Quotes of the day
posted at 10:40 pm on February 25, 2010 by Allahpundit
“More likely to be white and male than the general population, tea partyers also skew toward middle age or older. That’s the tell. Most came of age in the 1960s, an era distinguished by widespread disrespect for government. In their wonder years, they learned that politics was about protesting the Establishment and shouting down the Man. No wonder they’re doing that now…
“The tea party is a harbinger of midlife crisis, not political crisis. For men of a certain age, it offers a counterculture experience familiar from adolescence — underground radio, esoteric tracts, consciousness-raising teach-ins and rallies replete with extroverted behavior to shock the squares — all paid for with ample cash…
“Ah, tea partyer, we know ye well. One of your signs says ‘Listen to ME!’ That’s all that’s ever really mattered — the original ‘me generation’ grabbing the spotlight and the world’s attention by whatever means necessary. The rest, whether beads, bell bottoms or birther slogans, is just a means to the same end.”

This is a typical lib tactic, to compare a segment of a group to a different group that is disliked. The Left does this all the time with Pub candidates, like stressing he/she isn’t as tough on abortion as are Fundamentalist Christians, to keep the Christians from voting for the candidate. It’s sickening to me–Dems always show disdain for Bible-thumpers, then try acting like our ‘friends’ come election time.
This is the same old ploy, to turn as many people as possible from the Tea Party movement by comparing the TP-ers to hippies. The problem for the libs, though, is that we conservatives can think on our own, and know there’s no comparison of today’s movement with the protesters of the 60s.

HMMMMMMMMMMMM ” come to age in 1960 ? so the math is 1960 MINUS 18 = 1942 ?
sounds like that makes them Senior Citizens or AARP targets to me ?
Funny how this comes out and Charlie Rangel’s hand slap for taking a trip ( but no mention of his tax evasion or real estate scams )
Obama stunk it up today and they are in spin mode
Anyone else NOTICE that Hillary is becoming increasing VOCAL and critical of US policy the last 3-4 days ?
Is she reminding Obama he promised her a Seat on the SUPREME COURT and she wants it NOW?
Or is she ready to start campaigning for him?
Bad news for Obama I think even conservatives could unite behind her , rather than vote for a weak candidate like McCain ..anything but more NOBAMA

Hey now! As someone who has attended a tea party (not TEA party — where’d you get that from?) protest in Los Angeles, I can confirm that there are normal Americans even there. As I recall the one last February had people of all ages, a mix of libertarians, conservatives, and moderates, with a high concentration of homeschool mothers and kids (it was a weekday). Aside from the organizers and journalists, few people appeared to be “professional” protest attendees.

Like I aid before, after this inexperienced fool, does anyone think America will again elect an inexperienced person who can read a good speech but not interview well and sounds like a walking talking point. I think NOT. Good night all. I love Sarah, but not as my candidate. I am not impressed for the position of president.
immigrantchick on February 25, 2010 at 11:31 PM
Let me get this straight. Now critics are telling us that tea partiers are the people who went to Woodstock, held the sit-ins at Berkeley and Columbia, blew up federal buildings, and triggered the riots at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago?
I thought those were the people currently running the government and the closest thing that Obama has to friends.
BuckeyeSam on February 25, 2010 at 11:32 PM
Nobody’s saying that they’re ALL white and middle aged. Why are you so defensive about it? I KNOW they’re diverse, the one in downtown manhattan was definitely NOT 100% white (hell, it couldn’t have been…i was there). But saying that they’re diverse and that they’re mostly white are not mutually exclusive things…
ernesto on February 25, 2010 at 11:32 PM
Tea Partiers are a bunch of middle age white, racist, nazi, astroturf, 40-something, anti-establishment, anarchists, truther, birther, male, female, Palin supporting, libertarian, far right, fringe people?

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? Over.
Whoever this author is, you gotta give him credit for a big pair of brass ones. The sheer chutzpah of making statement like the above when his chosen candidate inhabiting the White House attempting to destroy the Constitution has as his entire cabinet a bevy of 60′s radicals who WERE protesting against the man in the 60′s, whose earliest supporter bombed the Pentagon in the 60′s.
Those in the Tea Party movement were the ones who weren’t protesting in the 60′s. Now they have to defend the country from the radicals who were.
/Whatta moron
AZfederalist on February 25, 2010 at 11:41 PM
Here is my own highly opinionated theory:
I think that the tea partiers are mostly white because most of black America has had a different version of American history taught to them and sees America differently in general than most white people. Truth be told, they are overwhelmingly liberal and support Obama – the complete opposite of tea partiers.
My version of American history is that the Founders were great men and the Constitution is a great document. I can understand how many even non-liberal black people would not think that way, even without being exposed to the lies of the Left. I also think the sort of “colonial” imagery may be off-putting to some African Americans for obvious reasons.
WisCon on February 25, 2010 at 11:41 PM
Not just African Americans.

Tea Party folks in my area are 30s and 40s. It’s the ME Generation they are out protesting. All those dirty leftover people from the 60′s running the show. They should a kept on the drugs, maybe the country would be better off.

Caiwyn on February 25, 2010 at 11:45 PM
Look buddy, I am just trying to give you a chance to clarify your point in your first comments. Perhaps I misread (and if I did I apologize) but I took it that you lamented or made a point of the fact that over 50% of the tea party were white males. My question is, what difference does that make?
conservnut on February 25, 2010 at 11:45 PM
You may be right, but I’ve heard some black people say that they are so thankful that their ancestors were brought here, even as slaves, because they get to live here in America and not some dangerous, corrupt sh!thole in Africa. Really, more people should be grateful that they are here.

mrsmwp on February 25, 2010 at 11:48 PM
Perhaps. Also most Americans are white and middle-class. Why shouldn’t the majority of any randomly-selected crowd be white and middle-class? I agree that education and culture are both particularly aggressive in assaulting people of color with anti-American themes. Most white people are not made from a young age to constantly think about their skin color and “white history” or “white culture” etc., but there are many voices telling blacks and latinos how they should think about things.

I like Palin, but she seemed almost as uninformed about healthcare as the Dems did at the summit today. Study up, gov, or stay off the tube. I flipped channels and found a doctor on CNN who held my interest longer the Palin did tonight. And Palin looked hotter than usual.
Maybe it’s Hannity’s inane questions, I don’t know. For my money, she seems to interview well only with Greta.

Please. People’s TRUE attitudes about the US can be found in the population flow numbers. The fact is that everyone wants to come to the US and almost none ever want to leave.
Your protestations mean nothing in the face of the population flows which PROVE that the US is better for all people than any other nation. It is that fact that REALLY ticks a lot of people off. Not you, but people you are shilling for.

Joe, the original TEA parties a year ago were formed from the position of Taxed Enough Already. Your experience was the same as mine on the first protest that I had ever attended on April 15. As a member of the maligned ’60′s cohort, I can tell you that most of us led law-abiding productive lives during that time and beyond. We were the silent majority. The media promoted the age of flower power and fiery protests. Now we see those same burnouts in the photography of zombietime during assorted San Francisco parades and protests. They would not be fit for prime time news whereas any TEA party gathering would be in contrast…unless of course the news crew would focus on some troll interloper.

“Jim Spencer and Curtis Ellis are Democratic political consultants based in Boston and New York”
That is all you need to know about this waste of ink. This article in the LA Times is simply two life-long Democratic Party loyalists masking a “Olbermann-lite” meme on how us (Tea-Party Members) are white male racists.
Now that they see more “expose’s” come about as to who we are, these writers/hacks see that we are not the dolts the Matthews and Olby’s of the Left say we are. So….what to do?
Simple. Place on a new label and skew the demonization with a new slant. We are simply spoiled cry-babies, get it?
Oh….and don’t forget…we are mostly white…and racist.

The tea party I attended last April here in San Antonio was an extremely diverse group. The one thing we all had in common was how angry we are at what is going on in Washington. The sad thing that I have witnessed here in SAT is the group who organized that event has splintered, and there have been accusations and counter accusations of fraud, etc. In a way, it reminded me of the labor unions, which started off with the best of intentions but then mutated into the ugly evil organizations they are today.

I hope they get a good turn out. But there’s some problems with this. First of all, it’s being led by a politician. Hannan’s a good guy, and probably the best they can come up with, but believe me, by US Tea Party standards, he’s pretty liberal. He’d fit in MA or any east coast city. Other problem is that he just gave people 2 days notice for the tea party. He should have turned it over to some interested citizens and let them fly with it. Third issue is that Hannan is motivated by partisan politics. David Cameron of the Conservative party is not pulling a commanding lead in the polls over Gordon Brown because he reneged on a promise to hold a referendum on EU membership. Brits are furious about that, and many former Tory voters are voting 3rd party. Hannan is doing some damage control for the party by catering to the anti-tax sentiment which is a valid grievance.
atheling on February 26, 2010 at 12:27 AM
Oh, Lord. They’re delusional. Since they were in the hippie groups doing the flower power thing, drugs, sex and rock-n-roll, they assume that conservatives must just be in that same mindset, only forty years later than they were.
Don’t they get it? We’re the adults at this party. We know how to measure consequences. If you spend too much, you have no money. If you tax too much, you have no jobs. If you take away money from someone to give to someone else, pretty soon you have no one making any money.
Why is that so hard to understand?

I think we have the beginnings of understanding here: Liberal progressivism is a learning disability.

UMMMMM… AP, What the hell was that? You have an entire country pissed off that their freedoms, security, and wealth is being stolen from them in broad daylight, and you come up with some lame explanation about having a midlife crisis? You are better than that… I think!?!
Are there some inner demons you are trying to purge?
Worst of all you HAD to put Palin’s picture up there just to attach people to this ridiculous post.
I have never been one to attack you because I think your “balance” is need here… but GEEEZZZZ!

From a demographics point of view, it doesn’t make any difference what race makes up the Tea Party majority.
From History, many, if not all, Southern Democrats, were affiliated with the KKK. Which is what the LA Times is trying to paint the Tea Party as.
A Rules for Radicals tactic – smear the opposition.
Who was it that said, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that All Men are created equal”
That comparison of Tea Party’ers as being radicals and as terrorist, is nullify as pure BS

Classic troll speak. Say you “love” a candidate but throw them under the bus at the same time.
Axlerod and DNC at work. Could even be those anonymous GOPers who want to stop Sarah. Wonder how much these trolls are paid anyway?

Look at any G-20 or World Bank protest…..does ANYONE take note of the demographics, other than the police officers who have to stand around in riot gear, while the protestors throw rocks, urine, feces, whatever they can at them, and only when they finally have to arrest them for property damage, burning cars, etc….
If we really wanted to answer their claims that the tea partiers are white and old…we could say, well I guess the only people that care about this country are white and old….it is simply NOT true!
I am of mixed race and if you call me old, I WILL beat you to death with your spine.

Hannan? He will be lucky to hold on to his seat. I can even see him getting de-selected by his own party. This is the jerk who touted Iceland’s economic miracle as a model for Briitain and the rest of the world. To quote a good movie “Well look at you now!!”
The Tories will probably win and so they should. Labor have been in charge for 12 years now at least and the toilet needs flushing just as it did here.

That LA Times drivel is so far removed from reality that I’m surprised that even that rag would print it. I doubt one person in fifty is even slightly fooled by this tripe.
What a load of unsubstantiated balderdash. Keep digging, dinosaurs.

Only the black sheeple. It shames me to say so, but black culture is shamelessly tied to the democrats, remaining linked mainly by entitlement programs and abortion.
However, I think the number of black conservatives is growing, and that many people (like myself) grow tired of seeing the results of the democratic agenda around themselves. I reject many facets of mainstream black culture and one of them is the allowing of one’s self to become a voluntary slave to the government.
So in a way, my exception proves the rule, because my race does influance my view on politics.
