Video: The media’s got a fee-vah and the only prescription is more Palin crib notes
posted at 4:52 pm on February 8, 2010 by Allahpundit
Via Media Blog, Breitbart, and Think Progress, a smattering of “insight” on the greatest political scandal of modern times: Sarah Palin’s crib notes. Of the three clips, the slo-mo replay in the CNN video is my very favorite moment, but Shuster’s “hmmm” and Mitchell’s hand-wringing over what public reaction would be had Mitt Romney done this (horrors!) are close seconds. Nate Silver’s point that writing on her hand plays into negative aspects of Palin’s image is fine, I guess — Obama’s silly “corpsman” gaffe resonated for the same reason — but I’m mystified by the hypocrisy charge. Goofing on Obama for being some sort of presidential Ron Burgundy with his teleprompter is now unfair because she used … a five-word list of bullet points?
It’s nice to see that Sarahcuda’s having fun with it, though. “Hi Mom!”

There’s not a chance in hell of that happening. Maybe others, but not that one. It would howl in the darkness for hours if it thought someone, somewhere, was listening.

Ugh. She constantly makes a fool of herself. Hell, I can see Alaska from my front door! Newspapers?? Uhh, I don’t read them paper things. Supreme Court decisions? You mean like the Diana Ross group? Hey, that birtherism stiff ain’t half bad- it’s a legitimate issue!
Obama constantly got a pass from the media. Why does Palin always get a pass from conservatives for her constant stream of boneheaded moves?
TheBlueSite on February 8, 2010 at 7:32 PM
When did she say that?
Juno77 on February 8, 2010 at 7:34 PM
Tell me, crr6–tell us all: What do you do when a little girl comes to you on a cold morning, asking pennies so she can maybe buy a cup of coffee? You ‘grant’ her the pennies and move on, or do you dig deeper so maybe that little girl can also have a bite to eat, too.
You revile Christians like me, but in the end our giving doesn’t come with a price tag. Yours, among you liberals, always does.
The difference between you and Christians like me is awareness. You say, “I did a good thing today.”
People like me say, “Thank You, Lord, for letting me be able to feed someone. Glory to God in the Highest!”
That’s what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.

This is, by far, one of the dumbest things I’ve EVER heard a politician say. I have foreign policy credentials, because Putin flies over Alaskan airspace sometime.
Look, if you guys want to think she’s the next conservative messiah, go with it. But expect 4 more years of Obama, because Obama might be naive and totally unqualified for the job, but at least he SOUNDS like he has some sense. Palin doesn’t even hide it- she reads 100% from a script, she’s totally manufactured (like Obama)…her problem is she rarely makes it look natural. You can always tell Palin is reading a script, working off of some talking points someone else wrote for her. Obama, though his ideas are idiotic, they at least seem to come out of his own core convictions.

I want to play. crr6 sounds like the blind leading the blind. It all about how stupid we are and how stupid Sarah Palin is.
Why is crr6 here is my question? Did the snowstorm in DC cause you to leave your bridge?
If you don’t like it, stay away.
On topic I could care less what Sarah Palin wrote on her hand, it ideas that matter and guess what. I approve oif her ideas.
Now the last time I heard Barry was the Martha stump when he talked about how Scott Brown wanted to cut taxes and Martha would make sure taxes went up. I stopped listening because the man is a damn fool. It went over like a lead balloon with the people that had come to see Obama too.
BTW that was on a totus.
Sarah has tapped into what many want. A USA founded on the constitution not on socialist ideas. Presidents that are proud of the USA not apologize for it. Presidents and congressmen and women that think spend, spend, spend and worry about paying it later is a good idea.
But then that reality is something you seem to be divorced from.

Two different flavors of fool. And as a bonus, BOTH of them are not infrequently serious stumbletongues.
Any nation whose dominant political parties offer people like Obama Bin Lyin’ and Palin as their best candidates is in serious trouble.
But any nation that actually picks someone like them as a leader is in even worse trouble.

She correctly claimed that she was aware of Russian foreign policy from one aspect — as Governor of Alaska, she gets reports of all movement of Alaska Air National Guard planes — you know, the ones tasked to intercept the prowling Bears?
In addition, she negotiated with the Canadians for the transport of Alaskan oil to the United States — winning a good bid from TransCanada to build the pipeline. She did this after the three oil companies doing business in Alaska tried to highball Alaska for said pipleline.
During Palin’s tenure as Governor, Alaska negotiated with the Russians and our own Government over Alaska/Russian access to Bering Sea fisheries.
This Alaskan Government site is instructive.
Pretty smart, pretty executive. Now, what’s Obama done that’s anywhere near as foreign as that? Gone to Copenhagen a few times — how hopey changey was that?

While I’m quite aware that palin has convictions — she is certainly walking the walk as she talks the talk — I’m not so sure Obama has any other than obtaining and keeping office?

The only solution I can come up with is to flip the bird to both of the Big Two big time. If that means running your hero Palin on a 3rd party…so be it. I’d readily endure her if it meant breaking the 1 & 1/2 party sham we’re under now.
Let’s face it; the trick of running on a we’re-not-the-evil-Dems/Repubs is going to keep working so long as we refuse to consider other choices. The two parties will just keep using each other as foils to get elected when they’re out of power. Our government is already on a sort of timeshare and all we get to do is pick which lazy, lousy, lying resident gets to mess up the place.

I’m late to the party here, but I’m starting to think this was all calculated by her.
She HAD to know people would be looking at her every move and watching everything she does.
You can’t tell me she had no idea that anybody would notice.
“oooo, I hope nobody sees…” btw she opens her hand so the cameras can see it.
Uh, ya, me thinks she did this all on purpose.
Even if she didn’t, it was 6 words. The first thing I thought was, why the hell didn’t she just use ol’ fashioned cards. That’s what people do when they give speeches.
It’s totally normal.
But she did this. Then the next day, she writes Hi mom.
Ya can you say, playing them all like fiddles?
She must be laughing her a$$ off when the cameras go off.
She’s toying with them all.
6 words. Settings off a FIRESTORM lol.

It’s we, the WalMart crowd out here that’s gonna elect the next President – and elitist ninnies of Liberal and Conservative ilk can just choke on that fact.
It’s our turn.
And, I guess that elitists think that Palin writing on her hands is kind of “low rent” conduct. But I got a news flash …
A lot of us WalMart foks write on our hands. We write phone numbers, to-do lists, grocery lists – hell, I’ve even seen pilots write target coordinates on their hands.
This kind of controversy illustrates the fact of how the elites are totally clueless on how to torpedo Palin. What they THINK will sink her in our eyes …
Actually increases her “bonafides” with us.

Obama stands before the hostile House Republican Conference and for an hour easily swats away vacuous talking points, unscripted, with no teleprompter.

Well, after a 45 minute speech if this is all they can find to be critical about then I would say it was a home run. I must be an idiot too. My job involves speaking and I have written notes on my hand when being evaluated to jump start my brain in case of a blank moment. I thought nothing of Palin doing the same. She was prepared.
Bikerchick on February 8, 2010 at 10:06 PM
Not sure I want to wade into this swamp, but here goes. Whoever is the nominee that does not have a D next to there name will most likely get my support. That said it is troubling to see this hypocrisy, yes hypocrisy.
Using a teleprompter or notes is not fine for their guy, but fine for our guy. The R-word is the same as the N-word, unless your our guy then it is funny.
She can do alot of good presenting positive ideas and less attacking, especially if she is guilty of what she is attacking others for. I can understand reflexively defending your people, but she deserves criticism here
koolbrease on February 8, 2010 at 10:14 PM

I think you need to expand on why she NEEDS critism here because you lost me there. I would guess it is some kind of comparision to having a checklist on your hand to screwing up words feed into a telepromter being equal. Just to add you pretty much don’t need a checklist when the whole speech is written out. If you think Obama wings it EVER then that is why the teleprompter was in the 6th grade classroom. He doesn’t like to go on record without something WAY beyond a checklist that fits on your hand. Hypocrisy? Please it’s the difference between using a batting glove and steroids in baseball to enhance performance hitting home runs.

Trying to be funny or stupid? See Alaska from my front door? Is that meant to be funny in some way or just more of your incoherent ramblings?
It is possible to see Russia from Alaska..Big and Little Diomede Islands in the Bering Straits? We have Little Diomede, they have Big Diomede. Roughly 2 miles between em’. (If that’s what you’re referencing. Lots of Russian immigrants here in the Great Land.)
And then you just purely made crap up.
She must scare you pretty bad to get you all worked up like that.
Obama is incapable of speaking in the fashion she did without the help of a teleprompter and the he screws even that up all the time. Corpseman for Corpsman was just the latest.
One thing I’ll wager. If she were in the WH you wouldn’t find the image of Mao on a Christmas ornament hangin’ from the White House Christmas tree. No communists like Van Jones walking those halls. I had the good fortune of being there. Sarah Palin made no secret of looking at her hand for a very brief moment. It was at the very end of her appearance. She had just given a long and well delivered speech – without any annoying TelePrompters. The door that she entered and exited through was very close to the stage and she likely had but a few moments to gather some final thoughts before coming on stage. Jotting a few things down on her hand actually shows me that she is self-reliant and taking her job seriously. She didn’t depend on staff or a teleprompter typist to tell her what to say. She may use notes, but she speaks with a genuineness that connects with the audience. This woman is clearly a threat to the MSM – it was funny to see so many of them there to cover the speech of Private Citizen Palin so that they could then comment on how insignificant she is. They are fools acting foolishly.

They can’t really direct their anger at him so everybody else gets it.
It’s unnatural and sick. The baseball gloves to ‘roids analogy is right on.
These people don’t realize how stupid they sound. Really.
Speaking in front of a live audience using notes -not a moving teleprompter holding your hand- is standard procedure when giving a long speech.
What is she supposed to do? Speak from her mind using nothing whatsoever for 50 freakin’ mins? Well then the trolls would have something else to complain about.
“did you see the way she looked into the camera?!?!? Crazy eyes that woman has, crazy!!11!”
I’d like to see O talk like she did using notes on his hand.
Be interesting to see how he did. I remember the last presser he gave back 7 months ago when he spoke with no teleprompter at all and sounded absolutely ridiculous talking about health care.
Hm wonder when the next press conf. will happen.

The icing on the cake was last night when ABC’s overnight “news”-reader airheads tried to fake a mocking air of disdain when pointing out Sarah’s reminder list. Then the two ended the story by not being sure which ABC simp was supposed to read their studio teleprompter next!! Good thing (for ABC) those two newsreaders were parked in front of the camera during graveyard shift. Will those two ABC teleprompter airheads get the “Hi mom” joke played on them? Not likely.

Wait, wait, it’s much too soon to end it all! Check out FreeTube – you can get Fox News free over the Internet in real time, plus lots of other cable channels. I watch Fox pretty often that way.

If Sarah said this, technically, she should be correct.

Gov. Palin just took literally what her children waould st to her in the day “mom – talk to the hand”
An I agree, Gov. Palin needs fewer cues to keep on point than President Obama.

I look for Sarah Palin to take more foreign trips in the next year and a half to bone up on her foreign policy…meet some international leaders.

For all her faults, Sarah Palin’s “palm notes” are not the equivolent of Obama’s teleprompter. The media is f’ing stupid they can’t seem to figure that out. Just last night, I happened to catch the end of Nightline and Cynthia McFadden made the statement that it was “right out of junior high” and basically said it was the equivolent of Obama’s teleprompter. Bulls**t. Having notes about speech issues vs. reading from a teleprompter for an entire speech, honey. And 2+2 does not = 5.

I love it when she gets the Liberal Media’s tighty whiteys in a knot. You know she knows exactly how to drive the MSM nuts. It’s not really that difficult. Glenn Beck does it all the time – then they help drive his ratings up LOL!

Are we sure that she actually had notes on her hand and that photo wasn’t photo-shopped? I mean, I don’t care if she skipped the note cards or not, it’s just I’d hate to have to listen to this nonsense if the event never actually happened.

Palin has had to deal with Russia (all those damn Russian jets that have infringed on U.S. airspace) and Canada. I’m betting when she deals with China, India, and the Euros, she’ll come out far better than Teh Wan.
WHat’s killin’ the Dems is how Palin’s constantly laughing at them and Teh Wan.
Speaking of crib notes, Dems ought to be quiet about Palin and that. She wrote 7 words or so on her hand and kept a crowd enthralled for more than half hour. Plus, she mocked Teh Wan to death (how’s that hopey changey thing workin’ out for ya?) and brought the house down. Teh Wan? He’s got TOTUS and still can’t say the danged words on it right. If he wrote 7 words on his hand, I doubt he could keep going for seven minutes. THAT’S why the libs are mad at Sarah Palin after this weekend.
Run, Sarah, Run!

I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when one of my FB “friends” actually wrote “when has it been okay to cheat by writing notes on your hand?” And she’s serious. God help the Republic.

Each of these guys talking had notes in front of them…they don’t see the irony.
And they don’t see the difference between a few notes and a whole speech, a whole dialog being fed?
This is like saying stopping in a marathon to take a drink of water is the same as sitting in the stands watching the race.

Okay, everybody take a photo of your hand with crib notes on it. I posted mine on my FB page. Mine was in honor of the O. “Teleprompter broke- Uh, uh, ah, uhm” I wonder what Andrea’s would say?
builderswife on February 9, 2010 at 10:49 AM
Probably because she never said those things…only a bonehead repeats rumors that are actually lies.
That is why she gets a “pass”, because you boneheads can’t pass a simple “truth” test.
The best part, is that we get to laugh at you guys as you flail around adopting lies, SNL skits as the truth…you guys are a riot, and we get to laugh at you…
