Poll: What was the Obamateurism of the Week?

posted at 9:00 am on March 7, 2010 by Ed Morrissey

Once again, Hot Air readers need to pick a winner for Obamateurism of the Week, and like a meeting with President Obama, the process won’t be brief.  We can’t control Obama’s amateurish nature, and we’re also not going to change it despite our best efforts.  We’ll just keep asking the questions and discovering that he’s unprepared for the answers.

Previous 2010 “winners”:

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

Maybe silly, but I had to vote for the nose-picking routine. It’s just such poetic commentary on this supercilious twit.

Sarah Palin writes seven words on her palm — media fire storm.

Barry picks his nose, then eyes it fondly — crickets.

petefrt on March 7, 2010 at 9:10 AM

I actually had to go back and review each one before making my decision. When I got to the one about his being unprepared for the answer to his question, I knew that was it.

I, too, would have gone with Jay-Z, maybe it’ll be there next week. I suggest we rewatch the video of the tort reform discussion, the look on Dear Leader’s face is priceless. So, I had to go with that one. He doesn’t look like a deer in headlights, he looks like deer in tail lights.

trubble on March 7, 2010 at 9:13 AM

There was a typo on the teleprompter script:

“Of the following six talking points 1-6, pick your nos.”

Should be: “…, pick four nos.”

Ed Morrissey on March 7, 2010 at 9:16 AM

Really, the obvious choice is his bufoonery regarding the tort reform through reconciliation.

However, I had to choose his being “brief” with comments because again, “to heck with everyone else – I love the sound of my own voice, not to mention I won” mentality.

tru2tx on March 7, 2010 at 9:16 AM

Had to go with tort reform….It really showed how clueless dear leader is and that the “Health care summit” was really just a dog and pony show.

SHARPTOOTH on March 7, 2010 at 9:18 AM

As usual, a tough choice picking just one.

The most “amateur” moment above tho has to be the one about controlling the weather…We must, but we can’t.

It’s a head-scratcher!

JetBoy on March 7, 2010 at 9:19 AM

The tort reform bungle. They guy is so arrogant that he thinks history began with his ascendancy.

“why have you never done tort reform in the past if it’s so great and all?”

“your party always stops us”

“let’s move on”

Mord on March 7, 2010 at 9:19 AM

Loved, loved the booger, but had to go with the obviously more intellectual choice of challenging tort reform and then having it bite him in the @ss.

Tort reform – good thing he’s a democrat, I don’t think I could handle the daily deluge of MSM stories about what an intellectual midget this guy really is.

Trouble with tort reform is you might as well call it la-la-la reform ’cause people have no idea what it means.

3 more years of this? I wonder if Jeremiah Wright’s prayer for God to damn America is being answered.

Mojave Mark on March 7, 2010 at 9:35 AM

I had to go with the weather, simply for stating the obvious and making the mistake of admiting that we really can’t do anything about the climate. Not only that, it goes to show the guy has told so many lies he can’t keep up with himself anymore.

boomer on March 7, 2010 at 9:38 AM

Tort reform definitely as Obamateur. The rest are poor manners (Kleenex dude), lies during speechmaking when he knows he will not be immediately contested, and common narcissism (everyone be quite while we listen to my voice). Tort reform shows exactly what happens when he rambles off on his own. His shallow thought process catches up with him and lies intermixed with truth come spewing out. ” democrats don’t support tort reform, “oops” uh, I mean uh, well you Republicans didn’t try and pass tort reform. Uhhhhh, “please don’t say it. Oh damn, you caught me. They are on to me.” Ok . Let’s wrap this up.”

Definitely the tort reform. Not only should you never ask a question you don’t know the answer to in such a setting, but he should have known the answer to that question, since he was on Senate at the time. Not just an amateur but a moron.

That this is the bright side is part of the problem. With all the mess brewing in the world – Iran, potential nuclear proliferation in South America, the spread and increasing power of radical Islam in Yemen and the Horn of Africa, to name just a few obvious hot issues – we need someone in the White House with guts, balls, and a clear head. Not a utopianist wannabe socialist who couldn’t find his a$$ with a roadmap.

Obama “This isn’t a ‘Harry and Louise’ moment. It’s a ‘Thelma and Louise’ moment,” he said with laughter. “We’re in the car headed toward the cliff and we must act.”

Thelma and Louise?

Errrrrrrrrrrrr what?

Overcome with emotion, she embraces Thelma and kisses her in friendship, and she slams on the gas pedal, driving full speed ahead. Hal realizes what they are doing and runs after them, but he is too late. As Louise and Thelma hold hands in defiance, the car flies off the edge of the cliff and into the Grand Canyon below.

Basically due to an emotional hissy fit, Thelma and Louise, in an act of defiance commit suicide by driving over a cliff!

This is the “image” Obama has invoke as “Obama care”?

At lest he is honest on this one!

DSchoen on March 7, 2010 at 4:10 PM

See Instatpundit and Neo-Neocon for today’s Obamateurism. As a history buff I just like the fact that Obama doesn’t know the difference between King Arthur and Henry VIII, between Camelot and the snake-pit that was Tudor England. Perhaps it will appear on next week’s list. One can hope. Now, while, it may not be that important, as a sign of his ignorance it should be embarrassing for the smartest, best educated, man in the world.
