Quotes of the day

posted at 10:40 pm on March 19, 2010 by Allahpundit

“Since launching his campaign for health care reform with a White House forum on March 5th of last year, Mr. Obama has delivered 54 speeches and statements on the issue.

“He has done health care events in 12 states, some of them more than once. He’s done 9 Town Hall Meetings on health care and made it the focus of 13 of his Saturday radio and Internet addresses…

“Our CBS News tally shows Mr. Obama has made 471 speeches, remarks and comments on every issue under the sun since taking office 423 days ago. His 54 statements on health care reform mean that better than 1 in 10 was on health care. Since the first of this year, it’s been nearly 2 in 10.”

***
“I spent nearly two years on the road with Obama (and the rest of the 2008 candidates) and today’s rally at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia made me feel as if I’d jumped in the Hot Tub Time Machine. I was practically waiting for Obama to offer his most prized stump line from fall 2008, which went something like this in Jacksonville, or Las Vegas, or Evansville, Indiana: ‘We are less than two days away from bringing about change in America.’…

“But what’s key about today is that it’s an indicator of how Obama will campaign on health care once it’s law. He’s been telling Democrats recently that the success of his presidency rests on the measure passing, and you can expect a lot more events like this in the fall. It also sends a signal to wavering Democrats in swing states that the president can still bring in nearly 10,000 people on a weekday with little notice.”

***
“It’s always seemed obvious to me that a lot of Obama’s supporters, including many of the so-called ‘ObamaCons,’ were simply charmed by the guy. Their pro-Obama arguments were often little more than rationalizations for personal feelings. Even now, it seems that a lot of the ‘Obama is a centrist’ argument is based not on his actual policies or principles (or history) but simply on the fact that, gosh, he sounds so reasonable! (And certainly some of the overwhelming support Obama enjoys from the black community isn’t purely grounded in policy substance).

“This is why Obama has so much to lose if he persists in making such a boor of himself. His personal approval ratings have been trending higher than his policies throughout his presidency. As he becomes less likable, there’s not a lot for the Democrats to fall back on. The White House communication shop’s ‘cowbell’ strategy shows that they don’t know how to sell anything on the merits. They’re selling Obama selling the merits. It’s the celebrity endorsement style of political argumentation, and it’s getting stale.”

When he gives these speeches there is some girl with a distinct blood curdling squeal who squeals after every sentence. I think she is at every speech. I guess it’s supposed to give the speech a rock concert atmosphere, or something, but I gotta believe that a lot of people keep looking at the girl thinking she’s being attacked every time she lets out that squeal.

As a Lutheran Christian I learned early on in catechism class that hatred of our neighbor is sinful. That precept gets tougher and more difficult to follow with this administration and the lib’s in Congress cramming socialist programs and other crap sandwiches at us that we do not want.

Lets do some math.
On the Fox interview the other day Obama said:
“Bret, I get 40,000 letters or e-mails a day (about healthcare).”

Obama has been President for about 420 days times 40,000 letters = 4.2 million letters.
Now maybe some people are repeat mailers or Obama is off a little on his quote but still….Obama can’t get a crowd more then 10,000 8,000 people..on a weekday…where the unemployment is almost 10%? This man won the Noble Peace Prize for doing nothing!!!!! He is the Messiah!!!! Come ON!!

Electrongod on March 19, 2010 at 11:03 PM

I saw a comment on an article earlier in the Baltimore Sun where the commenter said something like, “if the founding fathers were alive today, every single one of them would take up arms against this government.”

The point is not that we should take up arms against the government (we shouldn’t), but that this country would be unrecognizable to the founding fathers. Making a citizen purchase something or face a fine or jail time. I don’t think that would have passed muster with James Madison.

Today,Obama said something like, “this is about our nation’s character”. It certainly is. He is destroying this nations character. The virtues of individual liberty and personal responsibility and hard work are being replaced by the lazy, sclerotic, handout/entitlement mentality where everyone is looking to reach into his neighbor’s pocket. It makes me sick. I weep for this country.

Pick up your phones, freedom czars. Sunday is the day the progressive left has been dreaming of for generations. We have to stop them.

BIG UPDATE?!

ok, if that is true, then it is worse that deem and pass, this is deem deem pass (deem pass deem ?). will have to go to the senate. they can claim that reconciliation is a budgetary matter , but what Stupak is offering is a real to goodness amendment that must go to the Senate for approval and not by a simple majority. right ? right ??

The opportunity to secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself. – Sun Tzu

They don’t have the votes, this is all propaganda and disinformation…

March 10, 2010 – “the time for talk is over” – President Obama

The man is so much more than unprecedented – he’s unrepentant!

It’s always seemed obvious to me that a lot of Obama’s supporters, including many of the so-called ‘ObamaCons,’ were simply charmed by the guy.

The Obama Messiah’s Gold is turning out to look more and more like Fool’s Gold, his Frankincense is starting to wash off and his Myrrh has pretty much all blown away.

I am hoping that Obama will drastically lack of speeches through laryngitis.
