Poll: What was the Obamateurism of the week?

posted at 9:00 am on February 21, 2010 by Ed Morrissey

Hold the phones — it’s time to pick Barack Obama’s most amateurish stumble of the week.  Of course, the logistics of such a choice have to be considered, but these days we consider them after the choice.  One might think that as much as Obama talks about himself, having 132 nominees would be understandable, but in Obama math … that comes to four.

Previous 2010 “winners”:

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

Or, would Sarah Palin have garnered only 7% if she had delivered her Nashville speech at CPAC? And would it have rated live coverage on all of the cable networks?

As much as I like and respect Beck, the world didn’t come to a screeching halt when he gave his keynote.

The 132 references to himself in one speech and his continued lying about the number of jobs created or saved are equally deserving of being the winner. Narcissism reigns in the White House from our Chief Whiner.

These choices are difficult because they simply reflect ObaMao’s fundamental dishonesty and narcissism. What the Lefty pundits call O’s pragmatism is simply his tendency to pull statistics out of his butt and assert contradictions when polls tell him that his snow jobs aren’t working.

ObaMao is a liar who has never had to be accountable for his assertions or his actions.

nyx on February 21, 2010 at 9:51 AM

From the U.S. Census quick facts: 2009-2010 figures are higher for these categories.
Black persons, percent, 2008 (a) 12.8%
American Indian and Alaska Native persons, percent, 2008 (a) 1.0%
Asian persons, percent, 2008 (a) 4.5%
Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander, percent, 2008 (a) 0.2%
Persons reporting two or more races, percent, 2008 1.7%
Persons of Hispanic or Latino origin, percent, 2008 (b) 15.4%
This leaves approximately 9.5% white ridden with guilt, anger, or descendants of slave traders/owners.
Obviously, individuals like Gibbs, Axelrod, Emanuel, Pelosi, Reid, etc.
Factor of error, 4%.

Tom_OC on February 21, 2010 at 11:01 AM

You have to love Obama’s mystical spiritualization of jobs numbers. “I’m reminded of another famous Black leader – Calypso Louie Farrakhan who also felt compelled to play around with numbers:

“Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth president. Thomas Jefferson, the third president, and 16 and three make 19 again. What is so deep about this number 19? Why are we standing on the Capitol steps today? That number 19 — when you have a nine you have a womb that is pregnant. And when you have a one standing by the nine, it means that there’s something secret that has to be unfolded.”

Now we know the secret -it’s secret jobs!

Don L on February 21, 2010 at 11:03 AM

What is the latest reality check on the jobs website? Once the bogus “saved” jobs are removed, and the jobs created in non-existent congressional districts are gone, what the real count? Maybe half of the quoted 590K? A third?

backwoods conservative on February 21, 2010 at 11:07 AM

It now may be necessary to divide Obamateurisms into two categories. Obama’s international blunders of the week and Obama’s domestic blunders of the week.

Internationally the Dalai Lama incident showed how dense Zero is. The cufflinks, the garbage trail tour. Michelle-O probably gave Dalai an “I (heart) China” t-shirt and Rogaine gift certificates.

Domestically is a tougher choice. Zero’s KSM blunder invites terrorists to wage their battles in NYC again. Visualize the post-Rodney King riots but with IEDs. Of course, th job figures reveal Zero’s indifference, in Clintonian proportions, not only to truth but to those his policies have and will harm. Like Zero’s buddy Billy Ayers, Nutpolitano and several others in his cabinet, that reveals his tendency towards being a Clintonian sociopath. Both Zero and Slick were all about screwing American. Just by different means.

The cufflinks is probably an urban legend started by various other blogs to capitalize on the oddity of Zero actually having given the Queen an iPod and PM Brown the wrong-region DVD collection to a man with failing vision.

So, though it wouldn’t surprise if Zero had given cufflinks to a man who wears sleeveless robes it is mostly internet rumor.

What I’m waiting for is for Zero and Michelle-O to give the Prime Minister of India a fine assortment of prime, juicy, well-aged steaks or to take the President of Iraq out for some fine pulled-pork barbecue. If he’s in Armenia Obama could order the Greek Salad or if he’s at a Vienna restaurant he can ask for a menu that isn’t in Austrian.

viking01 on February 21, 2010 at 1:26 PM

Obama has lied so much that he has become the butt of jokes and is held up to ridicule every time he opens his mouth. Even if he tells the truth his credibility is shot with the American people. I now count the lies and half truths he says with a straight face. It’s like watching Eddie Murpy playing a street hustler in a movie! Such a fool is dangerous as leader of the free world. Our enemies must have the same contempt as the American public. Let the avalanche come to reign him in! Taking back Congress and the purse strings can offset his lying agenda.

I watched the History Channel last night, that featuredthe JFK assassination and the transfer of power to Lyndon Johnson in the aftermath.

LBJ was a scheming, lying SOB, that Bobby Kennedy HATED. Looking back on LBJ, his claim to fame was the so-called “Great Society” where he dramatically moved us closer to being a socialist society with Medicare, etc.

I once read that he kept the war in Vietnam going to detract attention away from his “Great Society” legislation. If true, I only hope the man is burning in hell for what he did. Literally wasting young American lives to promote his socialist agenda.

Absolutely despicable!!

Sometimes I think the comparisons of zerObama to Jimmy Carter are off the mark. Carter was horrible, but he wasn’t the one who saddled us with Medicare. Chairman Bao is hell bent to ram socialized healthcare down our throats, which is the anchor that will literally sink this country into perpetual mediocrity or worse.

FDR, LBJ, and now BHO, the three amigos.

Maobama gave the Dalai Lama a pair of presidential seal cufflinks no less (natch)! I thought for sure that Nobama would give DL an iPod containing wondrous campaign speeches. The White House gift buyers are slipping.

Had to go KSM trial.WE already know he is a lying narcissist who can’t add,so I opted for his lack of logic.

Meh, this round of Obamateurisms looks more like greasy politics than stupidity. It’s hard to top scheduling a hugely controversial “Speech to the Students” on a day when most of those students aren’t even in class.

On the other hand, his excuse for moving the KSM trial boils down to the classic politician excuse of “Well I’m an idiot, so you can’t blame me for screwing things up.” Not the most inspiring statement, but its just so… common…

I guess I’ve just grown to expect better gaffs out of him than this, you know?

I picked the jobs saved or created because jobs created or saved has reached its expiration date and pretty soon we will hear Obama talking about millions of jobs funded:

“*Part 2 of this Memorandum updates Section 5:
“*….In addition, recipients will no longer be required to make a subjective judgment on whether jobs were created or retained as a result of the Recovery Act. Instead, recipients will more easily and objectively report on jobs funded with Recovery Act dollars.

You can’t argue or dispute jobs funded :(
.

From the recovery.gov website:

The job numbers reported by recipients are for October 1, 2009 to December 31, 2009 only.

As I said when it was the Obamateurism of the day, the 595,263 number is what they’re claiming for that quarter only. The OOTW can’t be that the “2 million jobs saved or created(over a year)” claim doesn’t match the claim on the website for “595,263 jobs saved or created(over three months).”
