Breitbart TV looks back on Byrd, Boxer, Klobuchar blaming lack of snow on AGW

posted at 5:21 pm on February 10, 2010 by Ed Morrissey

Earlier today, MS-NBC and Time Magazine tried to argue that the massive amounts of snow hitting the mid-Atlantic region somehow proves anthropogenic global-warming (AGW) theory, but it wasn’t that long ago that Democrats in Congress blamed AGW for the relative lack of snowfall in the same region, as well as in Minnesota. Breitbart TV and Naked Emperor News plays a Greatest Hits compendium of quotes from 2005 through 2008 from Senate Democrats Barbara Boxer, Robert Byrd, Amy Klobuchar, and Jay Inslee explaining that the lack of snow was predicted by the AGW climate models and represented an emergency requiring immediate action by the federal government:

I suspect that seeing the sun rise in the east somehow would convince these people of global warming, or at least of the need to seize the means of energy production, which is really the point. Too much snow, too little snow, snow that doesn’t form pretty crystals, and bent snow shovels all would meet the climate models — mainly because the climate models are so unreliable that pretty much any kind of weather can be claimed as evidence.

The Church of Global Warming says the earth is dangerously heating up, but I know that it is not, for I have seen the snow and ice and have felt their bitter cold, and I have more faith in snow and ice than in the Church of Global Warming, and it’s High Priests.

In the fall of 1998, the most recent year of peak temperatures, I was in Scotland, where at least one tourguide complained that the previous winter was very mild with little snow, resulting in a very poor ski season. Like these congresscritters, she blamed it on man-made global warming, which she also blamed for the spread of “bracken” (the British term for ferns). This winter, by contrast, the entire island of Britain was covered with snow.

AGW is a religion. Algore is a prophet in hiding. Cap and trade are your AGW tithes. AGW skeptics are excommunicated from the scientific community. And these are the reasons that Thomas Jefferson wanted to separate the government from establishing a religion.

these leftists are shameless liars.

their lies about agw are no different in character or intent than their lies about what caused the housing bubble.

they deny that climate change is natural and that the CRA and FANNIE MAE had anything to do with the bubble.

but their denials and policy proposals are shallow and useless in the face of reality.

well, worse than useless: the remedies they propose for the housing and banking industries will make the economy worse, and the only thing their eco-policies will produce is a global depression.

and another thing: their shifts on snow proves that agw is a religion and not science as it demonstrates that agw adherents consider agw to be non-falsifiable.

Both. Cold and heat are both caused by global warming.

Ice breaks off from the Arctic, but the ice back is thickening at the same time. All caused by the increasing heat that makes things colder.

If you can’t grasp all that, you’re a denier.

Nevermind. We’ll let you off the hook just this once. We’re from the government and we’re here to help.

Unfortunatley – that study was originally funded for $125M with Cali muni bonds, which are now worthless. But good news – there has been another issuance for $75M more, which should be reported around 2028, when original interest paymetns are caught up.

Until then, go with both.

More evidence that one should read scientific publications to get good information on global warming. Folks like senators (like Byrd, Boxer, Demint), radio and TV talk show personalities (like Limbaugh), and people who pretend to be experts (Gore, Monckton) may have their opinions, but they are probably no better informed than most of us non-scientists.
