Obama pitch: My presidency’s sunk without ObamaCare
posted at 12:15 pm on March 18, 2010 by Ed Morrissey
Remember when Democrats mocked Jim DeMint for calling ObamaCare the President’s “Waterloo”? Apparently, that’s stopped being a bug and is now a feature, at least according to Barack Obama. In a pitch aimed at convincing skeptical members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus to back the Senate version of the bill, Obama told them that the “fate of his presidency” depended on winning this vote:
President Barack Obama had exhausted most of his health care reform arguments with members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus during a White House meeting last Thursday when he made a more personal pitch that resonated with many skeptics in the room.
One caucus member told POLITICO that Obama won him over by “essentially [saying] that the fate of his presidency” hinged on this week’s health reform vote in the House. The member, who requested anonymity, likened Obama’s remarks to an earlier meeting with progressives when the president said a victory was necessary to keep him “strong” for the next three years of his term.
Another caucus member, Rep. Jose Serrano (D-N.Y.), said, “We went in there already knowing his presidency would be weakened if this thing went down, but the president clearly reinforced the impression the presidency would be damaged by a loss.” …
White House officials said Obama’s recent remarks aren’t intended to personalize the debate or rally undecided Democratic members with an egocentric, “win one for Barry” message. They said Obama’s point is to hammer home the idea that all Democrats would benefit from a health care win and that the party’s larger policy agenda would be damaged if the president were to lose.
For what it’s worth, the Waterloo talk is overblown — by both sides. We don’t have a parliamentary system in the US; the executive does not face votes of no confidence by the legislature. The President is always relevant to political debate, thanks to the power of the veto, as Bill Clinton proved in the collapse of his own takeover of the health-care sector in 1994.
The burning of political capital in the cause is really more of an issue regardless of whether the bill passes or not. Obama will have a job after November; many of the people whose arms he’s twisting will not, thanks to this bill and the sleazy manner in which Democrats have pushed it. The question of a strong Presidency should really focus on whether Obama will have the votes in the next two years to get anything done in Congress, and whether House and Senate Democrats who are looking at electoral catastrophe in November will go along with anything else left this year on the presidential agenda. He’s used up all of his political chits on this initiative, no matter what its outcome.
But since Obama has adopted the Waterloo meme for his sales pitch, why not provide the theme music? ABBA just got selected for nomination into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Here’s their debut at the Eurovision contest in 1974:

0bama is a hard core, bitter and angry, Marxist.
Even if he loses the healthcare debacle, he’ll still be president. A position where he can tear at the guts of the Republic, possibly to it’s destruction.
I’ll postulate further that, out of spite, he’ll be even more dangerous if 0bamacare fails. Since his “legacy” will have been ruined anyway, there is nothing – nothing - he won’t do to avenge himself. 0bama is not a rational actor.

What’s the party’s larger agenda? And how do they plan to get it passed in an election year, with only 59 votes in the Senate? They cvan onyl do one reconciliation bill per year. And next year they know they won’t have a working majority, and possibly not even an actual majority.
It would be more accurate to say that this is the last real piece of progressive legislation these guys and gals will ever have the chance to pass. And that’s probably a good enough reason for most of them.

No, we don’t have a parliamentary system and no, the president doesn’t face no confidence votes, but we do have this little two word concept that pretty much means the same: Lame Duck. I seriously doubt that Wussolini has the personal wherewithal to move his thinking to the center after November so he will, in effect, be the above-mentioned disabled waterfowl.

I’m sure its much deeper than that. He’s fully aware that he was nothing more than an inconvenience to his mother, who made to suffer an undue burden by carrying him to full term and squirting him out and then raise him in an segregated world as a half-breed.
Why is he such an advocate for abortion? My guess is he convinced himself years ago that his mother should have aborted him and saved him from the pain of his race. It could be that his pursuit of abortions is a catharsis to his id, resolving his wish of never having been born.
Which goes a long way in supporting a diagnosis of narcissim.

That’s just more Obama myth. The insurance company ended up paying for all of his mother’s treatment. They initially raised some questions about whether she had been honest on her application. (Did she wait until she had a suspicious mass, or unexplained pain or bleeding before she decided to get health insurance? We don’t know, but the insurance company apparently had some suspicions). But the insurer ended up providing Barry’s mother with coverage anyway. She may have had some unpleasant conversations with an insurance company representative, but she didn’t die because she was denied coverage. She died because she had ovarian cancer — a condition that is often fatal, even when the patient receives the best possible medical treatment.

From an article written by a shrink:
“Obama has been called a Citizen of the World. While liberals find this appealing, what it actually means is that Obama has come from nowhere and belongs nowhere.
Someone with no country or roots has nothing. Bob Dylan described the predicament and the danger: “When you have nothing, you have nothing to lose.”
This is why Obama can casually throw his grandma and pastor under the bus. And Obama can seamlessly enter into a shady land deal with slumlord Tony Rezko, knowing full well that he deprived black people of heat in frigid Chicago winters.
Obama can profess love for his father but allow paternal relatives to live in abject poverty in the projects in Boston or shacks in Kenya. He can cavalierly end the D.C. school voucher program, cheating poor black kids of a decent education.
Obama’s Strangeness allows him to destroy the Democratic Party by forcing health care legislation that the populace vehemently opposes. If the party crashes and burns, it doesn’t matter much to Obama. He was never one of them anyway.
In therapy lingo, Obama may have an attachment disorder. This diagnosis is often applied to children languishing in orphanages or shuttled among foster homes.
These kids may look normal, but what’s missing is the ability to connect to something or someone wholesome. All grown up, unattached adults may lack empathy and, in extreme cases, a conscience.
A disconnected president puts us all at risk. We’ve survived narcissistic presidents before, even neophytes. But we’ve never seen the likes of Obama.”

Call your Congressional Representatives!
Call them now, and use their local numbers. Tell everyone you know to call them now! This is a fight for the soul and future of the United States of America; for the country we all love, and have inherited and preserved out of the blood and treasure of our forefathers.
Will the American citizens stand and fight as our great Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Guardsmen, and United States Marines, past and present, always stand and fight for our sacred liberty? This is a seminole moment in American history. We will live as one nation under God, or under government? Now is the time of decision! You must act now! Now is the time to let your voices be heard as never before. Where is the march on Washington? Where is the American spirit that never quits? Where is the American spirit that says “no” and “never again” to our enemies, and backs it up at all costs? Our soldiers are willing to die for this country’s preservation. Shall we not stand up on their behalf while they face bullets and bombs so we do not have to?
If you called already, call them again! If you have e-mailed them, do it again. If you have told your relatives, friends, neighbors, and co-workers, tell them to call and email, and fax them again! Stop what you’re doing and do it now! Our great republic is at stake!
Think of your children; and do it for them. Look into their faces; and then pick-up the phone and get on your computer, and let them know, we are still Americans, and we will not accept tyranny from anyone – foreign or domestic. We will never surrender to state control of our lives. Tell them that when you call and email them. Tell them we are not socialists, and we will not live under it now or ever. Tell them like Churchill “We will fight them in the air; on the land; and on the seas. We will never surrender.” Tell them like John Paul Jones, “We have not yet begun to fight.” Call them now! E-mail them now! Fax them now! Let them feel the people’s power. Do it now!

My mom died too when I was young and as much as I love her and miss her so much for the last 22 years that she has been gone, I can get the point of wanting to honor your dead mother. There is such an empty hole in my heart and I miss her so much. For as much of a bleeding heart my mother was (that gene fortunately skipped me and it was only her and one of her 6 sisters and 4 brothers that had it), I know she would not want me to destroy the country in order to honor her.
I do a lot of charity work, especially with animals (because that is what I love to do), as well as 20 years of GOP activism, so all the volunteering I do is in her honor. She was all about helping people, and after she died (she worked for the City of Philadelphia for 25 years), the City of Philadelphia named an award after her.
If he really wanted to honor his mother, he should use his life to find a way to eradicate cancer and not destroy everyone else’s life because his mom died of a pre-existing condition. I worked in managed care in one form or another for almost 17 years and I know that you don’t buy insurance when the house is burning. I can’t afford my $654/month COBRA to cover just me but I sacrifice everything to do it because I was born with a birth-defect in my pancreas, so I can’t afford not to be continually insured.

Just gotta love his leadership style. Tells Congress to do all the heavy lifting, take all the flak, take all the losses next November and then it’s still, ” you gotta do it for my legacy”. What a narcissist!
Ah, that’s not a racist term for you public educated dim bulbs who voted for the One (and only). Look it up.

Speaking of ABBA, I’m saddened at the lack of good songs that have been made after I was born. Five years ago this song was twice as old as me. …

Waterloo isn’t the proper metaphor. It’s more like Stalingrad. Waterloo was a 2-3 day affair and most of the defeated French survived. On the other hand, at Stalingrad you had an ‘unstoppable’ German juggernaut suddenly stalemated within a few hundred meters of its goal and so obsessed with capturing those last few city blocks it ignored how vulnerable it had become to a devastating counterattack.

Barry’s presidency may be sunk without Obamacare, but our country could be sunk with Obamacare.
On a lighter note, thanks, Ed, for bringing back musical memories from my younger days.

That’s why we’ll need a 2/3 majority in each house to veto-proof him. However the numbers just don’t add up. All the same, he can be stopped, since bills originate in the house, that’s where we absolutely have to get that majority. All programs that require funding can dry up on the vine by not supplying the money – that’s one thing Obambi can’t use his EO to “fix”.
If the GOP/Indys win the majority of seats on the ballot this Fall, most of the remaining survivors will veer center, as will most of the Senators not on the baloot this year.

It has become one of my favorite songs.

Waterloo again…sheesh.
It was Napoleon and the true patriots who picked the French crown up out of the gutter and restored honor to France if only for a few more months.
These Marxists are more along the lines of Robespierre in that they’ve perverted the ideals of Liberty and the notion of self-determination that even those of the landed class were able to envision 300 years ago.

So the President is telling undecideds that his presidency is sunk if Socialized Medicine fails, AND IT WILL BE THEIR FAULT! A couple of thoughts:
1. He’s not blaming Bush?
2. This guy’s been a whiner going all the way back to the primaries against Hillary. People no longer take his whining with a grain of salt, as his approval numbers show. Going against this president could actually become a badge of honor among Blue Dogs.
3. Once healthcare failes in this Congress, the next one, controlled by Republicans, will ABSOLUTELY have to address the issue. Blue Dogs who stood their ground will have standing and a seat at the table to contribute to bipartisan legislation. They just need to withstand the slings and arrows from Cruella DeVille Pelosi between now and January 2011.
4. Rep Stupak says it’s been a living hell. Well, yes, a temporary one. But if you firmly believe that abortion is murder, better to go through a temporary “hell” now that a much, much, much worse eternal hell when you pass from this earth.

We have to find the illegal actions this band of legislators have forced on U.S., and take full advantage of the legal system to oust those responsible.
Seriously, the American public can not take much more of this take over of U.S.. Those who see the grass as being greener on the other side of the fence, I say Audios, but just leave.

President Obama, speaking in Fairfax, Virginia”
“My Healthcare Bill gives you every Christmas present you ever asked for, but didn’t get. It will make you more popular with chicks. It will make your car run faster and get better mileage. It will make you so happy, you’ll have uncontrollable nocturnal emissions of delight! And after I’ve put insurance companies out of business, it’ll get even better. I will take care of you. I will give you pain pills when I think you’re too old to be economically cared for. I will help you get rid of all those unwanted children who cause global warming.”
