Quotes of the day
posted at 10:40 pm on March 19, 2010 by Allahpundit
“Since launching his campaign for health care reform with a White House forum on March 5th of last year, Mr. Obama has delivered 54 speeches and statements on the issue.
“He has done health care events in 12 states, some of them more than once. He’s done 9 Town Hall Meetings on health care and made it the focus of 13 of his Saturday radio and Internet addresses…
“Our CBS News tally shows Mr. Obama has made 471 speeches, remarks and comments on every issue under the sun since taking office 423 days ago. His 54 statements on health care reform mean that better than 1 in 10 was on health care. Since the first of this year, it’s been nearly 2 in 10.”
***
“I spent nearly two years on the road with Obama (and the rest of the 2008 candidates) and today’s rally at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia made me feel as if I’d jumped in the Hot Tub Time Machine. I was practically waiting for Obama to offer his most prized stump line from fall 2008, which went something like this in Jacksonville, or Las Vegas, or Evansville, Indiana: ‘We are less than two days away from bringing about change in America.’…
“But what’s key about today is that it’s an indicator of how Obama will campaign on health care once it’s law. He’s been telling Democrats recently that the success of his presidency rests on the measure passing, and you can expect a lot more events like this in the fall. It also sends a signal to wavering Democrats in swing states that the president can still bring in nearly 10,000 people on a weekday with little notice.”
***
“It’s always seemed obvious to me that a lot of Obama’s supporters, including many of the so-called ‘ObamaCons,’ were simply charmed by the guy. Their pro-Obama arguments were often little more than rationalizations for personal feelings. Even now, it seems that a lot of the ‘Obama is a centrist’ argument is based not on his actual policies or principles (or history) but simply on the fact that, gosh, he sounds so reasonable! (And certainly some of the overwhelming support Obama enjoys from the black community isn’t purely grounded in policy substance).
“This is why Obama has so much to lose if he persists in making such a boor of himself. His personal approval ratings have been trending higher than his policies throughout his presidency. As he becomes less likable, there’s not a lot for the Democrats to fall back on. The White House communication shop’s ‘cowbell’ strategy shows that they don’t know how to sell anything on the merits. They’re selling Obama selling the merits. It’s the celebrity endorsement style of political argumentation, and it’s getting stale.”

Way to rally the troops, AP.
HA is such a joke.

I was able tonight to convince two young women in Scott Murphy’s district to get involved to unseat him. One is a small business owner with a huge clientele. Her insurance costs have risen dramatically, but she is against ObamaCare nonetheless. The other is a middle school teacher who is not only against ObamaCare, but also against the leftist agenda that is dumbing down students with multiculturalist, PC b.s. while mollycoddling them and tying teachers’ hands behind their backs when it comes to discipline. The two women have been interested, but not active, in politics up to this point.
ObamaCare is what has galvanized them into action. Dems better know we’re coming for you in November.
Connie on March 19, 2010 at 11:34 PM
O/T but maybe not: who the hell is responsible for allowing this to go forward?
If this is being done with “guidance” (read: pressure) from the Osama Obama regime, then the man is even more of a traitor to his country than I thought.
Talk about putting our fate in the hands of our enemies….

Obama could take a lesson from Hootie & the Blowfish when it comes to overexposure.

Let me guess – in inky blue Massachusetts, Coakley was such a bad candidate that even Messiah couldn’t save her. Oh, but he is the Messiah so this can not possibly be the explanation. Well…I’m tired thinking about it.

Barack Obama in the highest office in the land, parley-voo?
Barack Obama in the highest office in the land, parley-voo?
He can sink the economy and dither on jobs a great deal
But taking any responsibly to him just does not appeal
He has less class than the back of a hack
When he whines and cries about medical care the tears run down his back
If he would just take responsibility sometime somewhere
The MSM frogs would probably give him the Croix-de-Guerre
Hinky, dinky, parley-voo
InkyBinkyBarleyBoo on March 19, 2010 at 11:42 PM
Hell, he managed to get over 1 million to come to Washington on 9/12 last year to protest on the Capitol Mall, and didn’t even stick around!

After all the bribes, trips on Air Force One, speeches, pay-offs, special deals, promises of jobs, Obowma’s smug puss on the TV 24/7, Hollywood, the Main Stream Media totally in the bag, and let’s not forget shredding the Constitution …
THEY DO NOT HAVE THE VOTES…!!!

Well, personally, I have my doubts as they may still have a lot of bribes and threats up their sleeves, and their shorts, but if you are right … … …
To-day do I bake, to-morrow I brew
The day after that the health care takeover comes in
And oh! I am glad that nobody knew
That the name I am called is Rumpelobamaskin!
Maybe if the Child Emperor loses he will get so mad that he will drive his right foot so far into the ground that he will create a chasm and fall into it, never to be seen again.

The money quote…
But I’ve always believed that is all Obama was, a celebrity. He is an empty suit. He’s not all that intelligent. He’s not much of a speaker. He’s not really charismatic. He’s certainly not good-looking. He was chosen, groomed, trained, and displayed as the face of the real power…the Liberals and they ain’t Black. He was picked because he’s Black, has a Harvard degree, and was willing to do anything they say. They kept him isolated and the media went along with it. They knew he couldn’t really handle the job, the pressure, or the criticism. They never thought that people don’t want a celebrity, they want a real person, a real leader.
Deanna on March 20, 2010 at 12:06 AM
After this much time, this much media, these many angry townhalls, this much discussion, Democrats know what’s in the bill, they know just like Republicans do, we’re not having it, they know its unconstitutional, the left knows very well, ObamaCare is terrible for Americans, they know the true cost is many trillions more than advertised, they know the lies, they know the corruption, they know nationalized health care is tyranny in the form of a heavy yoke to be born by every American and by extension by every world citizen dependent on generosity of America.
How bad does the radical left want to put a choke chain leash around your neck? Really, really, bad.
Speakup on March 20, 2010 at 12:08 AM
When you listen to Obama get all “wee-weed up” in his speeches, do any of you feel real emotion coming from him? I don’t. He is the coldest, most calculating politician in Washington, and I feel nothing when I listen to him. I sometimes wonder if, along with the speech, TOTUS prints out “emotion directions” for him – “get mad here”, “look intense and committed”, “this is a ‘victim’ story, look sad”, “get louder and louder and keep dropping the ‘gs’ at the end of your sentences”. He is a fraud as POTUS because he is an empty shell as a man.

All those speeches, all those statements, all those interviews, and no press conference in more than 300 days. The criminals in the MSM are still letting him control the message, if they had any guts they would boycott the rhetoric and demand press conferences.
oldoldbabs on March 20, 2010 at 12:30 AM
This never ceases to perplex me. The guy has not proven particularly likable. Occasionally he makes a funny and I chuckle, but for the most part he comes across as cold, aloof, and condescending. It’s in his countenance, it’s in his posture. He seems to have an utter disdain for just about everyone around him. There is nothing warm or affable or optimistic about him. I can only surmise that people are still responding to the media packaging of him as Mr. Joe Cool, and/or that it’s a typical case of people desiring what’s unattainable. Obama certainly puts off that air.

If you held your nose for McCain you should have to hold your tongue on anything that Obama does as you did not do everything to stop him
Some have to see evil to know it. Well with Obama we have seen evil now we can know who to fight. Let’s hope that it is not forgotten anytime soon.

CWforFreedom on March 20, 2010 at 8:11 AM
He’s starting to look and sound a lot like Hitler and Castro. I saw that crowd behind him yesterday and wondered how can they sit there with smiles on their faces and cheer when he was talking about putting them under liberal tyranny. Is everyone who listens to him truly that mesmerized? He may be able to buy all the votes he needs in Congress, but it won’t help him in ’12. By then all the tax hikes and addition of 17,000 more IRS agents should have sunk in. Pray harder that this bill doesn’t pass, ever.
Kissmygrits on March 20, 2010 at 9:11 AM
He gets 8,000 at a 10,000 seat arena at a campus that has 30,000 with a portion of that being commuters, so there is parking space for a mere rally like this.
Sarah Palin with a half-day’s notice got, what was it… 6,000? 8,000?… in Leesburg, VA about 20 miles outside the beltway and getting into farm country. Outdoors. It was raining. Actually getting 1,000 for anything on a chilly, rainy day outdoors in the fall in NoVA is amazing.
I seem to sense a difference in drawing power, there.
Hopefully someone will hold a rally at the indoor range in Ashburn. That would be a fun day. Political rally and moose hunting class…I can see that.
ajacksonian on March 20, 2010 at 9:34 AM
He’s the President, he’s in the middle of blue Fairfax Co, he’s at a minority dominated campus…
…and they still didn’t fill the arena until last minute.

I heard Obama’s speech. And I thought … once upon a time, another man used words to whip crowds up. At the end of it, his country was in ruins but everybody was still saying how charming their dear leader was. Please God, let history not repeat itself with us.
SilentWatcher on March 20, 2010 at 10:58 AM
Oh my! Palin’s takedown of Obama (on Greta’s show) is exquisite! The unkindest cut of all is that she’s taken criticism Democrats have leveled at her and redirected it more accurately at Obama. In his case, that criticism is irrefutable.
SilentWatcher on March 20, 2010 at 11:12 AM
It’s an amazing study in human folly to see Democrats in the House agreeing to rope themselves to the Demagogue-in-Chief and stagger over the cliff.
With Obama it’s all about Obama, Obama, Obama. The people have figured that out. But something makes these Congressionl Democrats feel bound to make a political suicide pact, for someone who can’t help them get reelected and doesn’t even want to.
