I agree, but the mass media treatment of the subject and the two individuals is more than relevant. It is necessary to notice and highlight the differences in treatment so more folks have a perspective that allows for sensible participation in our Republic.

Mr. Obama’s background might be unconventional but his educational path is pretty much the status quo of all that we have been taught to revere. Considering that most of our troubled institutions are headed by that same path I don’t think it is a surprise that we are having systemic failure in the country. I agree with you that it is time to go outside the box. I may be sorry for asking but how much worse could it get?

If drawing attention to the disproportionate amount of nitpicking and spurious hyperbole directed at Sarah Palin, compared to the “kid gloves” treatment reserved exclusively for The Jug-eared One qualifies as “obsessing over stupid stuff”, then yes, it does.
