InstaGlenn linked it, GayPatriot posted it, and the GOProud folks were laughing about it last night on Twitter. Yes, we’ve had many, many, many, many, many defenses of gay conservatives lately. Thanks to Sarjex for illustrating that through the magic of ‘shop.
Ironically, there hasn’t been anything gay-related on the front page today. Let’s change that now! Exit quotation:
GOProud’s LaSalvia is a strong backer of Cheney, and along with others in his organization is backing a “Draft Cheney 2012″ Web site. He says he agrees with the former vice president on his support for state-by-state same-sex marriage as well as Cheney’s positions on national security and other issues.
“The greatest threat to gay and lesbian people across the globe is the spread of radicalized Islam, and the Obama administration playing footsie with [Iranian President Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad or any other brutal dictator is not good for gay people,” he said.

OT in a way, and not as light hearted as it should be: I have many gay and lesbian clients, have an adored first cousin who is in a committed and long-term relationship, and recently, had an interesting discussion (that ended up being–civilly–political) with a lifelong friend who is a lesbian. Needless to say, she is Uber-liberal while I am off-the-charts conservative.
I really got to thinking why more gays and lesbians aren’t more conservative. The meme that conservatives are anti-gay because they (for the most part)don’t support gay marraige is a crock.
Since conservatives are much more supportive of individual freedom and choice, seems to me a natural magnet.
It all comes back to that pesky reality that the media portray us Bible-thumpin’, gun-totin’ neandrathals who have no patience (therefore)compassion for any other viewpoint, and want the gay community to “switch or die!” Puleeze! Can some of you gay conservatives help us fight this perception??? Y’all are pretty darned quiet, except among your fellow conservatives.

Keep pushing the gay thing, doofpundit and others. There’s far more social conservative voters than homosexuals, and certainly than homosexual conservatives. If you think you’re going to insult those social conservatives into “getting in line” and supporting the party and forgetting about the moral issues, you’re in for a surprise.
I have no doubt as this continues, the social conservatives will just stop voting or vote for a 3P candidate. Yes, you may insult them or hate them for doing this, but you don’t understand that morals/values are what they vote on, and calling them names like jetboy and others do is not going to change their minds.
