Olby to tea partiers: End the near-total “segregation”
posted at 10:48 am on February 24, 2010 by Allahpundit
From last night’s “Countdown,” an RSVP to the Dallas Tea Party’s cordial invite. Unless I missed a memo, minorities are welcome to attend tea party rallies, mix freely as part of the crowd, and even take to the podium to speak, so either Olby doesn’t understand what “segregation” means or I don’t. Probably the latter — I am not, sad to say, a Cornell man — although I suppose he might have chosen the wrong word deliberately simply because it’s so much more politically loaded. Me and my damnable cynicism.
Anyway, this is a total letdown: Not only did the DTP not end up as worst persons in the world, this didn’t even merit special comment status. Bummer. Exit question for Mediaite: Do you really not understand why he took a shot at you here? A day after you posted this?

Fact is people of all races or creed are invited. You cannot force people to join a group. Olby is just a doucehbag, there is no way around that.

The old arguement, “you do have diversity, but it’s not enough diversity”.
Who didn’t see that one coming? MSNBC has plenty of people of color on their payroll… none of them of worthy of their own show is all.

Speaking of Tea Parties, be sure to read this hilarious, desperate attempt from last night by the NY Times to label the IRS suicide pilot as a Teat Party Terrorist. What’s so hypocritical about this whole piece is that the “Editors” of the NY Times have refused to use the “T” word in their news stories and headlines for almost 20 years now. I guess the word is now OK?

No, sorry. That’s a fun way to tweak him but it’s not remotely true. On a good day we pull 150,000 unique visitors in a 24-hour period. Olbermann does 700,000+ viewers in one hour. Aside from Drudge, HuffPo, and perhaps one or two others, no website remotely compares to TV programs in terms of audience.

I’ll say it again. At the Tax Day Tea Party I attended last year, I stood beside a black woman who was there with her kids while we listened to a Cuban refugee speaking at the podium. And this was in downtown Houston. You know, the racist South.
As for Rocky Madcow being more influential than Ubermench, well I don’t think anyone gives a rat’s you-know-what about what either of them has to say. The ratings reflect that. That being said, I will give her credit for at least having guests on who have opposing views. And she is more respectful of the right than Uberskank has ever been.
Doughboy on February 24, 2010 at 11:01 AM
As the Democrats have always said, critics of Obama are racist, even when they have to get Olbermann to totally invent the racism.

And yet if a black conservative dares come out the “coloreds only” closet, we’re brainwashed or having our poor negro minds manipulated by those big, bad republicans.
Either we’re too stupid to form our own opinions on politics and the black conservatives don’t matter, or the color of our skin is incompatable with belief in the constitution and we simply don’t exist. Can’t have it both ways, Olby. You racist POS.

I love it when these liberal nutballs get slammed like this. I just wish it happened more often. Thank God for sites like this who have no problem calling these loons out when they’re wrong. Otherwise we’d have nothing in the news but discussions about how hot Madame Obama is and how many news readers get tingly legs when covering the Mighty Leader.

donh525 on February 24, 2010 at 11:14 AM
Anyone who wants limited government, fiscal responsibility, and representatives who respect our Constitution is welcome to join the Tea Party.
The Democrats are doing their best to try and keep minorities away by painting the movement as racist. They also attack patriotic minorities as sell-outs or traitors, as though there’s something wrong with loving liberty.
As the Tea Party movement grows, it should include outreach to minorities to help counter the leftist propaganda.

Discriminating against complete morons = racist in Olbermann’s mind.
Nice to know Keith thinks minorities are complete morons.
uknowmorethanme on February 24, 2010 at 11:22 AM
My question is why even comment on anything that this moronic assclown Olbermann has to say about anything? He is totally irrelevant, his show’s ratings are in the toilet, and there is not one single solitary constructive thing to say about anything. Why he is even still allowed to waste valuable airtime that could be used for better purposes is a mystery in itself.
pilamaye on February 24, 2010 at 11:23 AM
Reminds me of an old Golden Girls show with Keith, Rachael, Ed and Chris Matthews sitting around the kitchen table having a secret vote on who’s giving up their show for the black guy. “Chris” “Chris” “Chris” and “Chris” goes the vote with Chris saying he voted himself because he thought everyone else would vote the new girl.
Marcus on February 24, 2010 at 11:24 AM
KO went to Cornell, not AP. But KO went to the ag Cornell, which had an acceptance ration of about 1:1 when he went there. He got in in back and forth with Coulter over it a while back, and in true douchey fashion actually brought his diploma on the set and waived it around to show everyone how smart he is, and that Cornell doesn’t distinguish between the real cornell and the ag school (even though they do).
BadgerHawk on February 24, 2010 at 11:24 AM
Uberdumbkoff actually seems to take himself seriously.

notagool on February 24, 2010 at 11:24 AM
No, that’s the whole point. We don’t want a principled, pragmatic spokesperson for progressivism. Let’s keep the spotlight on the belligerent racebaiters and ignoramuses like Uberskank, Shyster, Fat Bastard(aka Chris Matthews), and Schultz.
Can you imagine if instead of that lineup, MSDNC went with more appealing and down-to-earth libs like the ones FoxNews has such as Kirsten Powers, Leslie Marshall, or Doug Schoen? We’d actually have a substantive debate on our hands. And it doesn’t help our cause that Powers and Marshall are both easy on the eyes.
Doughboy on February 24, 2010 at 11:26 AM
Olby shows us how the left truly vires us; as racist redneck hicks who are backwards on everything.
In reality all the left-tards are getting their view of the world from Huffington Post and the Daily Show/Colbert Report and have no clue what is really going on. Lots of people genuinely think socialism isn’t that bad and are fine with Obama installing it here by fiat.
Neo on February 24, 2010 at 11:26 AM
Can Keith Olbermann travel to Dallas without getting permission from his parole officer first?
azkag on February 24, 2010 at 11:27 AM
Olbermann is not a Cornell man. He did not attend the real Cornell University (as Ann Coulter did), but the agricultural school at Cornell. Back in the day, it was a common strategy of high school nerds in New York state to be admitted to Cornell’s aggie division, with the intent of transferring to Cornell’s Arts and Sciences division (the real ivy-league Cornell) later on.
As Meghan McCain would say, “Moo!”
Emperor Norton on February 24, 2010 at 11:28 AM
If Olbermann was half as smart as he thinks he is he would still be a dimwit.
As to the Tea Party movement. As a member I say
Come one come all, All races welcome. The only requirement is that you must be willing to work, and conservative. You also need to be willing to fight to save your country from socialism.

I’ve never envied minorities on the Right. It’s bad enough being told I’m not a “real woman” for voting the way I do, I don’t even want to imagine what you have to put up with.
As to the clip, Keith’s clearly comparing apples and oranges. MSNBC does not put any minorities up front as the face of their “news” organization, but the Dallas Tea Party (one of many in Texas – one of many in north Texas) actually does. They provided just a handful of pictures to show that there are indeed minorities there, not to show every minority there, and yet after
counting themletting KOS count them, KO declares himself a winner.Esthier on February 24, 2010 at 11:30 AM
Well, this is apparently the agreed on strategy for attacking the Teay Party. Same as the old strategy for attacking pretty much anyone who isn’t a progressive.
It didn’t work before with Pelosi, Reid, Hoyer and the assorted grab bag of leftist nuts demonizing regular folks so it won’t work now.
The best recourse for this kind of stuff is to 1) throw their own charges right back at them and 2) ignore it.
They can’t argue against the TP principles because people overwhelmingly favor them.

On top of which, she’s a two-fer: A black woman. MSNBC can cover two bases at the same time, though when done elsewhere it’s often considered a cynical move by a business to avoid quota-based lawsuits.
Liam on February 24, 2010 at 11:43 AM
I had to laugh. Olby is so paranoid that he has started counting “people of color”. Apparenly he included member from all the NBC News networks and then threw in even the guests that come on those show. Too funny.
AnthonyK on February 24, 2010 at 11:43 AM
Olberman from corn-ell, not Cornell…
He gets his wise information from other analysts on MSNBC and echo chamber sources, who look at perhaps 10 seconds of any video to get what they want…. with the video shot by MSM ‘reporters’ going on the fringes of the crowd, unwilling to go into the crowd, who then edit out what they don’t like…
So Olberman gets his idea from biased analysts who used biased video edited to show a stereotype by biased reporters.
He doesn’t need to examine actual events himself or look at raw data.
Just like AGW.
Third-hand is close enough for that mentality: never get your hands dirty doing actual work, reporting or analysis. The ‘experts’ will tell you what to think and do when the groupthink doesn’t.
ajacksonian on February 24, 2010 at 11:44 AM
Actually, that’s Cownell in Olby’s case.
WarEagle01 on February 24, 2010 at 11:46 AM
I know it’ll be tough to get on with your day after this revelation. I hope you’re sitting down.
After being told that the Dallas Tea Party had more minorities as leaders in their organization than the entire MSNBC lineup, he responded by talking about people who weren’t in the lineup – about people who were guests or who might sub in sometimes (without actually naming names or showing pictures, of course).
As opposed to comparing faces of the Tea Party movement to faces of MSNBC.
Esthier on February 24, 2010 at 11:47 AM
I would like to propose a total Hot Air Olby thread ban. He is irrelevant. No one watches his show, no one really cares about the clap trap that comes from his mouth, except to make fun of it, and no one really cares about what he thinks. Therefore, it is a waste of bandwidth.
How about every time the editors are tempted to post another Olby thread, they instead, post some story about a nice looking young lady, or to be fair, a nice looking young man, along with a photo, preferably in a bikini, or, again to be fair, a Speedo.
I know that is also a waste of bandwidth, but at least it’s a good waste of bandwidth.
kam582 on February 24, 2010 at 11:49 AM
I was expecting this type of comeback to the accusation that MSN has no minorities.
It was low-hanging fruit.
AnninCA on February 24, 2010 at 11:50 AM
So it was basically the video version of the written version I read (that I think he posted on dkos), that basically said: “We have lots of black people as benchwarmers and props. We can’t be racist!”
BadgerHawk on February 24, 2010 at 11:52 AM
Exactly. He even included everyone who works for local NBC affiliates as some sort of anchor or journalist.
He was holding back though. I mean why not include everyone who works for GE?
Esthier on February 24, 2010 at 11:55 AM
It’s so funny when he opens up a big old can of worms and it ends up blowing up in his face. Only this time his baseless blithering has put MSNBC in an embarrassing and awkward position of having to defend their own business when it comes to diversity. If I were an MSNBC exec I’d be saying enough with this guy already. It’s not like he’s pulling in viewers by the droves.
