I … did not see this coming. But after a thousand speeches and interviews on this subject, it stands to reason that he’s running low on material. So here’s his entry, I guess, in the local junior-high “What the Olympics Mean to Me” essay contest. Hope you win those Miley Cyrus tickets, champ. For bonus fun, try to imagine the left’s reaction if Palin had touted the Games as inspiration for the Dems to, say, abandon reconciliation. Oh, those simple-minded, pandering teabaggers…
It’ll be sweet watching him back away from this hosanna to national unity next week after he gives the order to nuke the GOP’s filibuster. (One of Pelosi’s top aides claims they’re “reasonably confident” they can get a bill through the House if Reid can get 50 in the Senate.) Below the clip of Barry O you’ll find the GOP rebuttal delivered by Tom Coburn. Deer in the headlights, alas.

Jeez, this thread is still running? Well, just like in high school, I have come up with some witty repartee 6 hours after the fact.
To capture the true Olympic spirit, Teh Won could propose a new event — The Obama toss. Why throw a boring object like a javelin or discus when we could throw politicians instead. Say there is a lake of fire for the first 20 feet of the field, with an incentive field of a bed of nails at 60 feet. Now make every federally elected member of Congress have to participate in this event as a tossee. Why, the possibilities are endless and ratings would be through the roof worldwide. Everyone already knows how popular dwarf tossing is. I suspect very few members would make it into the safe zone of 20.1 to 59.9 feet.

Did the President just single out for praise a skater who was disqualified from his last race? Apolo Ohno then blamed the DSQ on the Canadian ref. Apparently, Ohno hadn’t adequately explained his complicated position for the backward, ignorant official. Let me be clear: Olympic Medals have been awarded by reconciliation lots of times. But no one’s talking about reconciliation here.
