to vote for him. I held my nose as I pulled the lever.

I’ve always thought that this Nations two biggest embarrassments were slavery, and the internment of Americans of Japanese decent during the second World War.
This President has far exceeded either as far as embarrassment is concerned, not only does America think he’s an amateur, the world does too. They have little to no respect for him, and he earned it. What a frikken joke, I sincerely hope that America won’t be fooled again.
I have a high school education, with a bit of College, I’ve worked hard since I was 15. I have no doubt in my mind that I am more qualified than the WON, and if I am, our choices for leadership should be almost endless. Way to go America…

No surprise here, we would be stupid if we didn’t know by now that Obama hates Israel. He sat through hours & hours of listening to black liberation theology which is evil & anti-Semitic to the core. In a CHURCH, for Gosh sakes.
