Video: Coulter’s stand-up routine at CPAC
posted at 2:50 pm on February 20, 2010 by Allahpundit
A few hits and a few misses from a relatively restrained seven minutes, with my favorite line inexplicably omitted from the clip: “I’m thinking of writing a book on national health care. It will be 2,000 pages, and you’ll have two hours to read it.” There’s bound to be some outrageous outrage over her shot at Anderson Cooper although (a) it’s nothing you wouldn’t hear at, say, Gawker, and (b) it’s framed as payback for his infamous “teabagging” goof on tea partiers on CNN (for which he later kinda sorta apologized).
Oh, and the Olbermann line? Quid pro quo. Nothing more, nothing less.

Blowback

I love the fact that Olbermann will be curled up in a corner somewhere sucking his thumb now.
carbon_footprint on February 20, 2010 at 2:51 PM
Wow. I was expecting some blistering editorial comment to go along with this video!
Spirit of 1776 on February 20, 2010 at 2:53 PM
All those appearances on “Red Eye” over the past 2 1/2 years are paying off for Ann in her comedy timing. Too bad she also couldn’t have included a Robot Theater clip.

Ann Coulter>*
daesleeper on February 20, 2010 at 2:58 PM
What, no booing?
Cindy Munford on February 20, 2010 at 2:58 PM
I love Ann Coulter.
Daggett on February 20, 2010 at 2:59 PM
That was very funny. She managed to hit just about every prominent liberal in those few minutes.
carbon_footprint on February 20, 2010 at 3:00 PM
ROFLMAO. Ann Coulter is simply the best.
neurosculptor on February 20, 2010 at 3:01 PM
Hahahah!
Loved the John Kerry and “respectful running mate” kicker..
also loved the “for the first time in my life I’m sometimes not proud of my country”
and, oh, BTW—KO as a girl is a denigration to girls. KO is a flagellated organism

I saw her first! -_*

My favorite line: “Obama had not created any jobs, in fact, Sarah Palin has created more since eleven AP fact-checkers were hired to comb over her book.”
carbon_footprint on February 20, 2010 at 3:04 PM
She is great.
Spirit of 1776 on February 20, 2010 at 3:04 PM
Who’s Keith Olberman and what’s an MSNBC?
I love Coulter! She tells it like it is and has fun doing it!
Vntnrse on February 20, 2010 at 3:04 PM
Well, she’s no Achmed the Dead Terrorist, but enjoyable anyway. I actually think she’s funnier “off the cuff” like when she calls into Hannity’s radio program, etc.
Mr_Magoo on February 20, 2010 at 3:04 PM
Haven’t watched it yet, but that is a great line.
Sir Corky on February 20, 2010 at 3:09 PM
Anyone have a link to the complete speech?
notropis on February 20, 2010 at 3:10 PM
Enjoy. It’s just one of many great lines. No wonder the libs hate her so much. She is super-effective.
carbon_footprint on February 20, 2010 at 3:11 PM
Thank you Ann Coulter. You rock!

Good for Ann,she doesn’t need an hour to get her point across.

That was, in a word, delightful!

Michelle Malkin is awesome. But she is also a very, very busy lady. I suspect there’s a bit more adult supervision now.

Guardia lambia comes to mind with that statement.

Loud cheers on the gay joke. Balance is restored to CPAC
PrezHussein on February 20, 2010 at 3:19 PM
C-Span will have it, I’m sure, in a while.
Spirit of 1776 on February 20, 2010 at 3:20 PM
Oh come on. That joke would get cheers in any comedy club in the heart of liberal NYC.
Sir Corky on February 20, 2010 at 3:23 PM
Well done Ann.
Rode Werk on February 20, 2010 at 3:23 PM
That’s not his thumb. (Who knew the SOB was so limber?)
Kensington on February 20, 2010 at 3:25 PM
If you go to CPAC’s website you can pull up videos of any and all the speakers.
Cindy Munford on February 20, 2010 at 3:27 PM
I sort of assume that since she’s friends (or at least “friends”) with Bill Maher, she’s probably also friends with Olbermann, and didn’t take offense at his last comment about her. (His next-to-last offended me much more.)
I don’t know if it’s the leadership change in this country or what, but I’m getting to really like her. I’ve thought she was a great writer for years, but her public persona annoyed me. Admittedly, it’s easier to be funny when your party’s not being eviscerated every day, but her humor has really caught up with her natural intelligence — in an almost Dennis Miller-ish kind of way — and it suits her.
Tanya on February 20, 2010 at 3:27 PM
I guess you had to have been there…
Seven Percent Solution on February 20, 2010 at 3:27 PM
Olby is hilarious. He thinks the obvious response to an “insult” against transgendered people is to call the speaker transgendered! It would be like a black guy calling a Klansman a lazy black guy.
Speedwagon82 on February 20, 2010 at 3:28 PM
I’ll bet the New York Times will detect a clear Butterfly McQueen impression in Anne’s delivery.
Cicero43 on February 20, 2010 at 3:30 PM
Meh…pretty weak
ClassicCon on February 20, 2010 at 3:32 PM
Did you hear the British panel speaker take a shot at the NYT reporter?
Cindy Munford on February 20, 2010 at 3:33 PM
None of that was actually funny. Do conservatives only like her so much because leftists hate her so much?
hicsuget on February 20, 2010 at 3:42 PM
I loves me some Ann Coulter….
Sigh….. ;)
AW1 Tim on February 20, 2010 at 3:52 PM
Glenn Beck headline speaker at 6:00 p.m. It’s gonna be good!
Colorado Anne on February 20, 2010 at 3:53 PM
Agreed with regard to girls, but Ted is unfair to flagellated organisms. Olby is no better than bacteria, which reproduce by fission.
On reflection, perhaps I am unfair to bacteria.

I have had the privilege of Ann turning down my marriage proposal.

Thanks! I should have guessed.

Awww, humorless grumpypants couldn’t find humor in that. Maybe Family Guy is more your speed.
daesleeper on February 20, 2010 at 4:10 PM
You would have preferred she mock Down Syndrome children?
Ronnie on February 20, 2010 at 4:12 PM
1. Funny is subjective
2. Read her books, or even some of her columns; if you do this objectively/openmindedly, you’ll get a sense why she is a best selling author, columnist, and highly paid speaker.
massrighty on February 20, 2010 at 4:17 PM
This is even cooler than “I sold Jesse Jackson a car stereo system.”
massrighty on February 20, 2010 at 4:18 PM
“stand up routine”
Allahpundit, you can’t hold a candle to Ann – in law or journalism/information.
Where are your published books?
Where is your research?
O wait, I recall your research.
Megan McCain’s big boobs that she flashed on Twitter. What size are they and have you held them in your hands?
What?
He foisted Megan on us; so …
I know what size they are – size extra large – probably 38DD.
father on February 20, 2010 at 4:18 PM
I believe she’s said before that she and Bill are friends, but as much as she’s mocked Keith (specifically about his ag. degree – which really seems to hit him below the belt), I imagine there’s little love between the two of them.
I’m mostly agree. I started reading her before I got more politically involved just because I was surprised to see a Republican fight back the way she did. But then I got sick of having to defend her for comments I understood to be over the line but felt were also taken out of context.
I’ve just stopped doing that altogether (she’s a big girl anyway, and intends the kind of controversy she creates) and now follow her less closely but enjoy her a bit more when I do see her.
Esthier on February 20, 2010 at 4:19 PM
I love Ann Coulter. She’s the reason I’m no longer a liberal having a perpetual bad hair day.
CarolynM on February 20, 2010 at 4:21 PM
A friend attending CPAC reports Ann saying….
“I would be in favor of universal healthcare if Democrats all had their heads examined”
norm1111 on February 20, 2010 at 4:24 PM
She seems the same as she’s ever been (brilliant).
Compare an article from her archives and last weeks article and see if you think her humor has changed.
Spirit of 1776 on February 20, 2010 at 4:24 PM
OK, the Carter lines were good, but she is too self conscientiously witty, too many hand gestures and hair flips, I wish Ann weren’t so flippant and spoke seriously
Willie on February 20, 2010 at 4:25 PM
Speaking of hair, I want Ann’s.
entropent on February 20, 2010 at 4:29 PM
She didn’t take a shot at anyone’s kids.
True Cooper, Olbermann and Madsow not likely to actually have kids but…………..
All in all rather tame.
DSchoen on February 20, 2010 at 4:32 PM
I was not sure where to post this, but I wondered if Allah or maybe Ed knew anything about the John Birch Society being a cosponsor for CPAC? I saw this post by Scot Johnson at Powerline and he was very concerned about this, considering the trouble these people have caused conservatives in the past. And they had been banished for some time I guess. I just wondered if anyone had heard anything about this?
Terrye on February 20, 2010 at 4:33 PM
Nothing we didn’t already know. I mean come one, who doesn’t realize KO is a little b!tch?
PJ Emeritus on February 20, 2010 at 4:33 PM
Hmmm the target of her barbs does not find it funny.
I am surprised. /

I haven’t turned on a tv in days…is GB’s speech going to be televised? I remember Fox carried Rush’s keynote address last year.
Chewy the Lab on February 20, 2010 at 4:36 PM
She’s brilliant. Her book “Treason” should be required reading for every school child in America.
JellyToast on February 20, 2010 at 4:39 PM
I love Ann Coulter but really, is this the best they could come up for a stand up comedian act? No Dennis Miller or Collin Quinn or Evan Sayet? Her stuff’s decent but just bring in a proper comedian to lighten the mood
Defector01 on February 20, 2010 at 4:43 PM
Yes, I believe Fox is carrying it.
Colorado Anne on February 20, 2010 at 4:43 PM

“Teabagger” is the gayest term you’ll hear at CNN besides “Anderson Cooper”.
Oh, please. Let’s hope their is outrage. I’ll show you where to find 100 times worse, on HuffPoop.

She had notes. Too bad she did not write that on her hand.
dentalque on February 20, 2010 at 4:52 PM
Yeah, so did I, unfortunately. I say unfortunately because it is an unfortunately true line, funny only in comparison to MO’s statement.

Of course. No one besides Palin does that. /

Okay, I learned the following from viewing Ann Coulter’s clip:
1) She is a rrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaccccccccccciiiist because she opposes Barack Hussein Obama.
2) She insulted girls everywhere by claiming that Keith Olberman is a girl.
Keith Olberman is not a girl, or a boy. Keith Olberman is a demonic chimera which includes rabid dog, wasp, Alien (From the movie “Alien,” and people’s worst nightmares all blended together.
He is a netheworld dweller, a pervert, and the embodiement of hatred and anomisity, misogyny, and disrespect. Keith Olberman is a combination of the sicko cannibal, chain saw weilding vermin from “Texas Chain Saw Massacre,” the Alien from “Aliens,” the demonically possessed girl in “The Exorcist,” Freddie from “Nightmare on Elm Street” Jason from “Friday the 13th,” Dracula, a pack of rabid dogs with foam dripping from their mouths, a few thousand maggots dining on the decaying carcass of a dead viper, and maggots dining on the excrement of all manner of putrid creatures with the most foul stench, and a school of pirhanna.
Olberman is all that and worse. One’s worst nightmare times infinity.
He is all that, and he is one of the biggest jokes ever foisted upon the populace via the television. His associates, Maddow, Matthews, and others, are cut from virtually the same mold.
No, Olberman is not a girl.
Unlike Olberman, girls/women can be beautiful, have pretty faces, smell nice, have pleasant, sweet sounding voices, be soft to the touch, curvy, attractive, be wonderful companions, wives, friends, lovers, and mothers.
Girls/woman can actually be wanted by someone, and loved by someone.
Keith Olberman is none of those and can never be.
William2006 on February 20, 2010 at 6:24 PM
By the way, I did enjoy watching Ann Coulter’s video clip and I enjoyed her clever quips.
Good routine.
Do you think she’d mind if I borrowed some of her “material?”
William2006 on February 20, 2010 at 6:27 PM
I just adore Ann Coulter. ‘Nough said.
Grace_is_sufficient on February 20, 2010 at 6:34 PM
Ann lost a lot of respect with me after she started appearing regularly on Geraldo, who I cannot stand. It is surprising to me she would associate herself with that dirtbag.

No but it helps.

Anne Coulter will not sound funny if you feel like she’s insulting friends. Do you?
ranzofola on February 20, 2010 at 7:45 PM
You don’t think that Ann loves encouraging Geraldo to make an ass out of himself? And she get’s paid to do it. Bonus.
Cindy Munford on February 20, 2010 at 7:46 PM
C=Span is going to repeat Ann at 10:30 EST
Cindy Munford on February 20, 2010 at 7:47 PM
I don’t know why Ann Coulter doesn’t just profess her love for Stand up and comedy the same way Glenn Beck does. Beck having toured as a comedian/entertainer.
Though with that said she did tour with Bill Maher so its sorta implied. Throw her as another candidate for SNL guest host. I like how she ended her speech with “Thank You, you’ve been a great crowd”. A stand up comedy staple.
Either way I’d buy a ticket to see her a do a full show

Good. Very good. But it looks like those
democratssocialists are going to force that Obamacare down our throats.I despise them.
I despise Obama.
We know Obamacare is wrong.
It is the utter truth of the thing: it is wrong.
I find it the essence of evil. Not the movies. Here is the real horror show.
Something wicked this way comes.
Palm.
Sigh.
Frustration.
And all our writing and all our opposition looks to prove of little use in stopping Obamacare.
And once enacted, can it be retracted?
If Lincoln were president he would have the
democratsrounded up before any vote and . . . uh temporarily detained until the danger passed.Yeah, Lincoln would do that.
Thomas Jefferson would be expecting the Tree of Liberty to be watered once again. He would not like it, but he would advocate it.
Damn their hides for the blackguards they are!

Pretty weak comeback to Olberman’s crack, which by the way (and in spite of the fact that I hate that douchebag) was pretty clever.
