Video: The media’s got a fee-vah and the only prescription is more Palin crib notes
posted at 4:52 pm on February 8, 2010 by Allahpundit
Via Media Blog, Breitbart, and Think Progress, a smattering of “insight” on the greatest political scandal of modern times: Sarah Palin’s crib notes. Of the three clips, the slo-mo replay in the CNN video is my very favorite moment, but Shuster’s “hmmm” and Mitchell’s hand-wringing over what public reaction would be had Mitt Romney done this (horrors!) are close seconds. Nate Silver’s point that writing on her hand plays into negative aspects of Palin’s image is fine, I guess — Obama’s silly “corpsman” gaffe resonated for the same reason — but I’m mystified by the hypocrisy charge. Goofing on Obama for being some sort of presidential Ron Burgundy with his teleprompter is now unfair because she used … a five-word list of bullet points?
It’s nice to see that Sarahcuda’s having fun with it, though. “Hi Mom!”

Zero can\’t cut his own crib notes down to less than five-thousand lines, so he\’s stuck with TOTUS.

Irrelevant quitters always have writing on their hands discussed on the national news.
lorien1973 on February 8, 2010 at 4:55 PM
Wow, she had all that on her hand!
Man, I thought I was clever when I got it on a water bottle label…

I honestly do wonder if she wrote on her hand intentionally to do a media tweak like Rush Limbaugh does. Because she also paper with her for her speech.
The “Hi Mom!” a day later seems to point in that direction.
Enoxo on February 8, 2010 at 4:56 PM
…in other news, the MSM is still mystified that their ratings are dropping like stones while FNC ratings are skyrocketing…
Rebar on February 8, 2010 at 4:56 PM
Andrea Mitchell’s voice just grates on the nerves. ::Shudder::
This whole “controversy” is so dumb, I can’t even find the energy to make fun of the Left for actually running with it.
changer1701 on February 8, 2010 at 4:56 PM
That’s not a cheat sheet. It’s a reminder list, simply to remember to stress those points. So what?
zauriel on February 8, 2010 at 4:56 PM
Flummoxed.
They don’t know what to do.
“She wrote crib notes on her hand? That’s not in the manual! She can’t do that!”
turfmann on February 8, 2010 at 4:57 PM
So Andrea the Stalker is worried about how the public would react to Mitt Romney writing on his hand? Girl, Single White Female was just a movie, not a script for handling a political figure.
BradSchwartze on February 8, 2010 at 4:57 PM
She had 6 words on her hand and spoke for 40 minutes.
Let’s see Obummer do that.
ladyingray on February 8, 2010 at 4:57 PM
that “Hi-Mom” was classic Palin. She loves to tweak the far-left media like that.

This fever is all the more hilarious, coming from defenders of a guy who can’t even introduce his own staff members without a teleprompter, and has the reading comprehension (and grammar) of a sixth grader.
Vashta.Nerada on February 8, 2010 at 4:58 PM
I don’t have expectations of the media, but this sets a new bar. Is any real person bothered by this at all? I mean, anyone who has given public speeches before has used outline or bullet points they don’t want to pass over accidentally. What’s the problem? That she wrote in on her hand?
I’m not getting the “outrage”.
Spirit of 1776 on February 8, 2010 at 4:58 PM
So let me get this right!
Sarah has a few words on her hand for one speech she gets an F.
Zero uses TOTUS everywhere he goes and he gets a B+.
hhhhmmmmm
Maybe Sarah should start carrying a teleprompter around and see what the liberals say to that.
Brat4life on February 8, 2010 at 4:58 PM
She’s in Beck, Rush territory. She knows how to play the media like a fiddle. Everytime the media criticizes her, she gains more attention and popularity, while the base becomes more defensive and supportive of her. She is a smart woman.
I hope she runs in 2012. She gets my vote.

This story just gets funnier and funnier. The media has become truly pathetic. CNN w/ a slow mo….LOL!! Palin plays them like fools… even RINOs and some conservatives can’t understand it. Last week it was email/Toddgate, this week, its palm/handgate…
davek70 on February 8, 2010 at 5:00 PM
See, one has an entire speech laid out for you, and another has 3 talking points which she expands upon. Clearly, she is a total moron.

I’d make sure I have something written on both hands every time I go out in public.
Perhaps she could write a simple “FU” on there and see what happens! LOL

Superb controversy. It will make people wonder, “What are these strange and foreign concepts – Energy? Tax Cuts? Lift American Spirits? What could they mean?”
RushBaby on February 8, 2010 at 5:00 PM
Fact: Nate Silver wants Palin’s image to be in the toilet. Another fact: There are more articles written about Palin’s five words on her hands than Obama’s “corpseman” gaffe.

they can’t respond to her actual speech so that stoop to this crap….PATHETIC

If Ron Paul had done that, this thread would be one bashfest of a “looney tune”. If Obama had done it, it would be more proof that the man is a dunce. Sarah Palin does it, and it’s the media that is stupid. The woman can do no wrong. I guess how one perceives events is determined by one’s political bias. You think?

Good job, drive-bys. Because we all know that 6 words scribbled on one’s hand while delivering a 40-minute speech is the same as relying on a teleprompter to speak to a group of 6th graders.
I swear, the media is in the same boat as the Congressional Dems at this point. They’re so far gone that they feel there’s no other choice but to double-down on this insanity.
And I’m starting to wonder if Palin wrote on her hand intentionally to screw with the drive-bys. It’s not like she couldn’t have jotted those words down on a piece of paper. Just like the Rahm Emanuel episode might’ve just been a test by her to see how much clout her Facebook posts really have with this administration(which is a helluva lot based on the aftermath).
Doughboy on February 8, 2010 at 5:04 PM
They have to go after her hand, they can’t go after her speech. Classic Palin–”talk to the hand, suckers!!!”
lovingmyUSA on February 8, 2010 at 5:04 PM
I just like the notion that her common sense conservative principles can be boiled down to four bullet items

Imagine if she runs in 12….they will wet themselves daily trying to find stuff like this…it would be fun to watch!
Meanwhile, our lead story today is Sarah Palin had socks on that did not match her shoes…we go to a live report followed later by the live shots of the mushroom cloud over Israel tonight….but first, back to those socks and shoes…Andrea, take it from here!
SDarchitect on February 8, 2010 at 5:06 PM
I just hope that Palin continues doing it, just to get the media to slather even more attention on her.
In fact, she should write on her hand “Ridicule media for concentrating on writing on my hand” and make sure to show it to everyone; that would shut them up.
Bishop on February 8, 2010 at 5:06 PM
Actually, if Obama had done it, I would have appluaded him for stepping up. It would be kind of like taking off the training wheels and easing his way onto a big-boy bike.

What a bunch of hypocrites….Sarah is being about as “green” as you can be, but still no respect….
Let’s see,
Obama uses a Teleprompter…Cuda uses hand.
Has back-up paper copy…Cuda uses other hand
Teleprompter uses energy…hand does not
Teleprompter is an extra check-in bag….hand is not
God I’m having fun with this….I could keep on going…
PatriotRider on February 8, 2010 at 5:07 PM
For me, it wasn’t that she had stuff that was written on her hand. It was what she wrote. All seemingly innocuous boilerplate. “Tax cut”? “Lift America’s Spirit”? Not exactly cheat notes for a calculus exam.
Interesting, but not a big deal.

This is what happens when you get slapped around by her speech. You resort to picking on her notes.
Has HuffPo, Andrea Mitchell, et al weighed in on the substance of her speech yet? Didn’t think so.

Oh, c’mon, leave Andrea Mitchell alone. After that little episode where Andrea barged in line at Palin’s book signing (where the look on Mitchell’s face was frickin’ priceless), the woman has practically no self respect left.
The only thing worse for Andrea would be for news to surface that she’s getting banged by Keith Olberman…

Even the “serious news” folks at MSNBC, like Mitchell, Todd, and Scarborough are openly mocking Palin. They’re flailing around, trying to get a grip on something, anything, to keep from drowning, and it isn’t working. They’re chest deep in rhetorical quicksand and the more they struggle (mocking Palin) the deeper they sink.

Knucklehead on February 8, 2010 at 5:11 PM
Aren’t the Palinistas a little unsettled about the recent news that her husband wrote a bunch of memos while she was Governor? Isn’t this exactly the same thing we made fun of Hillary doing with Bill in the White House? Please explain to me how its different. Nobody elected Todd Palin to anything. I don’t see why he should be communicating about Alaska governmental subjects.

drjohn on February 8, 2010 at 5:12 PM
How so? And how does a six word list constitute “crib notes”?
I guess we will need to point out, from now on, every time someone says, “In the first place” that that person is utilizing a Roman mnemonic technique and is “cribbing”.
“Corpse-man” was far more than a mere gaffe. It was a deep indicator of the background of the person who uttered it. And not a flattering one – to an American – either.
neurosculptor on February 8, 2010 at 5:12 PM
What I found interesting is that Saturday night I had to run an errand in my car and caught the national ABC news top-of-the-hour report the first item was that Sarah Palin was about to speak at the several hundred dollar a plate Tea Party Convention. I thought to myself, how interesting we are hearing about an ex-vice presidential candidate speaking at a fringe event. Somebody thinks she’s a big deal.
Queen0fCups on February 8, 2010 at 5:12 PM

As I said in other threads, the libs are trying to use this as a way to stop the criticism of Obowmao’s inability to use a teleprompter effectively. This is an equivalency for the Left: Palin wrote on her hand, so we’re all ‘hypocrites’ for snickering when O’s stumbling use of a teleprompter shows him to be the fool he is.
The Left strains out gnats while passing camels through their filter.
