Scarborough: Did Chris Wallace roll his eyes at Palin?
posted at 7:48 pm on February 8, 2010 by Allahpundit
Via Breitbart. I’m going to say no just because I always say no when we play these dopey games involving ambiguous physical gestures, but it’s worth a watch on a slow Monday news night. A quote via Newsbusters from earlier in the segment (not seen in the clip):
JOE SCARBOROUGH: You know, Mika, I’ve just got to say this about Sarah Palin. Seriously. I was cheering for her early on as I cheer for anybody who’s new on the scene, Republican or Democratic. And she was bashed, unfairly, by the press early on, before they even knew who she was. But it seems to me that she keeps lowering the bar for herself. Forget the speech [to the Tea Party convention]. Look at the end of Chris Wallace’s interview [on yesterday's Fox News Sunday] where he rolls his eyes, embarrassed. There’s no doubt he is. Now he will deny that. But Chris was sending a message to all his friends: yes I know. She is not a serious thinker.
And then, look at the press conference afterwards [the convention], and then sneak into rooms, be a fly on the wall of top conservatives that will bow and scrape to Sarah Palin publicly, but behind the scenes are angry that she will just not sit down and study issues.
There were no catastrophic gaffes in yesterday’s interview, so either she knew the issues well enough to satisfy Wallace or else Wallace took care not to ask anything of Fox’s newest contributor that might trip her up. Either way, he’s not a man in a position to eye-roll. Possibly relevant, possibly not: A few days before his interview with Sarahcuda, he made a joke about her sitting on his lap for which he was promptly and duly lambasted by Jeri Thompson. A sign that he really doesn’t respect Palin or just an innocent-ish goof gone wrong?

Nice screen shot of Andrea Mitchell demonstrating how “professional” she is. Honestly I’m waiting for the day when she runs to an MSNBC camera to declare that she successfully placed a “kick me” sign on Palin’s back. Good grief.

Although I don’t think it is a big deal. He was joking. Wallace appears on the Mike Gallagher show frequently he jokes all the time. However, she is a national political figure and I don’t like seeing men sexualize her. If we want people to take her seriously, jokes like this don’t work.

Ah Joe Scarborough MSNBC’s Pet conservative parrot, squawking out the talking points that he has been trained to say over and over again. Besides someone needs to remind Joe that just because you call yourself a conservative it doesn’t actually mean that you are one.

Scarborough is MSNBC’s Republican token who sold out for an Upper Westside of Manhattan address and a pat on the head from the media and the DC elite.
The guy spends most of his time attacking Republicans and conservatives.
I really am getting the impression that Scarborough is setting himself up for an independent run for President.

Scarborough sure does talk a lot about Palin. I sense jealousy.
cubachi on February 8, 2010 at 8:08 PM
Palin had a very solid interview with Wallace. Unambiguously and without double standard. She did well.
Sure, are there small details of her presentation that I’d like to see change or improve. Of course, but then there literally is no politician alive who meets with anything approaching 100% approval.
Palin’s demonstrating growth and improvement. Even if you’re a Palin-hater, you’d have to be blind and dumb to not notice it. That fact scares the hell out of potential 2012 opponents.

You can’t win on a Palin thread- no matter what you say, if it isn’t a glowing review of Sarah, you get called an idiot troll. And having said that, I will repeat what got me called that ealier today on the identical thread- She didn’t do herself any favors in that interview. Sarah Palin has so much potential, but please! Get some help with the speaking and interviewing! And yes, as much as I love Rush- she should have at least brushed him up against the bus. The way she handled it sounded hypocritical.

A lightweight celebrity in a heavyweight fight.
The big difference being Obama gets media worship, and Palin gets media hate like no one I have ever seen.

No, that eye-roll was definitely one of ecstasy, not exasperation. He had a tingle going up his leg, no mistake. And as we all know, there ain’t nothing wrong with that, certainly not on MSBC. It’s just that on Fox, they wouldn’t admit to it.

I missed what Sammon said KH. It caught my attention as O ratcheted the volume up on Jim VandeHei. My quess is Sammon wrote or said something critical about the MSM and politco on how they percieve the Tea Partys in general—90% negative.
Rovin on February 8, 2010 at 8:25 PM
Exactly. Joe’s mantra is she won’t take the time to learn BLAH BLAH BLAH. What exactly does he want her to do…Take a test? She has certainly proven she can hold her own in these interviews. They say she didn’t have real solutions, just ideas. These are not the forums for such a discussion. The speech and even the talk with Wallace did what it was suppose to do. What did you want her to do, pull out charts and graphs? Give a lecture like the Law Professor? That would make her exactly what she is not. Exit questions: when is it that she has proven herself? And who the hell made Joe Suck up Scarborough the judge of that?
Dan Pet on February 8, 2010 at 8:26 PM
Cheese Louise! I do NOT see an, “Eye roll,” at all. I’ve seen Chris give that same look to Juan, Britt, Maura, Bill…etal!
He raised his eyebrows, expressively, as he is want to do. No, I don’t have a link, but that is because I am technologically challenged. I bet some of our more astute Hotairians could find one.
Regarding the questions, I think they were fair, I think they were tough…not brutal…but tough. They had to be. Nobody, not even the MSM is saying this was a softball interview. I think she acquitted herself beautifully.
Chewy the Lab on February 8, 2010 at 8:28 PM
Difference being, the Republicans, at times, seem to be more anti-Palin than the progressives. The liberal progressives, at least, want Palin to run in 2012.

Palin should have an interview with Andrea Mitchell where she tells Mitchell to “talk to the hand”—-followed by sweet knuckle sandwitch on Mitchell’s snozzer.
That would give the NOW gang and PETA something to crow about.
Rovin on February 8, 2010 at 8:29 PM

I saw the Palin/Wallace interview and thought Palin hit it out of the park. Wallace doesn’t seem to like her all that much…based on past comments…I’m sure she is aware of it…so what I saw was Palin taking command and not letting Wallace cut her off when she was making her points… But the thing is that in this interview she was great and she spoke in a way that Americans can see is genuine and selfless…

They are afraid, very , very afraid. The Palin bashing is like the Reagan bashing but the joke is on them. Allah parrots the MSM line again.
I mean – the woman killed Joe Biden in a debate – yet the MSM gave him the “win” because he convincingly regurgitated inaccurate facts and told lies. It’s as if style over substance or accuracy is more important.
That’s not the way it is out here in the real America Allah. You don’t get points for lies.
Sarah Palin did a great job with Wallace yesterday because she knows her stuff – and it’s not the first time she’s demonstrated that she knows her stuff.
My theory is that some men – who may not be that familiar with women – will always have a problem with Palin because she intimidates them. I mean – come on here.
HondaV65 on February 8, 2010 at 9:20 PM
I thought she did really well, too, and I was happy she took control of the discussion. She made sure she got her answers in and when challenged, she defended herself admirably.
The harpies on The View talked about her for a full five minutes this morning. Of course it started with Palmgate and then went on to talk about her interview with Wallace. Baba WaWa seemed miffed that Palin would say on his program that she would consider running for president; she was indignant because she only just interviewed her six weeks ago and she was coy and noncommittal with her. The egos of these people know no bounds. They also chided her for using notes while claiming she has criticized Dr. Utopia for having a TelePrompTer addiction. I know we all make fun of it, but I don’t know whether I’ve heard her do it. Maybe she has, but the point is, there’s a difference between jotting down a few bullet points and reading an entire speech off of a prompter. I don’t know if these leftists are really this stupid or if they are being deliberately obtuse.
The best part was, that cow Meghan McCain was sitting in (Joyless and Elisabeth were off today) and she did not utter one single word in defense of Sarah. Not that we would expect her to, since anyone who knows anything about MeggieMac knows she’s got her claws out for the governor, but when they were all finished bashing her, Whoopi says to her, “It’s always so great to have you here, you are a great guest host.” Of course she is! She sits there and lets you rake the leaders of her own party over the coals! Does the cow even know that Whoopi asked her father when he was on during the campaign why he wanted to send her back to the plantations? Anyone with even an ounce of loyalty in their body wouldn’t set foot on that show, but MeggieMac is all about being the next Paris Hilton: Famous for doing nothing but going to clubs and having a well-known last name.
NoLeftTurn on February 8, 2010 at 9:20 PM
Uncomfortable with Palins prominence? That’s a leftists wet dream. The great unwashed masses love her especially when she is expertly and thoroughly bashing Obama and the Dems. They don’t give 2 cents for the negative opinions of the medias talking head or for those beltway politicians that envy Palin her popularity. Sure she’s not perfect but most of the people don’t give a rats ass.
