The new Hot Air redesign?

posted at 10:05 pm on February 24, 2010 by Allahpundit

InstaGlenn linked it, GayPatriot posted it, and the GOProud folks were laughing about it last night on Twitter. Yes, we’ve had many, many, many, many, many defenses of gay conservatives lately. Thanks to Sarjex for illustrating that through the magic of ‘shop.

Ironically, there hasn’t been anything gay-related on the front page today. Let’s change that now! Exit quotation:

GOProud’s LaSalvia is a strong backer of Cheney, and along with others in his organization is backing a “Draft Cheney 2012″ Web site. He says he agrees with the former vice president on his support for state-by-state same-sex marriage as well as Cheney’s positions on national security and other issues.

“The greatest threat to gay and lesbian people across the globe is the spread of radicalized Islam, and the Obama administration playing footsie with [Iranian President Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad or any other brutal dictator is not good for gay people,” he said.

Islam is murder on gays and women (straight or not), and yet most of them support the Democrat Party. If gay and lesbian people think Christianity is rough on them, then they need to spend a week or two in an Islamic country of their choice…

I doubt there’s anything such as a “gay gene.” Sexuality is an inherent behavior we’re all born with, and like most behaviors, it exists on a continuum, I believe. How gay or straight a person is could fall anywhere along that continuum, and I think it would be foolish to suggest that environmental factors don’t play some role. I think this is especially true for women. Preferences appear to be more hard-wired in men, but it seems like sexuality is a more fluid concept for a lot of women. Certainly there are women who are either all straight or all lesbian, but there are enough women who have exist comfortably in both worlds. I don’t know if this is because women traditionally have different priorities for intimacy than men or if it’s because they are less eager to label themselves or what. But the number of women who have lesbian relationships in college and then go on to marry and live happily ever after, or conversely, women who have been married for years and then divorce their husbands for their best friends seems pretty high for it to be explained away with a “gay gene.” It would seem to me there has to at least be the possibility of some “choice” being involved in some cases, even if it isn’t a conscious one.

I’ll duck now as I am sure to get flamed by people on both sides of this debate. :o)

“What would Socrates say? All those Greeks were homosexuals. Boy, they must have had some wild parties. I bet they all took a house together in Crete for the summer. A: Socrates is a man. B: All men are mortal. C: All men are Socrates. That means all men are homosexuals. Heh… I’m not a homosexual. Once, some cossacks whistled at me. I happen to have the kind of body that excites both persuasions. You know, some men are heterosexual and some men are bisexual and some men don’t think about sex at all, you know… they become lawyers.”

Ha, I love the “Conservative Lesbian: Why I love power tools”. I reminds me of an old friend.

She served in Iraq a couple of times. She melted the phones in a GOTV effort here in Iowa for Bush’s relection too. She even had her picture taken with Bush at one of the rallies.

Anyway, she was the best, BEST, wingman EVER. She helped me land my future wife. We’ve been together 5 years and will be married in a few months. I knew her from work and was trying to seperate her from her friends at a bar, and this woman literally physically blocked off the rest of the group seperating her from the herd. It was masterful!

American Elephant on February 25, 2010 at 1:41 AM

Allah and Ed are making it out that we don’t tolerate gays.

We do tolerate them. We disagree with them and that is in fact tolerating them.

Allah and Ed are against most of California when it comes to gays; doesn’t that tell you something.

In eastern europe gays are still being beaten in the streets. In muslim countries they are hanged.

Gays have it good here, it’s just the institute of marriage is something very strong. And it won’t cave because Allah and Ed think it’s “smart” (PC) to give them an abundance of favor.

Anyhow, being gay is mostly about sex and not relationships. Just read a magazine written by gay writers. How about my gay friend that went to Miami for 5 weeks, because he and them are mostly transient (not responsible and Democrat).

He said he “banged all of Miami”. I guess he had upwards of 40 gay partners.

It is what it is …

These “gay conservatives” could likely be a trojan horse.

These “gay conservatives” have a world view and it’s not conservative.

These “gay conservatives” will easily lie and not vote for the candidate on the Right.

Hey guys,

I feel like I need to poke my head out from my drafting table and out myself a little bit.

Hi, I’m Sarjex and among many things about me, I’m a conservative, I’m female, I grew up in Utah, I now live in San Francisco (which drives me crazy but there’s more work for me here,) I like John Williams (Superman is my favorite soundtrack), Stephen Sondheim (Into the Woods) I love American history, I love drawing, I love cartoons…oh yeah, and I’m gay.

It’s been big fun reading the hilarious comments regarding the “Gay Air” revamp cartoon and was reading them out loud to TLG (The Liberal Girlfriend.) She good naturedly tolerates my wingnuttiness…I tolerate her never hanging up her coat.

I think gays DO have it great in the US. When I hear all the “social justice” queers talking about how hard it is to live in Texas or other places and the US is sooo oppressive I like to snort to them, “Try Iran!” I do not understand why so many gays gravitate so completely to the left when all through history it has been the left who has hung them, stoned them, rounded them up and gassed them except that for a long time the Right on this country made them feel so unwelcome.

The times, they are a changin.’

I knew I was a conservative before I knew I was gay. I come from a family of entrepreneurial rugged individuals and I was *never* one for groupthink. Socialism or anything akin to it always horrified me because I knew it empowered the group over the individual…and the individual could always be ME.

I’ve seen some scorn and some doubt from some regulars at Hot Air about whether or not gays CAN be conservative and if homosexuality is real and/or gays are a bunch of sex crazed sodomites with no business in proper society and that Thomas Jefferson really didn’t mean GAYS when he penned that all men are created equal and life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness were god given rights.

TLG has been dubious at times with my involvement in Hot Air (I’m a regular chatizen during the Ed Morrissey show) once accusing me of basically lying to my friends during the show. She told me they wouldn’t be nearly so accepting if everybody there knew I was gay. Some did, some didn’t, but the day I went off to City Hall to marry her, I made sure everybody knew it…and without exception, everybody wished me well and Ed played “I’m Getting Married in the Mornin’.” I saved the chat and made her read it.

I think there is some serious legitimate debate from both sides ahead over the issues of gay marriage, Don’t Ask Don’t Tell and a host of other social issues…but for me, my issues are…and have always been… individual liberty, a restrained government in line with what the framers intended with the constitution, low taxes and national defense. I think I’m not “the only gay in the village” with those views.

So now that I’ve officially outed myself, I’m going to duck down behind my drafting table and get back to work. There’s an Andrew Breitbart cartoon that’s been floating around in the back of my head.

Sarjex on February 25, 2010 at 2:16 AM

Are Conservative women sexier? Oh hell yeah!

“Try Iran!” I do not understand why so many gays gravitate so completely to the left when all through history it has been the left who has hung them, stoned them, rounded them up and gassed them except that for a long time the Right on this country made them feel so unwelcome.

Not just Iran. I don’t know how Stalin treated gays but other totalitarians were only too happy to have gay scapegoats when they needed someone to focus disappointment with the government on.

Every group in American should fear what could happen here if we really do go socialist. Because socialism always fails. And then they need some one to blame.

petunia on February 25, 2010 at 2:27 AM

Oh no! You mean there might be conservatives Jews who read Hotair too! What is the world coming to?

petunia on February 25, 2010 at 2:30 AM

Plain stupid crap. More like some gay porn site. Why do gays have to push porn to make their point (much of the time)? Heck, you can go to San Francisco for that for real. And if you are gay you don`t get arrested at the “event”. But I bet you if a heterosexual guy pisses on a tree at the same “event” he WILL be arrested for public lewdness.

Police officer: Sir, are you gay?
Straight guy: No.

Police officer: Then you are under arrest.
Straight guy: I got gay friends! Doesn`t that count for something??

Police officer: No. Place your hands behind your back before we taser you!

Straight guy: Come on, bro!!

Taser: Zaapp!

And no, I am not missing the (supposed) intended parody.

And I still don`t like it.

Ah, I can see it now:

Today Salem Communications announced they want to give back Hot Air, with interest, as they say they did not understand its Gay orientations.

Michelle Malkin shook her head and said: “You asked for it, you got it, don’t complain to me and I’m NOT taking it back for any price.”

Salem Communications has announced that it really, really wishes it had understood the ‘Green Room’ references, the ‘Hump Bot’ proclivities and the ‘Dick Cheney fixation’ that was going on at Hot Air. They blame their proof readers for not getting out enough to understand modern culture.

It is rumored that offers have come in from the Instapundit/PJM Empire, FARK and Mooses For Palin Network. The latter of which said that anything that keeps Sarah busy elsewhere is very good for their herd and they are accepting donations to make Hot Air the center of the New Palin Network to keep her very busy. Gov. Palin said she ‘had her sights set on them’.

Buyer’s remorse… there is ALWAYS buyer’s remorse.

You know I really don’t care about sexual Identity.
I do find that the act of 2 men having sex makes me want to hurl. 2 men kissing or playing hide the sausage just is unnatural. Now that being said I have no problem working with drinking with (not in Gay bars) being friends with and hiring Gays. I have gone as far as left a company and brought to gay employees with me along with several other people. I believe that when it comes to work I pick the most qualified not the one most like me. Not that I’m saying I’m not qualified just that…..Oh you get the point.
Let’s face it there are plenty of Gays and Lesbians who are sick of government and politicians. Why not invite them party.

“The greatest threat to gay and lesbian people across the globe is the spread of radicalized Islam, and the Obama administration playing footsie with [Iranian President Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad or any other brutal dictator is not good for gay people,” he said.

I’m not impressed by this.
Iran and Iraq were at war with each other for many years. Russia and Nazi German were at war with each other as well.

Just because one group of fascists hates another group of fascists does not make either group conservative.
The gay activists in America are Fascists. Their agenda is radical. They are not conservatives.

Do some homosexuals like to pay lower taxes? Do some like limited government? Do some homosexuals think global warming is a joke? Great, let them vote Republican, then, and leave it at that.

If these so called gay conservative groups are really gay conservatives, then drop the gay pride crap and just become conservatives.

I want to see these gay conservatives start to rally and denounce the agendas of the gay activists in this nation! I’d like to see them come out and show as much passion and enthusiasm against liberal gay activists as they are showing against their so called conservative brethren. Go out and show us how different you are from those other gays by protesting against those that are promoting special rights for gays, pushing their radical agendas on our school children and parading their sexual habits publicly in our streets.
Then before you know it, you won’t have to demand a seat at some conservative event. You’ll just be sitting there with the rest of us because you will have earned it. Not by attacking the other conservatives that you pretend to be like! Not by demanding some special acceptance or special treatment because you are gay! No! But because you really are a conservative! Because you are out there battling the lib agenda just like the rest of us!
So stop the name calling! Stop mocking Christians and trying to discredit or rewrite the Bible. Stop trying to change what marriage is! Stop trying to make society bow to your sex life! Your wants! Your personal sexual desires! Stop attempting to make the other %98 of America bend it’s knee to your will! Stop shouting down opponents and stop talking about how gay you are! No one is really going to care if you hold hands in public with your partner. No one is really going to care if you live with the person you say you love! No one is going to stop you from visiting your sick or dying partner in the hospital! See, it’s never been about that at all! It’s about the fascism! It’s not about you being gay! It’s not about you loving some guy or girl! It’s about you getting into our faces and demanding we reject our God, reject our Bible, reject our morality and embrace you! I don’t embrace the lifestyles of %99 of the straight people I know! Why in the freaking world do you think your freaking lifestyle is suppose to be so freaking special to me?!
So good! You’re a conservative! Great! Vote conservative! Fight the libs and shut up about your freaking sex life!

So; Instead of Quote of the Day, will it be Boner of the Day?

Cybergeezer on February 25, 2010 at 9:19 AM

Right now I’m staring 9″ in the face! That’s SNOW you sick twisted freaks!!!

Dread Pirate Roberts VI on February 25, 2010 at 9:27 AM

Nothing disgusts me more than gays, or with the help of others others, trying to mainstream themselves.

That’s nice. Thanks for stopping by.

Good Lt on February 25, 2010 at 9:27 AM

I miss the angry white dude with the bullhorn your guys used to have up. I always think of him as the first tea partier.

Lee Harvey Oswald?

Good Lt on February 25, 2010 at 9:29 AM

Run with it! Make sure the teabag is Earl Grey.

SilentWatcher on February 24, 2010 at 10:22 PM

I live on decaf Earl Grey.
Thank you sooo much-NOT!

The greatest threat to gay and lesbian people across the globe is the spread of radicalized Islam their own behavior.

Again, awesome work, girl!

(Now howzabout updating Frakking Toasters? Um, please?)

ZK on February 25, 2010 at 8:56 AM

I second this!

Anna on February 25, 2010 at 9:40 AM

Oh yeah. I love the gaypalmspringsca.com ad on this page. A nice touch.

mizflame98 on February 25, 2010 at 9:45 AM

I have been so blessed with dysfunctionality that the new Hot Air design does not offend. As a matter of fact, I thought it was a great reminder of what the world would be like if the Gay, Lesbian, and liberal PC police ran the world.

I also am reminded of how random selection really works, my older sister is a tattooed, biker, lesbian, my younger sister is a screaming lib, while our youngest brother is as gay as the fagots he collects on his high desert acreage.

However, I am sure Hot Air’s new management is just testing the water, so nothing to worry about.

MSGTAS on February 25, 2010 at 9:48 AM

It’s funny how the whole ‘lifestyle’ and ‘fabulous’ schtick is used to cover up the reality that gay sex is a really disgusting and unnatural act. I mean, really, going up somebody’s dirt chute is ‘fabulous?’ Gimme a break.

fossten on February 25, 2010 at 8:42 AM

Poetic how you graphically describe a tender act of love.. (chortle)…. Like, who ate the first egg??

PaCadle on February 25, 2010 at 9:53 AM

I’ll duck now as I am sure to get flamed by people on both sides of this debate. :o)

NoLeftTurn on February 25, 2010 at 12:44 AM

I would only quibble that I see no evidence for anyone being “hard wired”, and a lot of evidence that it is all just a matter of habit.

When will the War on Terror be won?
When there is a gay parade in Iran.
That will be the USS Missouri in Tokyo harbor moment for me.
…and both will have hundreds of men crammed together in sailor suits.

Dude.

But perhaps as accurate as anything else.

Count to 10 on February 25, 2010 at 10:07 AM

I gotta get in on some of this… well not exactly “this” this. What I mean is the funny… not the funny as in “funny”, but funny as in haha.

I dont have a thing against gayness, umm not that kind of thing. Some of my best friends are … oh wait a minute, back up a sec… ummm.

Maybe it would be best if I just shut up for now and didnt get in on any of this, or “that”.

I can find my “Minuteman”?!?! =O ♥

lansing quaker on February 25, 2010 at 10:13 AM

Go, Sarjex!

I want the government doing a good job of running our defense, our infrastructure, our judicial system and the like – and then lower your voice.

Whether you are single or married or attracted to people of the opposite or same sex – I don’t care. I only care whether you’re a decent person and a good citizen and abide by the laws of the land.

If you don’t like gay sex – then don’t indulge. If your neighbor likes it – that’s his business.

pbundy on February 25, 2010 at 10:26 AM

I wouldn’t call it defending gay conservatives as much as it is calling social conservatives morons who are so hung up on the gay issue.

That one has yet to be found doesn’t mean that one doesn’t exist. This is a classic nature vs. nurture argument, with neither side having presented the necessary evidence to clinch the argument.

If found, my guess is that it would turn out to be some sort of “copulate with everything in sight except the people with which you should be copulating” gene, or even possibly some form of inherited “lexdisia” in which things in the back appear to be things in the front.

pbundy on February 25, 2010 at 10:26 AM

Ah, but if you don’t want to hire one, or if you don’t want to rent to one — who’s business is it?

unclesmrgol on February 25, 2010 at 10:50 AM

The irony of Sarjex’s situation is just as with many couples all over the country. Sleeping With The Enemy.

From whom do you get this “evidence”? There is no evidence that there is a gene at this time, but it does appear that it is something formed very, very early in life.

SC.Charlie on February 25, 2010 at 10:53 AM

I missed the whole “gay thing” here the last couple days.

I will say that the gay lobby has a voice way louder than the size of their constituency merits.

riverrat10k on February 25, 2010 at 10:57 AM

The photoshop is really funny! But…is Megan McCardle gay?

Well said, Sarjex and Logic. At the university where I work it would be harder to come out of the conservative closet than the gay closet!
