Ryan: CBO score uses double-counting, funds “15,000 IRS agents”

posted at 2:40 pm on March 19, 2010 by Ed Morrissey

The Right Scoop catches Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) explaining some of the deficiencies of the CBO analysis of the House reconciliation package on Fox & Friends this morning. Not only does the CBO play along with the double-counting of Medicare cuts — which argues that the money will go both to shoring up Medicare while also funding the expansion of Medicaid — it fails to include the “doctor fix” that Democrats plan to pursue after ObamaCare passes:

We’ve heard the double-counting argument (and it’s a good one), but the IRS expansion makes for a better, more immediate argument. Do we need the IRS checking on us every month to enforce the health-insurance mandate? Do Americans think hiring an additional 15,000 IRS agents to get even more involved in our lives is a great idea for reform?

Maybe this is what Nancy Pelosi meant when she called ObamaCare a “jobs bill” … it’s just another round of Democratic stimulus!

Guys, guys … this is all ok because the Commerce Clause authorizes double counting and spending omissions.

I’m not sure anyone here realizes it, but Bush used the Commerce Clause to justify the invasion of Iraq.

Past Presidents have used it as well. Bill Clinton used it to say he was well within his rights to receive oral gratification, and as a young man, Ted Kennedy used it to explain why he left a young girl to die.

For further uses of the Commerce Clause, please contact crr6.

9.1.4.6 (05-30-2008)
Directive No. 4 – Firearms

1.

The nature of CI’s activities requires the ability to respond in a safe and timely manner 24 hours a day. Special agents are not expected to be armed at all times, but must have access to their assigned firearm when required to perform official duties.
2.

Special agents are authorized, but are not required, to carry their IRS-issued weapon when off-duty. When carrying their IRS-issued weapon off-duty, special agents are subject to all IRM provisions concerning firearms.
3.

Criminal Investigation will provide each special agent with a firearms safe in the office and a safety container for home storage.
4.

The Chief, CI, will ensure that each special agent has met the requirements to carry firearms. Futhermore, the Director, Field Operations and each SAC will ensure that each special agent in his/her office has met the requirements to carry firearms.
5.

The SAC may authorize special agents to carry IRS-owned weapons other than the agents’ assigned firearm (for example, shotguns). The SAC will notify the Director, Field Operations of such authorization within 24 hours.
6.

Special agents who carry a privately-owned weapon during off-duty hours are subject to the same civil and criminal restrictions as a private citizen. Special agents may not use their position or credentials to qualify under state or local laws to purchase, license, carry, or use private weapons; however upon request, credentials may be displayed as occupational identification, but not to influence the decision.

So the Democrats say the “doc fix” is a hoax and Politico dutifully pulls it down?

Can they be any more obvious?

I’m sorry, I couldnt stop think about Dana Perino.

Why should I be forced onto government welfare when I am completely capable of taking care of mine and my family’s well being. STAY AWAY FEDS!!

Kinda changes the whole story where your daddy told you not to ever take Welfare and provide for yourself.

Now you can tell your grandchildren in the near future how patriotic it is to be on welfare as you will have no choice.

Perino is a big government GOPer.

True_King on March 19, 2010 at 3:21 PM

Well now we have to find out who gave Politico the memo.

Either way, I guess the “doc fix” will be a big distraction after all.
