Obama group’s new strategy: Let’s get O-bots to spam right-wing radio with talking points

posted at 8:30 pm on February 25, 2010 by Allahpundit

Remember during the campaign how, after the election, Obama was going to turn his online organization into a fearsome juggernaut laying waste to the right?

It’s come to this.

The online tool presents users with a radio show discussing political topics, to which supporters can listen live, and the phone number for that station, for when health care comes up. It also offers tips for callers and talking points on the issue.

My quick sampling produced Christian radio, a local talk station in Buffalo, and the syndicated talk shows of Dr. Laura Schlessinger and Sean Hannity — who will no doubt be thrilled with their new, liberal callers.

Supporters are then encouraged to report back on their encounters.

Imagine the tremendous persuasive effect of listening to Obama cultists leadenly reading off a list of “Discussion Points” to, say, Mark Levin. Radio magic worthy of Paul Harvey, my friends.

The true value of this moronic scheme is that it gives me an excuse to post this bit from Beck’s radio show today. If you missed the health-care summit, don’t worry — this captures 90 percent of the Democrats’ argument. Thanks to the Right Scoop, as always, for clipping it.

SilentWatcher on February 25, 2010 at 9:30 PM

No, you can use both IE & FireFox at the same time, two different windows opened. I believe you can still also import your faves from IE over to Firefox, and they remain intact at IE, should you choose to ever use IE again.
Trust me, you won’t regret it.

OmahaConservative on February 25, 2010 at 9:02 PM

I did this in the last few months, the favorites might be rearranged but, they are still there. ABP is great as far as killing ads. There are two websites I need IE for other than that Firefox 3.6 with auto-update is great. Much better. One thing though, even if you don’t use it you must upgrade IE with security updates when necessary.
From WIndowssecrets…

Be sure to continue updating your system with any IE 8 security patches offered, even if you never use IE to surf the Web. IE is always part of the operating system, and vulnerable IE files are subject to attack.

Jeff2161 on February 25, 2010 at 9:30 PM

LOL! I opened IE last night to see teh gay ads, took damn near for-eveh!
Love me some FireFox.

Please. Ever heard of ‘call screeners’, you clueless libtards?

Every shout-radio schmuck has ‘em, and their job is to filter out everybody who doesn’t adhere to whatever groupthink their host broadcasts. If you don’t agree or aren’t otherwise deemed useful, you aren’t allowed on. I’ve called more than a few hosts, I know the formula. They select a few nuts to get on-air to get shot down in flames, or a few moderates who half-agree to make the host look less like a far-left/right fruitloop.

This endeavor will have as much success as a mass of angry emails…you’ll just get put on the ‘ignore’ list and get nowhere.

Not generally, and even less of a fan of their filtering system. It encourages echo-chamberism except for the rare occasions where they ‘open the floodgates’ and let ANYONE* call in on a first-come, first-served basis.

*They still do some minimal checking to keep the true whackos off the air, especially those who are on the same side as the host but have really extreme views. I suspect some of those are just the phone version of trolls…but not all.

This reminds me of this (via Powerline):

OBAMA: … You know, when I was — when I was young, just got out of college, I had to buy auto insurance. I had a beat-up old car. And I won’t name the name of the insurance company, but there was a company, let’s call it Acme Insurance in — in Illinois. And I was paying my premiums every month. After about six months I got rear-ended, and I called up Acme and said, “You know, I’d like to see if I can get my car repaired.” And they laughed at me over the phone.

Because really, this was set up not to actually provide insurance, what it was set up was to meet the legal requirements. But it really wasn’t serious insurance.

Now, it’s one thing if you got an old beat-up car that you can’t get fixed. It’s another thing if your kid is sick or you’ve got breast cancer.

Obama sounds very immature. I think he represents a lot of people who want someone to take care of them, while they spend their money on fun things.

For me, it’s all about the monologues. Unless I want to hear a steady stream of arguing and I tune into John Gibson for some unsophisticated gladiatorial sport.

And Hannity is much better on TV than radio. His show is a drag and he holds all the most interesting guests until the last hour but keeps promoting them throughout the show so you keep hanging on.

On the other hand, I saw him live once and he was a lot of fun (Levin opened for him, wearing a “Clinton Happens” hat)

I heard on the news earlier, that the person who wrote to Harkin about this, happened to be the brother, of what I think was an aid, to Harkin. Talk about bogus from beginning to end. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the occasional Yoda impression, as well as the Arlen Specter impression, but my GOD some of these other noises Beck and the other guys make, make me want to cringe, then strangle someone. It’s so “morning show’ish”.

Forgive me if you can’t understand me at times, I am wearing dentures that I had to pull from my dead sisters closed, clinched jaws due to the Republicans blocking Obowmacare.”

That was a great bit! I LOL’d many times! We have a local guy that does the little liberal weanie voice sometimes too and it is great. I wish he would do more. And I love it when Rush does the breathless, lisping, young liberal voice.

Mr_Magoo on February 25, 2010 at 10:50 PM

Hi Rush Thanks for taking my call:

Forgive me if I smell on the radio but because of the Party of NO, I’m using my dead sister’s used Depends… it’s a good thing she was a hoarder.

Mr_Magoo on February 25, 2010 at 10:52 PM

We already have them. Any more and Hornet Sting goes on 24 hr. call.

I’m gonna stand at an intersection with a sign reading:

Dick Cheney stole my brain.
Need $$$ for transplant.
Please Help.

Lanceman on February 25, 2010 at 10:20 PM

Not if I get there first! I’m already out of work so all I need is the sign. So where did I put those magic markers?

Mr_Magoo on February 25, 2010 at 10:57 PM

Imagine the tremendous persuasive effect of listening to Obama cultists leadenly reading off a list of “Discussion Points” to, say, Mark Levin.

Oh PLEEEEEEEEEEAAAAASEE please please please!!! Not much in the world makes me happier than listening to Levin verbally castrate leftards.

CantCureStupid on February 25, 2010 at 10:59 PM

Those poor, poor Obamacare supporters. It’s so hard to get your message out when you have to rely on your cheerleaders and shameless carnival barkers at the New York Times, Washington Post, Salon, LA Times, the New Yorker, Boston Globe, Associated Press, CBS, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, CNN, The Daily Show, HuffPo, Kos, the Democratic Party, ACORN, SEIU, AFL-CIO, Big Pharma, Insurance Companies, the AMA, every meddling Euro-Leftist with a keyboard, the byzantine power empire of the of the D.C. Bureaucrats, the Devil, and the President of the United States.

Life’s rough.

Lehosh on February 25, 2010 at 11:02 PM

That man is sooo full of himself.

Oink on February 25, 2010 at 8:44 PM

That’s not the only thing BOR is full of.

txleadfoot00 on February 25, 2010 at 11:07 PM

If they think health care is tanking because Obama, the master of oratory and intelligence, can’t explain himself to the American people, why they hell would they think a bunch of unemployed liberals calling radio shows with scripts will succeed where Obama has failed?

darii on February 25, 2010 at 9:46 PM

Actually, what’s the difference? Oh Yeah, Obowma’s got a job and a script.

Pat Gray used to be teamed up with Edd Hendee in Texas. They had some hilarious bits there, too. My favorite was when illegals would go through a drive through and ask for all kinds of benefits.

Good times. Pat is clearly having a good time with GB…but Ed seems sort of lonely without Pat. I miss his silliness.

redwhiteblue on February 26, 2010 at 12:50 AM

Oooh, I want to hear them call Andrew Wilkow. Heh.

JediArashi on February 26, 2010 at 1:16 AM

These guys really think this will do anything except entertain conservatives? Sheesh, even Hannity (who is way more polite than they deserve) destroys concern trolls. Sean is very diplomatic about it (read “diplomacy: the art of telling someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip”)

Heck even Bill Handel will destroy teleprompter trolls.

Fighton03 on February 26, 2010 at 1:34 AM

Man, I’m going to be listening to Jon and Ken out here in Kali to see if we get a few of these….that’s jsut pure red meat. For those who don’t know, these two are hard core on the Kali fiscal stuff. They host a show at 5pm (rush hour) called “Tax revolt 20XX, Heads on a Stick”, and were really instrumental in getting our last donkeycrat/Ahhhhhhnuld tax initiatives killed.
