Video: The media’s got a fee-vah and the only prescription is more Palin crib notes

Via Media Blog, Breitbart, and Think Progress, a smattering of “insight” on the greatest political scandal of modern times: Sarah Palin’s crib notes. Of the three clips, the slo-mo replay in the CNN video is my very favorite moment, but Shuster’s “hmmm” and Mitchell’s hand-wringing over what public reaction would be had Mitt Romney done this (horrors!) are close seconds. Nate Silver’s point that writing on her hand plays into negative aspects of Palin’s image is fine, I guess — Obama’s silly “corpsman” gaffe resonated for the same reason — but I’m mystified by the hypocrisy charge. Goofing on Obama for being some sort of presidential Ron Burgundy with his teleprompter is now unfair because she used … a five-word list of bullet points?
It’s nice to see that Sarahcuda’s having fun with it, though. “Hi Mom!”

This makes me laugh. If notes on her hand is all they have to go after her on, you know they’re scared of her.
Meanwhile we have a president who can’t take a crap without a teleprompter telling him when to wipe and this doesn’t seem to bother them.
It’s just pathetically funny.

Remember when Clinton got praise for biting his lip and hesitating for two seconds in every debate AS IF he had to think before reciting, just like he learned at Oxford?
Chris_Balsz on February 9, 2010 at 10:59 AM
This is truly amazing. The Palin haters have blown past the irrational stage and are now deeply into the foaming at the mouth stage. With Olberman, Matthews and now Andrea Mitchel becoming absolutely blind to what they are saying the total meltdown on live TV is immanent. It should be most amusing.
Palin’s ability to turn their hatred back on them is so natural it is a wonder to behold. Just reading some of the posts on this thread is a real joy. The fevered brows, spittle flecked monitor screens and blood shot eyes are easily imagined.
Obama has to hijack the Superbowl, (I wonder how many seconds it took for 50 million mute buttons to be clicked.) While Palin can fill a stadium with a few days notice.
This is living history unfolding before our eyes! She is certain to be the next president.

It cracks me up that our Trolls have basically given up defending Barack The Magnificent and launched an all-out offensive against Sarah Palin. You can literally smell their fear (and they really stink). Their tears are sweet.
kingsjester on February 9, 2010 at 11:01 AM
I like it. How about setting it up in the audience? Directed to the lectern…behind which lectern, an Obama life-sized cut-out. (“Can you hear me now?”)
Barnestormer on February 9, 2010 at 11:02 AM
Uh Huh. It’s much better to have someone who “sounds” better. Are you for real? All despots sounded “good” to their followers at some time or another. I would rather have someone with common sense and conservative values who believes in God and honesty to run this country, than a pathological liar and Marxist ideologue.

OT: funny joke someone sent me:
A U.S. Marine squad was marching north of Fallujah when they came upon an Iraqi insurgent, badly injured and unconscious.
On the opposite side of the road was an American Marine in a similar but less serious state. The Marine was conscious and alert, and as first aid was given to both men the squad leader asked the injured Marine what had happened.
The Marine reported, “I was heavily armed and moving north along the highway, and coming south was a heavily armed insurgent. We saw each other and both took cover in the ditches along the road.
“I yelled to him that Saddam Hussein was a miserable, lowlife scum bag who got what he deserved, and he yelled back that Ted Kennedy was a fat, good-for-nothing, left-wing liberal drunk who doesn’t know how to drive.
“So I said that Osama Bin Laden dresses and acts like a mean-spirited hooker!
“He retaliated by yelling, ‘Oh yeah? Well, so does Nancy Pelosi!’
“And there we were, in the middle of the road, shaking hands, when a truck hit us.”

I just got an email from a friend with a picture of Gov. Palin’s hand with a note that if she thinks she can be president she has delusions of grandeur. I emailed back and asked if she should be allowed to live.
Cindy Munford on February 9, 2010 at 11:17 AM
That is exactly what everyone should take away from this. The left is scared to death of Sarah…
jeffn21 on February 9, 2010 at 11:20 AM
Just as Obama did, it seems our next bunch of leaders will come from unconventional backgrounds. The traditional institutions that formerly produced our leaders are ethically and intellectually bankrupt, so they no longer create the type of wise, sober, traditional pol. you might prefer. But where we are now is a consequence of much that has preceded today’s events, and seems unavoidable. A power vacuum can produce a monster, but to avoid that, and absent a Churchill, imo we may reasonably settle for someone with the right ideas, willing, though less than fully seasoned.

This officially qualifies as obsessing over stupid stuff.
What’s next? Are we to be treated to entries from Keith Olbermann’s “I Hate Sarah Palin Slam Book?”

It’s not just the Left, either. Nor is it among RINOs. Sarah has this potential to change a LOT of the way the Republican Party and the conservative movement does business. You’d be amazed at how many resist such change.

If drawing attention to the disproportionate amount of nitpicking and spurious hyperbole directed at Sarah Palin, compared to the “kid gloves” treatment reserved exclusively for The Jug-eared One, then yes, it does.
How is questioning the most influential institution in our nation deemed “obsessing over stupid stuff”?

Using or not using a teleprompter may destroy us all!

You’ve got to be kidding! This dude has got to get out more — maybe actually listen to her, rather than just recite the boss’s talking points.

The left’s reaction to this illustrates quite nicely why the left are so easily brainwashed and indoctrinated. There is absolutely nothing to see here, yet they will practically hurt themselves trying to “see” something. Mind-numbingly pathetic doesn’t even begin to describe it.
MisterPundit on February 9, 2010 at 12:04 PM
Mr. Obama’s background might be unconventional but his educational path is pretty much the status quo of all that we have been taught to revere. Considering that most of our troubled institutions are headed by that same path I don’t think it is a surprise that we are having systemic failure in the country. I agree with you that it is time to go outside the box. I may be sorry for asking but how much worse could it get?
Cindy Munford on February 9, 2010 at 12:04 PM
Your attempt at misdirection is rather weak.
My point is that the MSM, and weak-minded sycophants such as yourself, go apeshizzle over a couple of “cheat notes” while saying absolutely nothing about The Articulate One having his teleprompter “present” (pun intended) every time he is required to speak publicly. The contrast between the treatment of the two is…, shall we say…, stark?
hillbillyjim on February 9, 2010 at 12:06 PM
I’ll let you all in on a little secret, the part that was crossed off was the correct pronunciation of the word ‘Corpsman’.
Juno77 on February 9, 2010 at 12:10 PM
This whole thing is beyond sad. And of course the Left is scared of Palin.
If Sarah really wants to do a media tweak, she should host SNL with Beck and then do some really goofy-scary stuff to make the hardcore Far Left hide behind the sofa.
Win-Win for everyone! ;-)

TOTUS was funny but stupid. This whole “OMG SHE WROTE ON HER HAND” thing is, if anything, even stupider.
It’s air. Has no substance. Means nothing.
Playground politics writ large.
TheUnrepentantGeek on February 9, 2010 at 12:33 PM
I agree, but the mass media treatment of the subject and the two individuals is more than relevant. It is necessary to notice and highlight the differences in treatment so more folks have a perspective that allows for sensible participation in our Republic.
hillbillyjim on February 9, 2010 at 1:05 PM
Meanwhile. File this under “we’re from the govt and we’re here to help”:
Mr_Magoo on February 9, 2010 at 1:25 PM
Is Beck hosting SNL? Cause that would be great! They give him a script but he writes his own lines instead that would be hilarious!
petunia on February 9, 2010 at 1:27 PM
Aww. You should be nice.My 9th graders don\’t understand subtlety, either. It always goes over their heads, too.And they always change the real story to fit their agenda, hence stupid parents assuming the worst & realizing their kid was full of crap all along.
Badger40 on February 9, 2010 at 1:36 PM
Sarah Palin: 6 words written down. Cost: $3 of her own money.
Barack Obama: 1000′s of words on teleprompter. Cost: $1000′s of taxpayer money.
The stupidity by the MSM: Priceless!
MrX on February 9, 2010 at 3:13 PM
I just saw Breitbarts clips at the Nat’l Tea Party convention. Whoa—he really throws the gauntlet down and beotch slaps the MSM harshly.
Stones.
ted c on February 9, 2010 at 3:27 PM
She is really smart! I like how she was able to anticipate “impromptu” questions from the audience by writing relevant crib notes on her palm. /sarcasm
Palin is a magnet for morons! Which is why her appearence at the tea party was so well received and attended.
Chook on February 9, 2010 at 4:50 PM
Who cares if she makes reminder notes on her hand? If this is the only thing people can find to pick on she must be doing alright!
You go Sarah! Keep giving the Liberal twits hell!

bloviator on February 9, 2010 at 6:45 PM
I’ll have to admit Palin should know better, but this is nothing compared to Maobama. Palin is fighting in the trenches for now and it seems she’s one of the few we’ve got doing so other than Romney and a few Senators.
We need all the help we can get.
scotash on February 10, 2010 at 3:14 AM
Why is Andrea Mitchell still on camera?
She might have been relevant before the MSM met its timely demise.
Now? Not so much.
