Quotes of the day

posted at 9:30 pm on February 27, 2010 by Allahpundit

“I, for one, genuinely wish that the climate crisis were an illusion. But unfortunately, the reality of the danger we are courting has not been changed by the discovery of at least two mistakes in the thousands of pages of careful scientific work over the last 22 years by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. In fact, the crisis is still growing because we are continuing to dump 90 million tons of global-warming pollution every 24 hours into the atmosphere — as if it were an open sewer…

“But the scientific enterprise will never be completely free of mistakes. What is important is that the overwhelming consensus on global warming remains unchanged. It is also worth noting that the panel’s scientists — acting in good faith on the best information then available to them — probably underestimated the range of sea-level rise in this century, the speed with which the Arctic ice cap is disappearing and the speed with which some of the large glacial flows in Antarctica and Greenland are melting and racing to the sea…

“The heavy snowfalls this month have been used as fodder for ridicule by those who argue that global warming is a myth, yet scientists have long pointed out that warmer global temperatures have been increasing the rate of evaporation from the oceans, putting significantly more moisture into the atmosphere — thus causing heavier downfalls of both rain and snow in particular regions, including the Northeastern United States. Just as it’s important not to miss the forest for the trees, neither should we miss the climate for the snowstorm…

“From the standpoint of governance, what is at stake is our ability to use the rule of law as an instrument of human redemption. After all has been said and so little done, the truth about the climate crisis — inconvenient as ever — must still be faced.”

***
“The former vice president apparently finds it inconvenient even to answer calls to testify before the U.S. Senate. You can call him Al . . . but he won’t call back

“After days of calls and e-mails by FoxNews.com to the ‘Al Gore Support Center’ — located online at algoresupportcenter.com and in the real world in Carthage, Tenn — a spokeswoman for Gore declined to comment on the matter.

“‘Thank you for your kind request,’ wrote Kalee Kreider. ‘Unfortunately, Mr. Gore’s schedule is extremely overbooked and we’re unable to offer any availability. It’s very difficult to decline invitations such as yours, but it’s an unfortunate inevitability of the growing influence of the climate-crisis message and the demand on Mr. Gore’s time. We do apologize, but thanks for your interest.’”

***
“At the first opportunity for audience participation just several minutes into the proceeding, a longtime and well-known Apple shareholder–some would say gadfly–who introduced himself as Shelton Ehrlich, stood at the microphone and urged against Gore’s re-election to the board. Gore ‘has become a laughingstock. The glaciers have not melted,’ Ehrlich said, referring to Gore’s views on global warming. ‘If his advice he gives to Apple is as faulty as his views on the environment then he doesn’t need to be re-elected.’”

I do know that Biden’s motorcade, without Biden in it, had another accident in which Peggy Fleming (oldsters like me will remember her as the prima figure skater of the 1960s) was injured.

Keep researching. The answers are not hard to find. It’s a revelation, and you will find that in the end, there are no mysteries.

Politicians are easy to read. Follow the money. Follow the money. Even if you don’t want to see the end of the trail, follow the money.

That is where we are.

And when you come to the end of the trail you will be outraged and angry if you respect yourself and what our country stands for.

Beating on this again: Except for the fact that in 2007 the same people were blaming the lack of snowfall on global warming. Look Al, you can’t have it both ways, you can’t have scientists and politicians claiming in 2007 that the catastrophic lack of snowfall and associated drought is a result of global warming and then 3 years later claim that the warmer climate caused by global warming is responsible for the catastrophic snowfalls being experienced. Science doesn’t work that way, you don’t get to hold a theory that says no matter what happens, your theory is proved and therefore you should be able to get politicians to take peoples’ freedoms away in order to mitigate whatever happens.

Cody, Great Britain and Australia are already waking up to this. Aussies just barely missed getting slapped with a huge cap & trade and the Brits have been getting heavily regulated and taxed by both UK and the EU for some time now.

The haughty triumvirate of Grahamnesty-Lieberman-Lurch (Kerry) may try to say they are dumping cap & trade from their bill but read into it and tell me it is not, just like Obamacare, a backdoor to their desired ends.

Lamar Alexander and Jim Webb put together what I thought was a good energy bill proposal but apparently can’t get to square one with it due to the AGW Senate Trio’s shennanigans.

From the standpoint of governance, what is at stake is our ability to use the rule of law as an instrument of human redemption.

Al knew those Divinity School classes would come in handy some day.

If he’d only finished, though, he would have understood that “redemption” is never accomplished by “the rule of law.”

He gets an F in theology- again.

cs89 on February 27, 2010 at 11:31 PM

One more thing.

Al Gore, Obama and a host of others promoted the snake oil of “Global Warming/Climate Change” in order to rip off us. They can never get enough off raping the ordinary folks. We’re, as you probably have figured out, are the ones who are too stupid to understand what they’re talking about.

Not true. We do know what they’re doing. Inherently, in our souls we know they are charlatans. Now that the false science has been revealed they are scrambling. Trading Carbon Credits, increased taxes and all that this scam will entail will only create another asset buble that taxpayers will be left paying for.

Let’s be short about this. If Al Gore and his creepy minions invaded your community, you would run them out of town on a rail with tar and feathers. Right? They’re just too creepy for words.

Never forget what Gore, the UN and all the other crazies have tried to do to you. You are smart, hard working, decent Americans who know better and deserve better.

Demand transparency on every level of government – the people who work for you. Accept nothing less.

Let’s turn the Titanic around!

He did get more nuke power for SC recently….hmmm…was that a bone to keep him on the Cap and Trade wagon?

journeyintothewhirlwind on February 27, 2010 at 11:33 PM

There’s one very good reason why this roadshow preacher can’t take interviews. That’s a very good place for a process server to nail him with personal service of a summons and a lawsuit.

If cap $ trade does not go through, there are going to be some might ticked off moneychangers who will want their cash back. And if Prince Albert doesn’t fork it over, they will go after him with lawyers.

He needs to avoid service at all costs. The instant he’s served, the plaintiffs will be in court asking for an order freezing his assets. Because of the amount of money at stake, they’ll get that court order.

My advice? Buy popcorn – it will be a great show.

So we’re adding more by-products than the product we’re starting with??

It’s late – someone please help. I don’t want to look foolish with a math mistake.

hamnj7 on February 27, 2010 at 11:02 PM

I don’t trust Al’s math by a long shot, but consider this:
~Consuming oil by it self doesn’t produce CO2
~gas engines combust at about 1 part gas to 12~14 parts oxygen by volume, not weight – forget the oxy equivalent by weight
~powerplants and heaters also produce CO2, vol/weight depends on what they burn
~and of course air breathers produce CO2 when breathing
All factors that add to the CO2 tonnage.

And consider this, for all the talk of deforestation, we have more trees in the US than when the pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock. Trees just love CO2 – they’d die w/o it.

OK, I though he said we had to worry about rising sea levels flooding everyone out. But, if the rate of evaporation of the oceans is increasing, and the moisture is collecting on land as snow, which isn’t running off, shouldn’t the ocean levels be decreasing?

I don’t think Al Gore will ever give up or shut up. He has billions to lose if cap and trade is not passed in some form or another, and I believe he is getting pressure from the other investors he has taken along for the ride. wi farmgirl on February 27, 2010 at 11:26 PM

You are one, righteous person who can call Bull $hit on it, and you can bug your representatives until they hate the sound of your voice.

All around the country people are screaming. I read everything I can, and I read the comments. For sure, there is some confusion, but people are reaching the same point – They’ve had enough.

WE employ the people in DC. They work for us, and we must finally get to the point where we hold them to the same standards we are held to in our daily work.

Like so many others I am at fault. We assume (wrongly) that our elected representatives will reflect our wishes. No. That is wrong. We have to keep after them and constantly evaluate what they are doing. They are employees. And they have the ability to access the piggybank. To them it’s endless money. To us it’s more taxes.

You really have more power than you think. Who the hell is Soros? I can tell you. He isn’t some sort of wizard or god. He’s a guy with one hell of an attitude, but he’s no better than you or me. Again, do some research. He’s just a guy who bought some influence, and he thinks that we Americans have forgot who we are.

We have not. You are important. Everyone who reads this blog is important.

We’re here because we want our country back. We employed people to represent us, and we will make sure they do. If not, we fire them.

The bottom line is this. It isn’t a complicated process. If our employees do not do their job, we fire them by voting them out. You/We are the boss, and we’re in control.
YOU are in control.

wi, I’m not screaming at you.:) I just want understand that you are important and that wherever you are you can add your voice and make a difference.

Hey guys we built a fort. It’s 3/4 done, has a SLIDE for the kids, and we got enough snow to make another one to do snowball fights.

How to do it? Recycle bins, buckets, just like at the beach, but almost 5′ tall. After you’re done with the base, you can close it in with a nice tunnel and to make a bridge, get plywood, connect the two snow pillar blocks made with the recycle bins and build the bridge, just put more snow on top of it.

I will take final pics tomorrow, we put a flag and Mr. PPF will put spotlights. Every single car has to slow down to check us out. We did this like three Xmas ago and we were asked all the time if we were the people that built the castle. Nice the snow can be packed so nice it can form a perfect brick out of a recycle bin.

This is the yo-yo effect that keeps perpetuating the myth of AGW.

When it’s cold here, in the upper hemisphere, it’s warm in the lower hemisphere. Therefore, some AGW disciple of Gore makes a claim of the warmest January, relevant to the Southern hemisphere.

Meanwhile, the Arctic ice shelf continues to grow. Notice that’s not in the News anymore. Also, an iceberg broke off the Antarctic ice shelf, that makes news.

Since the earth tilts at a 23 degree axis and revolves around a big candle in the sky, direct heat effect different parts of the planet at different times.

Hey, that climate change! But lets not get into the Pacific Decadal Oscillation or my head will explode.

Kini on February 28, 2010 at 1:19 AM

A theory in which all evidence, warm summers, cold winters, fake data, proves it only proves that theory can’t be proven true or false. Fake but accurate is not science.

Just because he supports our troops and what they do, doesn’t make him an exceptional national – security hawk

macncheez on February 28, 2010 at 1:26 AM

1) You are absolutely right. In fact, I think there is a reasonable argument that if you are for open boarders, you want the opposite of defense.

2) I’ve found that the term “hawk” is usually used for the likes of Graham – aka open boarder, globalists that believe that the US (or some power representing our interests) should be involved in every strategic move around the world… just don’t secure the border, please.

The conservative movement needs to seriously reconsider some of their rhetoric when it comes to our “hawks” and military leadership. Of course we should support our troops – after all, they are doing our country’s bidding while the military bureaucrats debate whether or not they should look for more Ft Hood loons or repeal DADT. That said, I struggle with the entire notion of nation building (something that isn’t immediately “defense”) when we are letting our own nation crumble and giving up more and more sovereignty.

Curious how when the sun comes up in the morning we have a period of global warming and when it goes down in the evening we have a period of global cooling. Hmmm I believe I’m making an important scientific discovery. You think I should tell Al Gore?

docdave on February 28, 2010 at 1:53 AM

Global Warming = Global Cooling because warming causes extreme things to happen (such as cooling). Duh!!!

How do you correlate the Tea Party, and reconciliation with the Conservative movement?

I see it as the culmination of true conservatives fighting to take back the country. Although, some at Redstate would ban any and all extremists, birthers, Oath Keepers, Berch Tree, et al….. ugh

Anyway…. you know who I think can put it all together.

Oh, that’s right… I forgot… We don’t want to be too fringe. ;-)

Here’s the thing, Tea Partiers, Berchers (hehehe_, Oath Keepers, &c are often extreme simply because philosophically speaking, they are more on the right extreme of the political spectrum. Somehow “extreme” has become a bad thing when we talk about politics. Now, some of that probably has to do with extremist communists, Islamists, and such, but why is it that anything that is “extreme” or “fringe” gets waved aside without a fair look.

There’s a Van Jones headline… You know, Beck has said he isn’t so much angered by what Van Jones is… He is simply asking, “Obama, is this what you agree with?”

BTW, you might be right… there might be a special lady that can unite all of these “extremists”

True Dat.

What I sense is “Reaganesque”. An ability to focus the fringe groups, centrists, religious traditionalists, and all sides of the compass into a cohesive force.

And she doesn’t even have to run for office.

I for one genuinely wish that Al Gore was an illusion – unfortunately he is all too real – he still cannot get over Florida 2000 – all this global warming hysteria is his vengeance on the American people for the elections.

You didnt elect Gore to be your President ? Let him torment you for the rest of your life with his global warming CR**P and make tons of money while he is at it.

This AGW hoax HAS TO BE the mother of all hoaxes ever.

AGW

can it be described as …

Law of nature…NO
A Theorem…NO
Hypothesis..NO
Stastistical analyses..NO
Graphs..NO
Co-ordinates of a graph ( Time v temp )..NO
Raw data of temp ..NO
Unscientific / anecdotal observations..NO

But we should bet trillions of our dollars legislating and taxing , based on AGW
to achieve what exactly ?

The Canadians invaded our country and burned down the White House. Are we really going to let them get away with this??????

El_Terrible on February 28, 2010 at 4:56 AM

One day an Englishman, an American, and a Canadian walked into a pub together. The proceeded to each buy a pint of Molson Canadian. Just as they were about to enjoy their beverage three flys landed in each of their pints, and were stuck in the head of the beer.

The Englishman pushed his beer away from him in disgust.

The American fished the offending fly out of his beer and continued drinking it as if nothing had happened.

The Canadian too , picked the fly out of his drink, held it out over the beer and then started yelling “SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT YOU BASTARD!!!!”

There were three guys, an American, an Englishman, and a Canadian. They were all going to be executed. The executioner said that since all three were to be executed that night, that they would each get to choose the method by which they would die.

Their choices were: lethal injection, electric chair or by hanging. The American was afraid of needles and didn’t want to be hanged. The American chose the electric chair. He sat in the chair and they pulled the switch and nothing happened. The executioner said that if this happens a second time that he could go free. They tried a second time and again nothing happened so they set him free.

The Englishman was also afraid of needles and didn’t want to be hanged so he too chose the electric chair. Once again, the chair didn’t work and he was free.

Next it was the Canadian’s turn to pick how he was to be executed. He said “I’m afraid of needles, the electric chair won’t work so you’re going to have to hang me”.

Anyone who was around in the silicon valley during the mid-1990s will back me up on this :

During those groooovy dot com boom years, Al Gore was a permanent fixture here, hanging out with startup millionaires , basically being a bad@$$ among the nerds.

He used to peddle his power and reach into the WH and his speciality was assuring SV CEOs that he can bring down Bill Gates and Microsoft . It was an open secret that almost every SV powerplayer despised Bill Gates , calling him arrogant and phoney.
That was the time when magically every government in Europe started dragging Microsoft into their courts, mainly for MS’s monopoly of OS . MS legal teams was all over Europe and media all over the world was waiting for the fall of Bill Gates and Microsoft. But it didn’t happen. Gore
couldn’t deliver , although he had been paid pretty handsomely, but that was the time when he ended up inventing the internet .
When instead the dot com busted , Al Gore faded out from the SV’s VC scene, until he could find something else to peddle to the tech industry. He found AGW

Now after the AGW going bust , he will have to comeup with something else because his first invention of the internet busted his second invention of GW.
Its only a matter of time

There was an airplane carrying three teams.
First team was an American CEO with 2 young beautiful secretaries.

The second team was a French CEO with one male and one female secretary.

The third team was a Canadian ( Sorry Canopfr :-)) CEO with 2 gorgeous secretaries.

The plane crashed, but the 3 teams survived.
While they were waiting for rescue
the American had fun with both his secs
The Frenchman had fun with both the man and the woman sec on his team
The Canadian is still waiting for government orders !!
