RNC fundraising document: Use fear of Obama’s “socialist” agenda to raise dough
posted at 7:12 pm on March 3, 2010 by Allahpundit
If it’s a day ending in “Y”, it must be time for a Politico story about the RNC alienating its fundraisers. The good news? Given Obama’s state-by-state approval ratings, if fear of The One’s agenda is the key to big money then the path to November shall be paved with bricks of gold. The bad news? Calling your donors “reactionary” and “ego-driven” isn’t usually the quickest way to their wallets.
“The document was used for a fundraising presentation Chairman Steele did not attend, nor had he seen the document,” RNC Communications Director Doug Heye said in an email. “Fundraising documents are often controversial.
“Obviously, the Chairman disagrees with the language and finds the use of such imagery to be unacceptable. It will not be used by the Republican National Committee – in any capacity – in the future,” Heye said…
The small donors who are the targets of direct marketing are described under the heading “Visceral Giving.” Their motivations are listed as “fear;” “Extreme negative feelings toward existing Administration;” and “Reactionary.”
Major donors, by contrast, are treated in a column headed “Calculated Giving.”
Their motivations include: “Peer to Peer Pressure”; “access”; and “Ego-Driven.”The slide also allows that donors may have more honorable motives, including “Patriotic Duty.”
You can view the whole powerpoint here but these are the two slides that have lefties breathing into paper bags. Note that “Visceral Giving” also includes “Issue/circumstantially oriented,” which Politico neglects to mention.

The “evil empire” gallery is stupid and amateurish (Reid as … Scooby Doo?) and “reactionary” has enough sinister connotations to qualify as an outright embarrassment, even if it wasn’t meant in the most unsavory sense of the term. But as much as we all enjoy dumping on the Steele-run RNC, I don’t quite follow Ambinder’s logic that this proves Republican donors are being “manipulated.” The base has been anxious about the White House’s statist agenda since Inauguration Day; the GOP doesn’t have to manufacture what already exists. In which case, the “manipulation” in their fundraising pitch is … what? “If you’re worried about Obama, help us defeat him”? Scandal. As for manipulating big donors by playing to their egos, fair enough, but surely wealthy contributors aren’t so naive that they don’t realize that’s part of the game. When my insurance agent tells me he likes my tie, I don’t seriously think he likes my tie. If I’m smart enough to detect an ego stroke in process, I take it millionaires are too.
Frankly, this unforced error was almost worth committing to watch the DNC hysterically overreact to the idea of fear-based politics. Sample quote:
If you had any doubt, any doubt whatsoever, that the Republican Party has been taken over by the fear-mongering lunatic fringe, those doubts were erased today…
It is a sad commentary on the state of the Republican Party that, devoid of ideas and solutions to our nation’s problems, problems created on their watch, that they would resort to these type of tactics. It’s sad. But true.
This comes on the very day that Obama rolled out his new health-care bill as the product of the best of Democratic and Republican ideas. But oh well. I’ll leave you with this golden oldie, also from the studiously fear-avoiding Democratic National Committee. Enjoy it, you racist woman-hating warmongering teabaggers, you.

Someone explain to me how that isnt Fearmongering ?

Totally OT, but a sincere question to both AP and Ed: I’ve been seeing increasing comments that they are cracking down on foul language…OK, great, no problem, but don’t be hypocritical and post the video of “Past Presidents” and then crack down on people using terms like, “Azzclown” “Sheet” “Kraaap.”
These are simply examples, I don’t know that I’ve seen these specific terms noted as unacceptable, but I sure had a great time (just kiddding!!!!!!) using them with impunity.
…No, seriously, I don’t go for blatently foul language, but, c’mon guys, get a diaper!
Chewy the Lab on March 3, 2010 at 7:21 PM
The GOP has been Hannitized!
…and that ain’t good.
Once again the GOP shows itself to be clumsy, ineffectual, out-of-touch; opting for the political angle instead of the issues-oriented approach.
Ho hum.

Unforced error….hmmmm.
I’d like to see a poll. Was this doc:
A. Left on a sofa by a drunk R late for a golf game with his buddies and picked up by a hotel staff member who gave it to his union boss?
B. Left on a table in a room where a DNC mole was hanging out?
C. Handed out at a meeting that had a DNC/Soros mole attending
D. Hacked from a server?
E. The orginal PPT, with a couple of splices made by the DNC before they gave it to Ben Smith
F. Just another example that the RNC are morons during a time of great political change

Allahpundit, I recommend DVRing the 2AM reairring of Glenn Beck tonight. You and others around here who fear being mocked as radical conspiracy theorists can no longer deny what is going on, and you should be using your soapbox to expose the Cloward-Piven shiite that’s going down in Washington. Ignore the fact that Obama’s only friends and advisors are radicals, terrorists, anti-Semmites, anti-white, anti-capitalist, Mao fan, conspiracy theorists and just look at the fact that Andy Stern is at the White House so often he likely has his own bedroom by now. Now think about the drastic decline in the available funds promised to unions just in the last 2 decades. Consider why Obama would put this guy on this panel (not to mention GE’s failure Immelt as an economic adviser). Then watch the clips of things Stern has been saying just in the past year or two.
Are any of you still in denial about what is happening? Do you really think all of this spending is just “stupid”/”mistake”, or do you now see that this is part of a broader plan to collapse the economy and “fundamentally transform” (Obama’s words) the country?
This wasn’t even one of those shows Beck hyped long before it aired, but it’s arguably one of the most shocking I’ve seen because there is no longer an argument about what is happening. All of the uncovered videos from Naked Emperor News are great, as are the unscripted comments about wealth redistribution, praise of ACORN and SEIU, and how they are essentially his advisers, and just watch this one show, PLEASE!

Who freakin cares; Republicans and Conservatives have a hard time getting off much needed money to support their candidates. This is the truth of the matter. Liberals have known this for decades, and have won many an election flooding the airwaves with lies and fabrications right before the vote. Where do progressive communist shit heads get all of their money? Trial lawyers, Media scumbags, and Unions.
Simple fact is money is needed to fight the bastardization of the Liberal machine.

Like I always say: All of you who are convinced that Obama’s got some master strategy to wreck America deliberately should run on that. The left never has the courage of its convictions on its own kooky theories, like how the truly “brave” are the ones who don’t fret too much about terrorism. They should run honestly on that idea and see how the public reacts. Same with you and neurosculptor: Show those of us the way who are too blind to see what’s “really going on.” Run on your principles. See how you do.

I think there’s many people on the Right and Left who still have no idea what happened in MA, and I don’t mean simply Scott Brown’s victory. In some ways, I think even Scott missed some of what really happened. Anybody who thinks what’s going on right now is politics as usual is clueless.
There’s no need to appear “reasonable” to Independents. The Independents that people like AP are always so worried about influencing are the people leading the parade and they don’t have smiles on their faces.

I’m not running for anything and I don’t see why that would even be an issue. Most people aren’t running for office. But, as to my position, I have been holding the same view of The Precedent and his intentions, since the beginning. I have made predictions about his actions (most recently with my assessment of the health scare summit and what would come of it) and have been generally correct. That’s not good enough for you, just as a matter of understanding whether my view is correct, or not?
And, this is not about “principles”. We are far beyond principles. This is about the continued existence of this nation, intact – which I am not optimistic about, and haven’t been since Nov 4th, 2008, when it was perfectly clear how badly this nation had screwed the pooch.
But, as to The Precedent’s intentions, I find it hard for you to make any reasonable argument that his intentions are different from what I have always said they were – exacting revenge on the US and the West. You might want him to be different, but you can’t point to a single policy or decision of his that was not oriented towards harming this nation and bringing pain to its citizenry – well … except for when he’s skimming federal dollars off for his buddies.

What are you talking about with all of this “run on” nonsense? I’m not running for anything. I’m just talking about what’s going down.
It’s interesting that you always choose to argue appearances (whether we’ll look like kooks or not), and never the substance. Have you watched the clips of Andy Stern? Yeah, he’s talking about what a great time it is that we have a president who’s usering in a “new” American economic system that is controlled by the government, rather than the private sector. He goes on to talk about “shared prosperity” i.e. making us all poor will at least make us all “equal”. Knowing this, do you not find it strange that he is far and away the leader on the list of WH visitors… Why, why would this be? Can you explain why of all people that could be visiting the WH dozens upon dozens of times, while big name pols may have been there a time or two? And now he’s part of the deficit panel? Why? Unions future promised benefit outlook is as bad as SS and Medicare (i.e. there’s a “deficit”). Why would we put the #1 union guy in the country in charge of handling the nation’s deficit?
Do you even wonder why Obama’s friends and advisers are (as I always say) radicals, terrorists, anti-Semmites, anti-white, anti-capitalist, Mao fan, conspiracy theorists? Do you deny that Obama stands arm in arm with the ACORNs and SEUIs of the world above anyone else?
Again, you can be a O’Reilly of hte internet and not want to have the left mock you, so you are dishonest with your audience by omission… but don’t talk to me about what I’m “running on”, because I’m not “running” anywhere or for anything.
What is so difficult about explaining of these things (which are just a drop in the bucket), if they’re just kooky conspiracy theory nonsense?
RightWinged on March 3, 2010 at 8:24 PM
Allahpundit, the scope of your thinking is to narrow.
I believe in going after Obama with combined arms; hitting him from 5 directions simultaneously.
If it sounds like Karl Marx, acts like Benito Mussolini, lies like Joe Isuzu, attracts followers eerily reminiscent of those Jim Jones attracted and stumbles like Bozo the Clown, it’s probably Barack Obama!!!!!

If you’re worrying about the independents and not Oliar, your denial is part of the problem.
The radical left needs to be confronted, defeated and destroyed. Because if they aren’t, our Republic will be history.

RightWinged on March 3, 2010 at 8:30 PM
Allahpundit, I’ve got a simpler question for you (although I doubt you’ll respond because your goal is only to marginalize, not think about the points we’re raising)
Here’s the simple question:
Do YOU think that Obama or any of his advisers, or anyone in Washington… or in the country for that matter really believe any of this is sustainable?
RightWinged on March 3, 2010 at 8:37 PM
Yeah, the alternative is that he (and the DC Dems) are just unbelievably dense, and despite the overwhelming evidence that they’re destroying the country, they just don’t ‘get it’?
On the other hand, the “intentionally trying to ruin the country” group can point to Obama’s incessant lying, the overt claims that he intends to do things that will ruin entire industries, cause skyrocketing energy prices, etc. Gee, all of that sounds intentional (you know, the part where he’s saying he intends to do it).
You don’t see it that way though, eh?

Barack Obama is a Fabian socialist. I should know; I was raised by one. My Grandfather worked as a union machinist for Ingersoll Rand during the day. In the evenings he tended bar and read books. After his funeral, I went back home and started working my way through his library, starting with T.W. Arnold’s The Folklore of Capitalism. This was my introduction to the Fabian socialists.
Arnold taught me to question everyone–my president, my priest and my parents. Well, almost everyone. I wasn’t supposed to question the Fabian intellectuals themselves. That’s the Fabian MO, relentless cultural and journalistic attacks on everything that is, and then a hard pitch for the hope of what might be.
That’s Obama’s world.
He’s telling the truth when he says that he doesn’t agree with Bill Ayers’ violent bombing tactics, but it’s a tactical disagreement. Why use dynamite when mass media and community organizing work so much better? Who needs Molotov when you’ve got Saul Alinski?

Obama’s Double-Talk
While the president talks sobriety, his policies take America on an economic bender.
Barack Obama’s revelatory moment may have come in his first week as president. On his first day of work, he signed an executive order prohibiting lobbyists from holding highranking administration jobs, thereby fulfilling a campaign promise to “close the revolving door” between K Street and government via “the most sweeping ethics reform in history.” Two days later, the president granted a “waiver” from the new rules to install Raytheon lobbyist William Lynn as the No. 2 man in the Pentagon.
As offenses go, the move was trivial. But as a signal of a governing pathology, it established a pattern that Obama has repeated serially since being sworn into office: reiterate a high-sounding promise from the campaign, undermine said promise with a concrete act of governance to the contrary, then claim with a straight face that the campaign promise has been and will continue to be fulfilled.
Once you identify the president’s tic of celebrating the very campaign promises that he breaks, you’ll see it everywhere.

AP, I think you should replace the word reactionary with anticipatory. It’s more a case of understanding the radical
left’s plan. It’s all out in the open for all who care to develop strategies. And it will have to be a multi-faceted approach.
Know well that they will try to make us “play” by our own
self conscious and self defeating rules.
Make new rules without notice and without apology. If that is reactionary, then I can live with that, since the living won’t be good under the leftists.

I have made predictions about his actions (most recently with my assessment of the health scare summit and what would come of it) and have been generally correctneurosculptor on March 3, 2010 at 8:05 PM

“All’s fair in love and WAR” This is an all out war for the survival of the U.S. as we have known it. Take the gloves off and defeat these Racist, Communist, Muslin, Thieving,Lying, democrats. It is good to see conservatives realize that they are fighting the battle of their lives! These communists have infested local, state, and federal governments. Hopefully the coming avalanche will sweep them all out of office!

Ok, my formatting sucks but you get the point.

Your big prediction, though – that the United States will cease to exist by May 2011 at the latest is the one I’m really looking forward to.
