QOTD was the whole thing…

MeatHeadinCA on February 6, 2010 at 10:36 PM

I love this woman!

TXMomof3 on February 6, 2010 at 10:37 PM

i thought she was great. She’s not running for president, she’s not starting a third party. Libs need to just shut up and deal with the fact that Sarah is a Conservative celebrity with lot of power right now.

cannonball on February 6, 2010 at 10:37 PM

Awesome speech and loved the Q&A as well. What a beautiful, smart, tough, confident woman and she does a better job of puncturing Obama’s inflated messianic image than anyone else in politics. No wonder she makes liberal heads explode.

rsrobinson on February 6, 2010 at 10:38 PM

I wonder how long it will be before we start seeing T-Shirts and bumpers stickers with that on it.

I am a Tea Partier but I really don’t know what that means anymore. It’s barry’s worst nightmare; that’s all I can say.

Sarah is just the best person for the job. 2012 can’t come fast enough.

tim c on February 6, 2010 at 10:40 PM

I am sick and tired of pundits on TV confusing the Tea Party grassroots movement with a Tea Party political party.

They’re hoping if they say it enough times that everyone will believe that it is a third party.

Oink on February 6, 2010 at 10:41 PM

Noticing a familiar pattern among the early leftists’ reactions; all messenger-slamming and no rebuttal.

The libtards have even less useful solutions than the “party of no.” What irony!

Dark-Star on February 6, 2010 at 10:41 PM

She doesn’t want to run for President, and who can blame her?

She doesn’t need a title or position to make a difference! She will do fine in whatever she does.

newton on February 6, 2010 at 10:41 PM

Palin really drove home the point that she commands a large megaphone and has a natural ability to use it effectively. In addition to that, she hits hard and isn’t shy about doing so. Most of all, Palin is very much in tune with the core values of the Tea Party movement.

neurosculptor on February 6, 2010 at 10:41 PM

Wonderful and strong speech. I think this is the start of her presidential campaign. There is no doubt she is running for president, and I will support her if she does.

cubachi on February 6, 2010 at 10:41 PM

i thought she was great. She’s not running for president, she’s not starting a third party. Libs need to just shut up and deal with the fact that Sarah is a Conservative celebrity with lot of power right now.

cannonball on February 6, 2010 at 10:37 PM

Conservative celebrity, fine by me. She can be the right’s answer to Oprah if she wants, so long as she stays away from the levers of power. If Bush taught us anything, its that being a simpleton or folksy just for the hell of being so is not a working governing philosophy. “Getting government out of the way” is as vague a platitude as “Hope and Change”. So long as she leaves the actual governing to people with a little more of a mind for policy rather than communications (her specialty, remember), republicans have a fair shot at 2012. Y’all have to pick the best candidate possible, and the economy must still be in the dumps…but its doable.

ernesto on February 6, 2010 at 10:41 PM

She’s just an attention whore! This teeny-tiny little country needs real RINO’s to face off against our butt buddies across the aisle this fall!

CurtZHP on February 6, 2010 at 10:41 PM

Another home run by Sarah.

Remember all the hand wringing; “Oh No, Palin shouldn’t speak at the convention”, “a dumb move”, “they charge too much”, “other speakers dropped out”, etc, etc, etc.

She stood by her guns and held a magnificent speech that was televised live on EVERY news network, of which pundits afterwards crowned her the undisputed champion of the Tea Party movement. Which by the way has better poll numbers than the both the GOP and the Dems.

Lesson: Never doubt Sarahcuda’s political instincts. This woman is brilliant.

Norwegian on February 6, 2010 at 10:41 PM

But Sarah, when the commercial organization you are supporting lies about its tax-exempt status to get paypal donations, something’s wrong. You didn’t weigh this thing enough. Most of those people paying $549 are there for you.

unclesmrgol on February 6, 2010 at 10:42 PM

The beauty of this whole thing is that the Tea Partiers have no leader; nor do we need one. SP pointed this out.

No fighting over the leader, OK people. It is grass roots ALL THE WAY to VICTORY.

I really, really wish she hadn’t endorsed Rand Paul. I hope she stays at arm’s length from him from now on….the Paultards are very vocal and active, but they are thankfully a small fragment of the GOP right now. I hope Palin doesn’t help them to gain more supporters.

Dark-Star on February 6, 2010 at 10:47 PM

“President Palin” was trending #1 on Twitter for a good period of time during her speech / Q&A.

Enoxo on February 6, 2010 at 10:47 PM

The ironic thing is that resigning as the governor of Alaska has actually made her more powerful. She’s now free to go where she wants and say what she wants without being limited by the constraints of her office. As a result even her Facebook messages now command national attention and she probably has the second largest bully pulpit in the country after Obama. She now serves as both the de facto opposition leader and is now the face of the tea party movement.

“How’s that hopey changey thing working out for you?”

Not to rain on anyone’s parade here, but I do believe, IIRC, that Mark Steyn was the one who coined that particular version of that phrase. Rush Limbaugh started saying “How’s that hope and change working out for you….” about a year ago, and Mark Steyn changed it to the “hopey-changey” thing version during one of the times he subbed for Rush on his radio program. That was months ago.

But from comments Rush has made lately about being in touch with Sarah and/or her staff, I would gather that it’s something that Sarah would have checked out beforehand so that she could incorporate it into her speeches.

Sarah was pretty adament tonight in her speech that, if necessary, she would get in the middle of primaries.

I think she drew “first blood” with the Paul endorsement. Let the games begin!

Who would have thought that conservatism would rise up from the ashes and become the force it is today. Sarah has been a part, but so has every patriotic American who has made signs and carried flags and taken it to the streets! Thank you, Tea Party Patriots. Thank you. I understand I’m being a little facetious in the phrasing there, but remember this is how you will be portrayed come election time…so who do you have that can sell that bill of materials to a public that, while more center-right, is not massively behind the GOP mindset on those issues?

ernesto on February 6, 2010 at 10:53 PM

It’s a small thing, I know, but I wish she had said “a law school lecturer” instead of “a professor of law.” Barry was never a professor, has never published in a law journal, never undergone the rigors of academic tenure review, and is not considered a legal expert by anyone, anywhere. His title at the University of Chicago was “senior lecturer.” Calling him a professor, even derisively, continues the fictitious life story he has so carefully crafted.
