Aw: Democrats ready to roll out the red carpet for tea partiers protesting tomorrow in D.C.
posted at 8:24 pm on March 15, 2010 by Allahpundit
But … I thought they were “angry mobs” and “teabaggers” and evilmongering “evil-mongers.”
Why are the Democrats embracing evil?
In a memo sent to freshman and sophomore lawmakers, Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), a member of the House leadership, urges lawmakers to make special accomodations to prepare for the protesters, ranging from refreshments to extra staff members…
Among the suggestions:
Consider having some light snacks, H2O, and coffee available;
Have multiple guest books/comment sheets available for all visitors to sign-in and leave comments;
Have a Capitol Directory and map available to direct visitors to their Member of Congress and written instructions on how to get over to the Senate side of the Hill;
Listen and communicate in small groups:
But lawmakers and their staff should also understand that the tea partiers are reacting merely to a “caricature of the reform bill presented by right-wing media outlets” and aren’t intimately familiar with the legislation, the memo says.
Conservatives have begun melting the phones but calls from non-constituents are being mostly ignored. Show of hands — who’s going tomorrow? And among those of you who are, who’s still so ignorant about the basics of the bill after month upon endless month of Obama speechifying that you need some Democratic backbencher to explain it to you? A few tips if you do find yourself inside some lucky Blue Dog’s office: Be sure to ask (a) what Pelosi’s bribing him with; (b) why, if Democrats are so confident about cost control, they had to rig the estimate on the first decade of costs by delaying the program’s start by five years (in fact, just hand your rep a copy of this); (c) how he/she can be so sure what’s in the bill when they’ll be busy writing it right at that very moment. Other suggestions are welcome in the comments.

Without Scott Brown’s victory, the Dims would still be ignoring reality and clinging to the nutroots’ version of the Tea Partiers.

Projecting again are we. I’ve read the Senate and House monstrosities and am passingly familiar with what’s in them. I don’t think you can say the same.

Yeah, lefties, talk down to the protesters and see what that gets you.

Better yet, bring a copy of whatever you can find online of the HC scheme and bring it with to the rep’s office, then ask them to explain what’s on any given page.

The press is doing their part… Here’s the IndyStar article on a Tea Party protest at the Indiana Statehouse “competing health care rallies” (where a handful of astro-turfers with pre made signs are turned into nearly a hundred protesters)

Bring a tape recorder. Get them to state on record that they haven’t even read it, don’t know what’s in it, and don’t care because this is NOT ABOUT HEALTH CARE. It’s about taking away liberty.

Sounds patronizing to me. Par for the course, I guess.
These people seriously need to be stopped. This is so patently unconstitutional it’s unbelievable. I wish people actually had the nerve to revolt b/c that’s apparently what it’s going to take. Instead it will pass and then we’ll have to navigate the byzantine federal court system in order to challenge it. It could take decades.
I seriously hate these people with every fiber of my being. We have someone running for State Senate in my district whose #1 campaign promise is to draft a nullification bill to allow Arkansans to opt out of this God forsaken POS plan. He has my vote, without my even knowing anything else about him.

Why would you be willing to trust the President and the Senate will be either willing or able to fully take care of the revisions you need to be dealt with once the legislation goes to the White House…especially since we’re only a few months away from what will be a contentious mid-term election?

If it’s a Dem congressman, ask them why they even bothered actually meeting in the first place when they could more easily have deemed a meeting held.

Ask them 1) In addition to the federal government controlling 1/6 of our economy, why did they sneak in a fed. govt. takeover of the student loan program into the bill without letting the public know? What does that have to do with healthcare?
2) What else are they sneaking into the bill without our knowledge or consent?

1)Why are you breaking you’re own 72 hour rule on posting bills before voting?
2)Why the flip flop on backroom deals, event though the white house is against them?
3)What happened to transparency and C-span?
4)CBO said that premiums will rise, only to insure half of the uninsured, most of whom don’t have insurance because they lost their jobs?
4a)Where is the hard-pivot to jobs?
5)Why not allow states to pass their own health care like Dirigo, Romney, and Tenncare; then see which are successful so they can be implemented nationwide? sort of like welfare reform in Wisconsin that latter passed in 1996. 6)etc. etc.

Beck asked this same question today. He was talking about that outrageous bit of grandstanding from the Democrats, trotting out that poor boy whose mother died “because she didn’t have health insurance.” Left out of this story, of course, is the fact that she did have health insurance when she was still working as assistant manager at Jack in the Box. She only lost it when they fired her because she was sick so often. This sounds like a wrongful termination suit to me; it has little to do with health insurance because she had insurance when she got sick! Maybe if these @sshats would get out of the way of the individual insurance markets, people could purchase their own policies instead of having to rely on their employers. Also, after she got sick and lost her insurance, she was still able to get care. She was not denied treatment.
But the point Beck made was, why wasn’t she on Medicaid? Apparently she tried to get on it and was denied. Why isn’t this the story? This happens far more frequently than one might think; I can think of two or three people right off the top of my head who by all rights should be on Medicaid and they can’t get on it for who knows what reason. One woman has MS so bad she can barely work. Her kid is enrolled in S-CHIP . . . but she can’t get on Medicaid. It makes no freaking sense.

of course we are ignorant of the bill! Nancy said we had to pass the darned thing so we could find out what was in it. You obviously were not paying attention.

If Obamacare passes, will Marshal Law be far behind. Stupak is a democrat. If it weren’t for the abortion problem, he would vote for this travesty again!

If it’s a Right, how can it be Rationed?

So, we are the ones unfamiliar with a 2700 page bill that we have been diasecting, while they have never even bothered to read it. Senator Shumer (D-Pluto), a NY attorney, said he could not read the Senate bill, it would take 5 lawyers to explain it to him, his words not mine. We have dozens of elected officials from both house and senate that are on record as never had read the bills they voted for.
No Congressman, nor Senator, wrote the bills, the bills were written by lobbiest and special interest groups.
My advice to Rep Hollen is, open your ears mister, let up educate you as to what is in a bill you never even bothered to read.

Not going to DC – couldn’t find any tar and feathers. Will be protesting in front of Bob Etheridge’s office (AGAIN) tomorrow.
Threatening to vote them out falls on deaf ears when Obama promises them positions in his adminstration, if they get voted out, after passing Obamacare.
This country is going to hell in a handbasket. I hate it for my children and my children’s children. At least I can tell them I did everything I could to stop it. Can you?

For everyone of you lucky enough to be in D.C. tomorrow, please remember that there are hundreds of us who want to be there, but can’t. So tomorrow, YOU are our representatives. I have no doubt that you will do a much better job than those we ‘hired’ to fulfill that role.

Hey man, an appeaser does what an appeaser does.

I’m going; train arrives @ Union Station @ 8:20 so I’ll be at Cannon by 9:00 start. I intend to visit Stupak’s office for certain (my mother is one of his constituents); other than that, I’ll go whereever those in the know think I can do the most good. Will have laptop PC with .PDF versions of the bills.

Anybody got a fax? Fastest way to get your point across. There are two undecided in PA; one is Kathy Dalhkemper from my hometown and Tom Ridge(D) and the other undecided is another D from Pittsburgh area.
Put all questions in a nice, civilized matter and state your opinion on the bill. Remember, there are two faxes: The one in DC and the local office.
I wish I could go but kiddos could not stand the noise. My MIL God bless her, lib will stay locked in the hotel room (pure coincidence so I warned her). I encouraged her to speak to them, very nice people, not violent at all, and most hunt and perform all sorts of woodwork, just like my in-laws. Told her to not be afraid of them.
That’ll be something for her to watch…I hope she pulls out her camera for video for me :D

My congressman is Jim Matheson, Pelosi’s not good enough, he’s dealing directly with the Big O.
