Report: Poisoning plot at Fort Jackson?
posted at 9:49 pm on February 18, 2010 by Allahpundit
People are tweeting and e-mailing about it so I feel obliged to post, but I have to say: The details seem awfully thin for a story of such huge import, with so many incendiary implications. No disrespect to Fox News or CBN but take this with a grain of salt. FNC:
The U.S. Army is investigating allegations that soldiers were attempting to poison the food supply at Fort Jackson in South Carolina…
The Army is taking the allegations “extremely seriously,” Grey said, but so far, “there is no credible information to support the allegations.”
The suspects were part of a Arabic translation program called “09 Lima” and use Arabic as their first language, two sources told Fox News. Another military source said they were Muslim.
And CBN:
CBN News has learned exclusively that five Muslim soldiers at Fort Jackson in South Carolina were arrested just before Christmas. It is unclear whether the men are still in custody. The five were part of the Arabic Translation program at the base…
A source with intimate knowledge of the investigation, which is ongoing, told CBN News investigators suspect the “Fort Jackson Five” may have been in contact with the group of five Washington, DC area Muslims that traveled to Pakistan to wage jihad against U.S. troops in December. That group was arrested by Pakistani authorities, also just before Christmas.
Another Army spokesman told the AP that he’s unaware of any arrests. I’m awfully curious as to who leaked the investigation and why. After Fort Hood, with all the toxic PR the military absorbed for having missed so many red flags about Hasan, it could be that someone on the inside feared they’d try to sweep this under the rug to avoid another embarrassment. But even so, why run with the story until you know there’s something to it?

People need to lose their jobs.
First their was a shooting at Fort Hood.
Now a group of muslim soldiers work to poison solders & and it is covered up.
WTF? Is Obama going to come out and blame this on Bush? Get Chris Matthews and the Southern Poverty Law center to call our troops racists who had it coming?

Good question. It’s so unlike the press to do that. Hey did you hear the one about Rush hating black people? True story. Got it from the press.

If I’m not mistaken chow is prepared by civilian contractors in the same way that gate security is handled on military installations stateside. (a little help from active duty?)

Gonna have to wait and see on this. No use jumping the gun til we know more. However, with all that’s going on right now, the last thing Obama, and the White House needs, is another terrorist attack on an American base. So white washing could be going on as well.

Seems hard to beleive this could’ve been kept under wraps since Dec. Soldiers gossip worse than old ladies, even if national security was cited, something would’ve leaked before everyone got the word to clam-up.

That could never happen. But it would show our tolerance and respect for those that have diverse opinions.
We should do it, invite CAIR Catering Inc. in to cater all our military functions.

I don’t know if it’s the sources or the reporter, but that phrasing makes me skeptical, for some reason.

You’re mis-reading the article, as I did at first (whoever wrote the article did a poor job at it). This didn’t happen back in December.
This group five that were arrested, I’d assume today as no date is given, may have been in contact with ANOTHER group (also five members) of DC area Muslims that went missing and were found in Pakistan that tried to wage jihad against U.S. troops in December. That second group, the DC area Muslims, were the ones arrested in December–and there were news reports on it.
The “Fort Jackson Five” is a separate group that were likely arrested recently.

This will cramp the defense of Field Marshal Hasan* at Fort Hood. It was going to be a slam dunk to palm this off as one crazy lonely Muslim run amok. But how do you do that when the Jackson Five are harmonizing in quantity for Jihad on another base?
This is real late and murky, so it’s probably true in todays world.
*you know he would be a Field Marshal by now if there wasn’t so much bigotry and racism against Muslims in the Armed forces.

Would Obama cover-up for Muslims trying to poison our troops? Yeah, he sure would. He would have covered-up the crotch bomber if he could have.
Covering up Islamic terrorism has been around for several administrations. Carter covered up Arafat’s involvement in murdering a US dignitary. Clinton covered up the Bukhari midair collision on 9/11/2000, one year to the day prior to 9/11. It’s likely that are incidents that Bush covered up in the name of political correctness, as well.

daesleeper on February 18, 2010 at 10:28 PM
This warrants serious consideration, really. While it wasn’t particularly our shining moment, this was deemed as necessary in WWII with the Japs and the internment camps. If you’ve raed “At Dawn We Sle[pt” you’d know that infiltration ops by nipponese agents was indeed prevelant and thje camps more than likely saved many lives. And the Nisei rebounded extraordinarily well back into the mainstream there-after.
At some point we (which I think we’ve demonstrably passed) have a duty to those who serve to not needless put them in danger. Call me a xenophobe if you like, but there are practicalities to consider.

Have they raised the terror alert level for military bases? I remember after 9/11, the National Gaurd in my town was on lock-down (my son’s Boy Scout troop had to meet else where) and this happened multiple times for a year or so.
TN Mom on February 18, 2010 at 11:08 PM
Look, here’s the deal. The administration chooses to believe that the terrorists are not dangerous, just misunderstood. So far, the administration has been able to dodge any really negative repercussions from this policy because they have strong editorial influence over the MSM and absolute control over information coming out of the military.
The president has consistently downplayed the war on terror, not for of any legitimate reason, but purely for partisan political purposes. It is useless to discuss the geopolitical, moral, economic – even existential – aspects of terrorism with the administration, Democrat party hacks, or their shills in the press.
So, let me put it to them in a form they will understand. If the president looks out his window one day and, God forbid, sees a mushroom cloud rising up in the distance, in the few seconds he has left in the house that every president since John Adams has called home, he can reflect on the fact that the ‘man-made disaster’ will mean the absolute end of the Democrat party. Forever. And it will be all his fault.

Quick! Give them a civilian trial!
Exit question: how many more “moderate” Muslims do we have like this within the military?
Like Robert Spencer says, ‘They were moderate Muslims…until they weren’t anymore.’
If ‘don’t ask don’t tell’ is a big deal, then how big will the ‘dismiss all Mislims from military service’ debate be? Hmm..

Remember, first reports are ALWAYS wrong.
And, as a previous poster mentioned, there is no way this could have been kept quiet for so long. Soldiers gossip, MPs gossip, and 5 (or 3) arrestes would be impossible to keep quiet. We are not yet at the point where people can disappear and no one notices.
Even Communist Russia and Socialist Germany were never really able to do that. People still noticed and talked to their friends and family.

I have a suspicion that a lot of the deaths of US troops, and maybe most of them within the last few months, have come at the hands of the “friendly” Muslims, Afgahanis and translators, that Obama is forcing the troops to serve shoulder-to-shoulder with.

JC Silverberg on February 19, 2010 at 4:57 AM
Islam is NOT a religion.
Islam is a DEATH CULT.
If you are not a muslim, then they want you dead.
It is as simple as that.
ms on February 19, 2010 at 5:07 AM
This one’s pretty touchy. Although I do not doubt that there were Japanese agents spying for Japan before Pearl Harbor, some even Nisei, the vast majority of Nisei were loyal, patriotic American citizens who had been assimilated way before. We had the German-American Bund in full force here in the States and Roosevelt didn’t put German Americans into internment camps. But most Nisei were eager to prove their loyalty and many served with distinction in the European theater.
That said, I would have to agree that Islam, as written in the Koran and preached throughout the world, is incompatible with the American way of life. Those in the military should be screened as thoroughly as possible, with Israeli-style methods and not the current PC way with blinders on and unless found 100% loyal beyond any doubt, should be removed. Sadly and tellingly, the Muslim community is at best silent about what happens here and abroad vis a vis Islamofascism when they should be in a full-throated cry renouncing the violence committed in their name. The only voices we seem to hear are those from CAIR, the ACLU and the other usual leftists Quislings.
Oh, and did I mention that it was President Franklin Roosevelt (D/Progressive-NY) who instituted the internment camps?

Agreed, it does need further consideration. The Japanese, however, were loyal to this country first, unlke most muslims whose first loyalty is to Islam. So even a putative all muslim batallion might not work.

Thanks! I knew I remembered hearing something about this some time back and could not remember where. Thanks for posting this.
+1 to Southern Gent. Some things are just evident and common sense. I agree with you on Muslims not being able to overall function in our military. Just look at the number of Iraqis and Afghans who supposedly were on our side, but who ended up killing members of our military. What I really do not get on this is the fact that our military has performed more good acts for Muslims than Muslims themselves. The Suni and Shia beat and bang on each other, we come in to stop the killings, and we are in turn rewarded by suicide bombers.
Of course not all Muslims are hell bent to kill us or others. However, there are fewer of them than there are of those who want to wage war with those not of their belief. Historically Muslims have earned the reputation they currently have, and if the military cannot realize this, we will continue to see our glorious military in grave danger both here at home and overseas.

The fact that you are offended doesn’t make it less true. I am a traditionalist Catholic and I also put God and Church over loyalty to the nation, any good Catholic must. However there is rarely a conflict between the two since Americans are the children of Europe who in turn is the child of the Church. Christian values thus (still) permeate American culture although the Christian influence is on a steep decline. Another counter argument to your victimhood is that Christianity is a force for good while islam (not jsut muslims, but the religion itself) iss intrinsically evil and destructive. Not all religions are born equal. The perverse and satanic cult of islam must be eradicated not only in the Western world but in the muslim world as well or this planet will never see peace. If this can happen by reason and conversion so much better but we do not live in fantasy land so we ahve to realize that it will take generations of warfare or a few strategic nuclear bombs to get rid of the problem once and for all.
