This thing is a vampire. It won’t be dead for real, ever. And this particular iteration will be with us as long as the 111th Congress continues. So watch out in November and December.

They did the mash
They did the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
They did the mash
To be imposed in a flash
They did the mash
They did the monster mash
The ghouls were having fun
The party had just begun
The guests included Kevorkian
Mengele and his son
The scene was rockin’, all were digging the sounds
America held in chains, threaten by baying hounds
The coffin-bangers were about to arrive
With their vocal group, “The Crypt-Kicker Pelosi Five”
MB4 on March 15, 2010 at 1:45 AM
I can’t believe this boils down to just a few votes and America waits with bated breath. What a nightmare. To put the cherry on top, we’ll have to listen to the self-congratulatory back-patting from now till kingdom come.

If they pass the bill they had best dig two graves.

Elsewhere, Tea Party people are lying awake worrying about the impending destruction of the United States.

Public Option is back… Page 1167 of the new bill…
Edouard on March 15, 2010 at 1:59 AM
It’s just a jump to the left
And then a step to the right
With your hands on your hips
You bring your knees in tight
But it’s the pelvic thrust that really drives you insane,
Let’s do the Time Warp again!
It’s generational theft
and keeps you up all night
All the lies on their lips
This bill’s a sleazy fright
But it’s the power grab that really drives you insayayayaane,
Let’s kill this bitch bill again!

I’m just unbelievably pissed we’re having to fight something like this. I’m stuck all week in a business conference with almost zero time on my computer, but I’ve manually sent 225 faxes since Friday to 76 “undecided” congressmen. I guess I’ll be on the “fishy” list now, but I don’t give a crap. Let them try to come get me, I’ll take a few with me before I go down. I’ll be pleasantly shocked if they end up doing the right thing, but I’m less optimistic than I’d like. If this thing passes, it’s “Let’s ROLL!” time for me.

Look carefully, abortion is in there also.
Kini on March 15, 2010 at 2:09 AM
Don’t panic on the public option. The published bill is a placeholder, not the actual bill. They’ll replace all the language after it sails through necessary committees.

“…annual caps on what insurance companies can cover…”
How ’bout an annual cap on what rogue Presidencies can get away with?
Does that prospect make you smile, Mr. Axlerod?
We are speaking.
Tuning Spork on March 15, 2010 at 2:57 AM
Apparently, that “new bill” is actually an “old shell,” which is being used to shepherd the bill through committee, only to be replaced by an entirely different reconciliation bill which will be used in the final vote — whatever else it means, it means that the entire bill, as posted, is bogus.
Is this enough, now, finally, to see this criminal enterprise for what it is?
God help us all.
notropis on March 15, 2010 at 3:21 AM
RE: shell game…When it’s done in retail it’s called ‘bait and switch’ and is illegal; results in large fines.
Of course, Congress is immune from the laws they pass. So, the Democrats post a ‘BILL’ on house.gov. three days later, the ‘bill’ is completely rewritten, and two hours later it’s voted on. This is called ‘transparency’ as defined by the Speaker of the House.

Great piece by Paul Ryan, dated Monday March 15 in the Washington Post:
Rep. paul Ryan on What Real Health Reform Should Look Like
It starts with a bang:
“Today, the House Budget Committee is to mark up a ‘reconciliation’ vehicle, initiating the greatest expansion in government and entitlement spending in a generation through a partisan process to push ‘health-care reform’ across the finish line.
“Despite claims of transparency and calls for a ‘simple up-or-down vote,’ there is nothing simple about this process. This convoluted legislative charade demonstrates how far the Democratic majority has wandered from real health-care reform and cost control, employing any means to achieve political victory…”
Edouard on March 15, 2010 at 5:02 AM
With all due respect, how do you know the public option won’t ultimately be in the bill now?
Because the Democrats promised?
Edouard on March 15, 2010 at 5:12 AM
The above goes for abortion too.
You and I and everyone in the country will be paying for elective abortions with our tax money unless this catastrophe is stopped.
Count on it.

This fascist like legislature and their enabler, Obama, are about to destroy this once great Republic. If passed their socialist healthcare aberration will result in chaos, civil unrest and in the end, national bankruptcy.

Of course he knew. He’s a Democrat from Detroit not an honest one in the bunch, just varying degrees of being on the take. And I’m sure that Ms. Conyers got all sorts of advice from her husband how best to launder her kickbacks.
The thing is that Conyers is black so he gets a free pass from the ethics committee. They call a hearing, he throws down his CBC card, and they declare him as pure as the driven snow.

Byron York’s on with Bill Bennett – Teh Precedent is rewarding his campaign support this fall to how they vote this fall on HC vote. Said he thinks they are bluffing, the pressure is high, and doesn’t know if they’ll get there or not. Nice to hear it from someone as plugged in as Byron.

It isn’t just about Republican opposition. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi must persuade, bribe and threaten to get 216 House Democrats to support this despite having 253 sitting House Democrats.
