Obama: “The Louisiana Purchase would cover an earthquake in Hawaii”?
posted at 10:20 pm on March 17, 2010 by Cassy Fiano
This moment, from Bret Baier’s interview on Fox News with Obama, might just be one of the biggest “WTF?!” moments from Obama’s presidency yet. Obama is either completely making things up, living in an alternate reality, or really, really confused.
Actually, my guess is that’s it’s probably a combination of all three.
Apparently, there was a devastating earthquake in Hawaii that we all somehow missed.
Oh, wait, no. That’s right. There was no earthquake, and Obama is just totally clueless, as usual. In fact, the last earthquake in Hawaii to cause any deaths at all was in 1975, and two people died.
In any case, why is he using this argument, anyways? He’s turned this health care bill into a one-size-fits-all solution for everything. Not only will it fix our health care, but it will apparently create jobs and give disaster relief around the country!
Maybe I’m the only person who doesn’t get it, but I just don’t see how disaster relief has anything to do with health care. This is just more evidence that Obama is just talking out of his you-know-where now. He’s become this desperate. And you know, I say good. That means we’re getting to him, and now’s the time to push even harder.
And, Obama? Just a tip. Someone that you supposedly look up to once gave some pretty good advice, someone named Abraham Lincoln. Read this quote. Memorize it. Repeat it to yourself before you ever choose to open your mouth ever again.
It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt.
Update (AP): Tapper noticed this earlier too. My guess is Obama meant to say that Hawaii went through a tsunami caused by the quake in Chile and got distracted in his irritation at Baier. But who knows what goes on in his mind at this point? This is a guy who thinks universal health care is going to reduce the deficit.

Obama is also lying that the Louisiana Purchase would cover other states that undergo disasters… for the simple fact that the next paragraph in the bill strikes every single state except for Louisiana.

He was making the “it’s just small change in a near-trillion dollar bill.”
To which one might add, “Take care of the pennies and the dollars will take care of themselvs. Take care of the millions and the trillions will take care of themselves.”

This whole thing about the 300M going to Louisiana 5 years after they got flooded by Katrina is very suspect since it was given when they needed Landreiu’s vote. And I don’t remember Landreiu making this argument, ever.
I wonder he’d be willing to give this to all 57 states?

Give the pres a break…. Hawaii – Hati what’s the diff??
They both start with that letter “H” don’t they???
Me thinks, the pres has no clue what is in the bill. I wish that Brett would have quizzed him more about the substance and asked for explanations… I also wished that he would have asked about the tax increases that break yet another promise.

I think we know that the deal here is…
Our President is a hard-left dumbass. That’s the issue.
Hard lefties don’t do facts, they do emotions. Not because it helps the little people…well, the little people in their heads maybe, but not the real little people. But they do it because it helps them…the first patient (in fact, the only patient) in Obama’s mind, when he thinks ‘ObamaCare’, is Obama. He really doesn’t care if it kills every man woman and child in the country…as long as he’s the last one standing…well, and Michelle and the kids…but I doubt they are really that important in the end .
This tool will say anything and everything…because facts don’t matter. Consider it artistic license…he’s a BS artist and he’s simply expressing himself in the most natural way available. It’s what he does…it’s not his fault he’s this way…God ordained it.

Once upon a time I played a mean trick on a drafter. He was lettering a whole string of notes, and note ten or eleventy said “John Smith (not real name) is a dirty low life SOB.” He got to “dirty” before he jumped up and told me that he thought my parents were never married.
I would pay a million bucks (when I win a Powerball jackpot) to have someone sneak in a sentence on the TOTUS that says “The President is a dirty low life son of a bitch.”

Everytime Obama opens his mouth without a teleprompter six feet away, he casts more and more doubt in my mind as to his actual IQ. Who talks like this? Rambling, assinine statements that have no relevance to anything. No wonder his first executive order as President was to seal all his grades from the colleges he attended, they must have been really bad. And how on earth did he get into Harvard Law when kids with exemplary grades are turned away? He is a fraud of the first magnitude, wish more Americans would see it.

Buddahpundit on March 17, 2010 at 10:56 PM
you have showed your bias – no need to get mad. I get it – it is all the black people’s fault for inviting Katrina to one of the poorest cities in the US and then not rebuilding it while you looked on and applauded their efforts without any assistance….
Obama may not be running the most transparent administration evah but you certainly are abundantly transparent with your comments in this thread. Put the hood back on and give Uncle Robert a call.

Great post, Cassy!
It must have really scarred the Indonesian Imbecile, who thought that 10,000 had died in that quake … or maybe he thought it was 20,000 or 30,000. They’re just numbers and numbers mean next to nothing to the Imbecile.
But that tsunami was a dud. Maybe The Precedent thought that 123,000 had died in that? Who knows what goes through that pea-brain of his? He’s probably still got “profit and earnings ratios” on the mind.

Bradky on March 17, 2010 at 11:00 PM
I won’t speak for Jeff2161, but I think the point is the leadership in NO was whining about relief before Katrina even hit, but he himself (mayor) did little to facilitate evacuating people out of the city before it hit. Uh, remember all the busses sitting in flooded lots.
Its the same mayor now, 6 years later and still whining about the same crap. Gulf coast MS got hit just as hard if not harder, and not a peep out of them 6 years later…go figure.

One black mayor’s comments cannot be pasted onto every black citizen of NO, nor can the comments and actions of some people seen in television coverage. And perhaps you didn’t see it in the news but Nagin lost the election to Mitch Landrieu, a white guy, in a majority black city.
Like I said one person’s utterings don’t represent an entire population any more than Robert Byrd’s actions represent your beliefs.
Bradky on March 17, 2010 at 11:05 PM
The problem that I see with the provision, besides the federal government being flat out broke, is that the money is given out with little regard to actual need. Once the threshold of every county/parish in the state being impacted, bingo, the money spigot opens for 7 years to whose ever wallets are opened to receive it.
