posted at 2:20 pm on February 19, 2010 by Allahpundit

Via our new colleague Greg Hengler, unquestionably the sweetest palate cleanser ever posted at Hot Air. Congrats to my pal Ed on the well deserved honor, and especially on his classy salute here to our beloved ex-boss. I agree with every word.

Disturb the Universe on February 19, 2010 at 6:37 PM

Good Going Ed. Richly deserved award.

Now, please answer me one question: who is this Ted Rall that Rush mentioned, and has his bitterness finally consumed him to the point that he wanders aimlessly through parks muttering to himself while gesturing randomly?

Mallard T. Drake on February 19, 2010 at 6:40 PM

I must admit, I misted up a little there. No one deserves that more than you Ed, and I never doubt Rush! God bless you.

Dino64 on February 19, 2010 at 7:08 PM

As I’m sure Ed said:

What a Rush!

Kudos for a well-deserved honor!

profitsbeard on February 19, 2010 at 7:08 PM

SIMPLY THE BEST!

IowaWoman on February 19, 2010 at 7:14 PM

Captain America on February 19, 2010 at 7:14 PM

Well, Ed, there ya go. Here’s one good example of someone getting what they deserve.

Congrats and I hope the lauds continue.

Robert17 on February 19, 2010 at 7:16 PM

Congratulations, Ed. Thanks for all the work you do and the time you put in to make a great website. Exit question: If Allahpundit wins next year, will the identity of the blogosphere’s most mysterious pundit be revealed?

fitzsweetpea on February 19, 2010 at 7:18 PM

If Allahpundit wins next year, will the identity of the blogosphere’s most mysterious pundit be revealed?

I wouldn’t win.

Allahpundit on February 19, 2010 at 7:19 PM

Congrats Ed!!!!!!

NY Conservative on February 19, 2010 at 7:19 PM

AP, you’re in for about half of that, for my money.

Scott P on February 19, 2010 at 7:20 PM

Congratulations Ed for all of your hard work.
What a dream introduction… Wow!

gatewaypundit on February 19, 2010 at 7:26 PM

Allahpundit on February 19, 2010 at 7:19 PM

Hey Allah, when Ace won ‘Blogger of the Year’ you guys were kind enough to mention it here at Hot Air…

A quick check of his sight, and our esteemed Ed Morissey is no where to be found.

What’s up with that? I thought you and Ace were BFFs?

Seven Percent Solution on February 19, 2010 at 7:27 PM

WTG, Ed.

Congrats!

toenail on February 19, 2010 at 7:34 PM

Michelle Malkin is the new ‘George Soros’ of conservative internet media?

Conservatives have always been more diverse than liberals.

Chuckle….

percysunshine on February 19, 2010 at 7:37 PM

OK, finally got home from work and was able to watch. Wow! Congrats Ed! Pretty special day, Blogger of the year, introduced by EL Rushbo, and get to introduce the only conservative woman that could steal me away from Sarah Palin!

conservnut on February 19, 2010 at 7:43 PM

Congratulations, Ed, for a most well-deserved award.

I can remember back when you were hosting Captains Quarters, and I sent you a measly $25 to help you to attend CPAC. You’ve come a long way, baby.

onlineanalyst on February 19, 2010 at 7:43 PM

Yaaaaaaaaay Ed! I love Hotair!

Califemme on February 19, 2010 at 7:46 PM

w00t congratulations CE!!

das411 on February 19, 2010 at 7:48 PM

btw, Captains Quarters will go down in history as a conservative ‘Sail Into The Wind’ Jib.

‘A jib is a triangular staysail set ahead of the foremast of a sailing boat.’

percysunshine on February 19, 2010 at 7:51 PM

Simply the BEST! Congrats to Ed!!

TN Mom on February 19, 2010 at 7:57 PM

Congratulations Ed! I am so proud of you and inspired by your hard earned award. I am honored to be in your presence if only as a Hot Air commenter. How awesome is that to receive this major award (did you get a leg lamp trophy?) from the Maharushi. I am sure all your kindness to him endeared you to him even more, as well as your impeccable ability to bring us truth.

God Bless all of the Morrisey family, MM, Salem Communications & even Allahpundit!

Congratulations, Ed. I always enjoy your perspective and thought out posts. You certainly deserve the recognition for your talents.

I also enjoyed the Old Glory backdrop on the stage. It made you look, well, presidential!

Congratulations, Ed!

You clearly enjoy what you do and it is great to see all of your hard work being recognized and rewarded!

ReagansRight on February 19, 2010 at 8:24 PM

Ed,

Many years ago you and I had a private discussion about faith, family, and the path you were walking.

Wow, has that path taken you to some exciting places.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. Cheers!

Keemo on February 19, 2010 at 8:37 PM

Wow, from just a guy blogging about Eagan and Minnesota to Rush Limbaugh introductions, in just a couple of years. Big time grats!

Love the intro to Bachmann! She’s a Lady…. LMAO!

And a huge Thank You – for being here when this once-Lifelong-Democrat needed a place to turn to during the horrible mess of a 2008 election year.

Congratulations Ed! And well-deserved!

DrAllecon on February 19, 2010 at 8:56 PM

Congratulations, Ed. It’s an honor to have an opportunity to post under your comments.

n0doz on February 19, 2010 at 9:22 PM

Hate to say I’m disappointed by a Rush intro, but I was really hoping we’d meet the mysterious Allah at last.

Rosmerta on February 19, 2010 at 9:54 PM

Congrats Ed!!!

Did Charles Johnson win Miss Congeniality?

Dr. Carlo Lombardi on February 19, 2010 at 10:23 PM

Congratulations to Ed! You deserve it.

InTheBellyoftheBeast on February 19, 2010 at 10:56 PM

Great clip…but an entrance to Tina Turner’s Simply The Best? Oh man…that tune is so overused at conferences and motivational seminars….and I cannot hear it without thinking of this excruciating clip from the original The Office:

Sharke on February 19, 2010 at 11:11 PM

Good job Ed. Now get a promotion and fire AP.

Just kidding. :)

Sapwolf on February 19, 2010 at 11:14 PM

But, you leave us no choice. We must develop a grass-roots movement to discover the identity of AP.

BobMbx on February 19, 2010 at 7:52 PM

Nah, that would degrade HA. The mystery adds a bit of spice to the ambiance of the blog, and Allah pulls it off exceedingly well. If he ever wants to be ‘discovered’ that should be at a time, place and way that he chooses.

Just my deflated US $0.02 worth.

Yoop on February 19, 2010 at 11:15 PM

That was a great intro by El Rushbo. Congratulations again to Ed, a great addition to a great blog. And a sincere thank you to Allah, without whom there would be no Hot Air blog!

Zorro on February 19, 2010 at 11:18 PM

Well deserved, Ed. Congrats on the award.

Regarding HotAir’s future:

I am very content with how things are now here on HotAir. I love the headlines, I really enjoy AP’s and Ed’s writing/analysis, and I really believe significant change to that format could be a bad thing.

jediwebdude on February 19, 2010 at 11:28 PM

What? Rush doesn’t read through ALL the comments?

Well… darn it!

Laura in Maryland on February 19, 2010 at 11:54 PM

Congrats to Ed, props to Michelle for bringing you here in the first place, and here’s hoping that AP gets his due next year!

Spendid chaps, all of you! ;-)

Ed, you have shown the world what a person with Down’s syndrome can accomplish when allowed to come out of the shadows of the cartoon actress world. Congrats, young lad!

If only Trig can be inspired to follow your footsteps, what a wonderful world this could be, former Alaska Governor-former independent blogger.

The sell-out is complete! Thank you and enjoy the money! The Olby interview with the “WPoW” will be priceless!

AZCON on February 20, 2010 at 6:39 AM

Congratulations, Ed! The honor is well deserved!

KittyLowrey on February 21, 2010 at 12:06 AM

I’ve been gone for a few days so I had to go back to the 02-18-2010 post of the Salem acquisition. Frankly, I think Michelle Malkin is feeling relieved. I’ve only been commenting here for over a year now but I have been reading HA since 2007. Allahpundit and Ed for the most part are center and center right pundits respectively, but neither of them are anywhere near as conservative as Michelle. Ed is a strong republican but he is not a Reagan conservative IMHO. I don’t have a prepared laundry list but two things come to mind, 1. he pals around with Dic-4′s hacks like Tommy Christopher who is a terrible writer as well as thinker, and 2. Ed found some of Ezra Klein’s notatations of the health care debate tolerable. This was well after it was a known fact that this lauded health care legislation was a Trojan Horse disguised to help people where in reality it was a total government power grab from the private sector. Allahpundit on the otherhand is a conundrum. He stated on the acquisition thread that pretty much what he’s doing 97% of the time. I don’t think 97% but it is over 75% of the time. Some people have claimed that he is either fixated or lazy. Personally, I think Allahpundit is a rhetorical walking, writing contradiction of diction who could write for the Washington Post as their token conservative just like David Brooks writes for the NY Times as their token imbiber of faux conservative thought. Allahpundit features commentary that together produces an unstable tension in the political center right arenas and in the politically correct societies of the world of the TMZ readership. His favorite thing to do is to review and report here for us the perceived fringes of the liberal socialist-statist and/or the Reagan type conservative movers and shakers. For example, it’s basically comprises a story provided by someone on MSNBC or CNN cable shows for the extreme left POV and for the right it’s whatever the RSS feeder has on Sarah Palin or with much less frequency, Glenn Beck. Allahpundit tries for the most part to be like a solid yellow center line that divides the traffic coming from opposing directions. It is sorta like the space that Jake Tapper occupies or falls in between when reporting; stay inside the double yellow line exactly in the middle of the road of political leanings for all the rolling thoughts of the day.

Some people are aware that the center or eye of the hurricane is the safest place to be during a the storms passing, but staying in the center gets harder when you don’t know which direction it is about to shift. So yeah, I think Allahpundit is a savvy social centrist because it safer in his non-fringe type mind of reasoning but he is perhaps enough of a fiscal conservative to convince a majority of the readership of HotAir that he’s okay in spite of himself.

000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

BTW, Ed the bulk of your work is good but if Rush was really paying attention, he’d discover that you’re an 85%er.

Americannodash on February 21, 2010 at 5:33 AM

Congratulations, Ed — well done! I appreciated your kind words about Michelle Malkin and your GREAT introduction of Michele Bachmann, one of the best representatives in the U.S. House!
