Tom Perriello D-VA of “If you don’t tie our hands, we’ll keep stealing” fame, kept his constituents locked out of his office yesterday. There were staff members inside the office and a group of ~15 constituents waiting outside the locked door. The sign next to the door said “Welcome, please come in.”….irony
Thanks to ted c and all the others that have made the effort to get them to listen in DC. Cindy Sheehan and 6 other anti-war protesters (out of a dozen) were arrested yesterday and got press ink; you guys and gals show up 50,000 strong and don’t even get a mention in the LSM.
So far this morning on Fox & Friends, they’ve interviewed Obama’s second cousin who’s a doctor (practicing) in Kansas and who opposes Obamacare–nice tweak. They also had the current Massachusetts treasurer who’s running for governor as an independent. He say the U.S. will go broke if we enact Obamacare. He also points out–and he should know–that the only reason that Romneycare is barely treading water is that federal subsidies for medicaid have been juiced for Massachusetts. Right now, F&F is going through the increased involvment of the IRS in enforcement of the insurance mandate.
Though they haven’t gone overboard as I suspect other stations have, they did report on the name calling (some guy even spat on a Dem rep?) at yesterday’s rally. Oh well.
Wellington quipped that he had the terrain ‘in his back pocket for a long time’ and while one side gets to choose where the battle happens the other gets to use the terrain to their advantage. Just so in Stalingrad, save that the offensive ruined the city so it could not be easily taken over or even passed through. Then the snipers were sent in and winter arrived and the place the Germans wanted to fight became their self-made deathtrap. Without being able to use armor or decent air power, it was a ground fight on broken urban terrain. It stopped up the German army and broke it… the tank battle at Kursk sealed the deal.
If you concentrate too much on an important target to you, you lose sight of the objectives and can lose when fortune turns against you. Stalingrad could have been cut off by encirclement and slowly reduced… instead it became the graveyard for replacing an objective for a political landmark.
Whenever I hear ‘landmark legislation’ that is what I think of: someone who has replaced an objective for a landmark.
And is about to lose.
Stalingrad need only be grimly held… the counter-attack was the sealant of fate. Stalingrad meant less to the Soviets but enjoyed that the Germans had created their own field to die on and all they had to do was show up to make the Germans die there. After that came the rollback.
Hold today, grimly.
The rollback must start mustering now so as to seal the fate of a spent enemy. Politics gets you far fewer actual casualties than war does… most politicians have a sense of self-preservation. Idealogues don’t. And they aren’t too happy finding themselves facing a killing ground of their own making. Keep an eye on those ones as they want to turn politics into war, and reverse civilized conduct.
The word on the street is that, even after the lackluster speech by President Obama, the democrats still don’t have their votes.
Glenn Reynolds reported– REPS. SPACE & MATHESON WILL BOTH VOTE NO. I’m also getting email reports that Rep. Lincoln Davis’s (D-TN) office is saying he will vote no, though I haven’t been able to find a published report to that effect.
There are reports that the socialists-democrats even recruited Bill Clinton to make phone calls.
God help our great Republic if this crap passes…..
Kiss your liberty a dear goodbye….. as EVERYTHING will controlled under the guise of being a “threat to public health” …
Marxists do not care for dissent, do not abide personal choice, nor respect RIGHTS as imbued by God……
Welcome in the IRS as the new enforcer as they are not obligated to abide by the 4th Amendment, welcome in a local council that will ‘manage’ costs through attrition of available choices in health care, welcome expanded invasion of your privacy in the name of ‘Public Safety’……..
Pitch-Forks and Torches, Scythe and rope, may be our only choice in the coming years…….
As Samuel Adams stated :
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.
The right to freedom being the gift of Almighty God, it is not in the power of man to alienate this gift and voluntarily become a slave.
It is a very great mistake to imagine that the object of loyalty is the authority and interest of one individual man, however dignified by the applause or enriched by the success of popular actions.
If ever a time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin.”
“A Democrat who has long committed to opposing healthcare reform legislation has advised his fellow defectors that they should vote no early on Sunday and then immediately leave the House chamber. . . . The tactics of House leaders during what is billed as a 15-minute vote are important. It is likely that some firm no votes on the Democratic side will vote right away while others, at the request of House leaders, will wait to register their no until the tally reaches the magic number of 216. Once it does, politically vulnerable Democrats will likely cast their no votes. But if getting to 216 is a problem, Democratic leaders may lean on these members to change their minds.”
I posted on Friday that this house of cards would start to come down at the very last minute. Ratdems have no spine, no morals and no judgement. That means they won’t stick their necks out even a little bit. None of them wants to be the one that “brought down” the presidency, but they’re just dandy being part of a crowd that’s “running from” a failed president.
When I was a younger nurse, pregnant with my 3rd child, I had this patient who was a old maid, lib professor. She was dying of cancer, maybe, 2 weeks from death. I was caring for her and she asked, “how many children will this be for you?” I happily told her it would be my third. This freak, with her own death looming, said to me, “aren’t you ashamed of yourself for overpopulating the planet?” I was a dem, but at this moment I knew these people were mental cases who thought they and they alone had all the answers to how everyone should live. I never voted dem again. I shudder to think of what she taught her students. They will control our every action if they could. I pray that America remains free.
PS The saddest part is she had no where to go and no one to take care of her in her final hours, but she deemed to tell me what of what I should be ashamed.
By the way, this was supposed to have been passed last Spring and all of the horrendous bills out there this was the least liberal. I don’t say that as a compliment to the Democrats, but as a compliment to the bloggers and activists who fought this tooth and nail.
The saddest part is she had no where to go and no one to take care of her in her final hours, but she deemed to tell me what of what I should be ashamed.

She imagined that the state would provide that, too. But there comes a time in one’s life when you would give all that you own for a kind word, if none is available. The state, alas for her, is not in the kindness business.
Collectivism justifies any means to achieve its great ends. Any expediency is justified, no matter how it may affect individuals or small groups, for the benefit of the whole. The “greater goal” justifies even horrific means.
Collectivist principles justify the rise of totally unprincipled apparatchiks. Once collectivist goals are accepted, the way is open for demagogues and ruthless men to gather the “strength” needed to impose the needed measures. To rise in such a system, only totally callous apparatchiks are desired. They must be “unreservably committed to the person of the leader; but next to this the most important thing is that they should be completely unprincipled and literally capable of everything.”
We are on the “road” it would seem, and despite pacifist caution, I would suggest to all, to keep their powder dry.
According to what I’ve seen and read, the Stupak 6 are the key to 216. Debbie Wasserman-Shultz-D-FL has admitted their 216 votes are not hard yesses. There is still time to influence those 6 remaining democrats holding out for Obama’s executive order on abortion. If one of them is your rep, call them. Remind them of Obama’s expiration dates on promises. And remind them that he signed an EO to close Gitmo, which is still open.
And remind them that he signed an EO to close Gitmo, which is still open.

I’ll say it again…
An executive order from a president who is a proponent of the most barbaric practice of partial birth abortion is not worth the paper it is written on.
Great point. Remind them he voted for the hideous bill in Illinois that denied doctors to babies surviving an abortion. I don’t think they really need reminding. They are looking for a way to walk-back their strong stance and will use this piece of paper to do that. But it wouldn’t hurt to let them know, if you are a constituent, that you are aware of it.
Also remind them about the other EO signed by Obama repealing the “Mexico City Policy”. I know they know, but if they know you know, it might help remove the fig leaf they are using.
The masses do not want this crap. CNN and the MSM pump up Obamas glorified pep rallies of ACORN and SEIU paid members all the while ignoring the wishes of the American people. The meida in this country is equally guilty of corruption and dirty dealing politics and they have no intentions of standing up to this phoney president and this phoney group in DC. There will be all hell to pay….
Blowback
