Pence to Stupak: You traded 30 years of pro-life law for a promise from the most pro-abortion president in history
posted at 6:50 pm on March 21, 2010 by Allahpundit
Worth posting if only because one of the few things the left and right agree on today is that Obama’s executive order is essentially meaningless. Liberals, per dKos, David Corn, and Ezra Klein, think the Senate bill already does what Stupak wants it to do by maintaining the status quo on abortion funding, which means the EO is gratuitous. Pence thinks the Senate bill is a sharp break from the status quo, but since an EO is flimsy to begin with and an EO on this subject from someone as adamantly pro-choice as The One is even flimsier, it’s not worth the paper it’s printed on. Consensus: Stupak achieved nothing. Which is news to no one this afternoon except, I guess, Stupak himself. Or is it?
As I write this, Stupak’s congressional opponent has picked up two thousand fans on Facebook in about two hours. Ten thousand by tomorrow, I’ll bet.
Update: Instantly, the pressure on Obama to roll back the order begins.

Stupak Iscariot……. for a few pieces of fetus.

I wasn’t. I was prepared for this. I said a few days ago that I thought Stupak would cave, after all, he’s a Donk, and got chastised by people who really thought this guy was “fighting” for us and the unborn.
Wrong. He’s a Donk. If he really was pro life, he wouldn’t be a member of a party that is pro abortion in its platform. This was all kabuki theatre to give him cover for November, and to make it look like the Donks were fretting over the abortion issue in the bill. They’re not.

Well, it appears that we may be at the crossroads. Either this nation will be one nation under God, or become a nation under men. Time for choosing permanent sides – no more middle ground. Either you believe in state control of the people, or you believe in liberty and individual rights.
The Framers knew what they stood for and why; Abraham Lincoln knew as well; as did John Kennedy; and Ronald Reagan. Either we begin to elect statesmen, or we descend into the annuls of history. This nation is still ruled by the people. The people have one last chance if this bill passes – Election Day November 2010.
I know quite well that most of you are patriots. The time to start planning and steeling ourselves for the battle ahead is today. Get behind conservative candidates now, by donating your time and money. Never trust anyone who does not speak in plain language. Too many Americans were charmed by Clinton and most recently Obama. We can no longer elect dishonest, self-serving people to public office – at any level of government. The consequences of doing so are now laid bare.
The term “liberal” used to mean support for equality of opportunity and access. Now it has been redefined to mean state-control and socialism. The term ”conservative” now means support for equality of opportunity and access for all. Conservative means “common sense” or “prudence” or “wisdom.” We must henceforth call a “spade” a “spade;” and a “duck” a “duck.” A “progressive” is a “liberal,” and nothing else. We must not be confused or submit to politically expedient lexicon. Even the Democrats who will vote against this government intrustion and takeover, are only doing so out of fear of losing their congressional seats. If there had been no uprising from you, this takeover would have occurred last summer.
Folks as you know, our very liberty is now at great risk; greater than from previous outside forces, because this enemy is within, and among us. These liberals will reduce the United States to the status of a third world country. They are deceived into thinking that they can create utopia on earth by reducing the United States to equal or lesser economic and military power than other nations; and this is their objective. A weakened United States cannot defend our sacred liberty. Even now, Russia and China are seeking to exploit the oil resources in our own back yard, while we do not. This is the precipice to them entering our hemisphere in a strategic manner which will threaten our security. We must not bankrupt our nation if it is to survive.
It is up to us now. The liberals have struck at Pearl Harbor. They have invaded the culture; the school system; the financial and banking system; the auto industry; and the health care system. Their next target will be the energy sector.
The time to strike back at Tokyo must begin now; and we must be relentless in our offensive. Please do not despair. As Lincoln said on the occasion of his 2nd Inaugural Address, “Intelligence, patriotism, Christianity, and a firm reliance upon Him who has never yet forsaken this favored land are still competent to adjust in the best way all our present difficulty.” We will meet and defeat this threat no matter how long or difficult the road ahead, with belief in each other; our values; our history; and the same firm reliance upon Him as the signers of the Declaration, and Abraham Lincoln. Today, we must begin anew; with a new birth of freedom. I can smell it in the air; smells like victory. Let’s get after it!

Or do you believe the bill will allow for federally funded abortions?
I can see your references to God if it’s about the abortion question but not the larger health care question. I don’t think any party has a claim on the all mighty, despite what some seem to think.

1 Samuel chapt. 8, God warns what happens when you have a strong central government ie a king. When the LORD ran the show Israel’s government was limited and local.
Samuel told all the words of the LORD to the people who were asking him for a king. He said, “This is what the king who will reign over you will do: He will take your sons and make them serve with his chariots and horses, and they will run in front of his chariots. Some he will assign to be commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties, and others to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and still others to make weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers. He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his attendants. He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage and give it to his officials and attendants. Your menservants and maidservants and the best of your cattle [b] and donkeys he will take for his own use. He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves. When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, and the LORD will not answer you in that day.”
The socialists win this round.

The socialists win this round
They won more than just a “round” – Social Security, Medicare, Obamacare…….single payer……????
if you prefer to see them as rounds, suit yourself – these are corner stone legislations which has fundamentally altered the nature of the relationship between Government and Citizen as “enshrined” in the U.S. constitution. I used quotes around the word enshrined as it is practically useless now.
It is futile just to blame Democrats as socialists/communists/marxists etc – they are in power because there are enough number of people who think like liberals and agree with liberals and have voted them to power.
Think about it… when was the last time the supposedly conservative Republican party had a filibuster proof majority in the Congress ?? You have to go all the way back to Herbert Hoover’s time – and we all know how that ended
The Democrats have had filibuster proof majorities ALL three times (the Scott Brown victory changed it for a little period of time but eventually meant nothing) major social legislations were enacted. How the heck does this happen in a so called right of center nation ?
I feel terrible for all the workers in CaterPillar who must now feel horrified at the passing of this legislation – 100 mil in costs in the first year ALONE ? I see a wave of layoffs coming…
Small businesses and medium businesses just wont grow any more – who the hell is going to follow a mandate to provide health insurance to their employees ? If they already could, they would. This is going to make hiring new employees and hence business expansion even more costly – all the in the middle of one of the worst recessions.
I think this is the beginning of the end of the USA as every one has known it.

For all those people who hate Bart Stupid – i just have one question – why are you wasting your energy ?
He is a DEMCRAP for God’s sakes – what did you expect – he has supported EVERY CRAPPY piece of the legislation including mandates on individuals and businesses – and of course he supports the public option too.
And you are all angry that he weaseled out of his “principled stand ” on abortion funding ?? please, there is a lot more to be angry about him WITHOUT the abortion issue.
He comes from a socially conservative part of Michigan and all these kabuki moves were just to convince his constituents that he “tried his BESTEST” – he has proved to be just another DemocRAT
How the heck is thing going to be repealed ? Does anyone think that Republicans can win a filibuster proof majority in the Senate ? ( I hope and pray to God that they dont rubbish reconciliation the way DemocRATS did – two wrongs dont make it right -and of GOP repealed this through reconciliation, it would only confirm that the Senate has become a majority only institution – this country cannot exist that way)
In SCOTUS is our last and fast fading hopes.

I’m with Phyllis Schlafly – if you’re truely pro-life, you cannot be a democrat -the very symbol of the culture of death -they deplore life, freedom, God, the family, private charity, chastity, responsibility, all that is good. Goodness and truth to them are merely weapons to be used to use a s deceit to sway the naive, the greedy and the envious that their is a heaven here on earth -just kill our babies and give them power over all we do.

You dream! Perhaps you forgot about all those eminations from penumbras that have killed 50 million innocent American babies -fully alive -fully human. Oh Yeah! Dont forget -it codified the constitutional right to medical privacy between a citizen and their doctor -LOL!
