***
The Sarah'Cuda did a good job--not many pauses, hit the most important issues, and had positive suggestions for improvements. Common sense, direct, funny at times. Her voice is not very inspiring--but the message and delivery are good. She seems consistent in what she believes and in what she says--unlike many "professional" politicians.
***
I would like to see her in a 40 minute debate with Comrade Obama (PBUH), VP Joe Biden, or Hillary Clinton. But they would be stupid to expose themselves to any Sarah Palin "sniper shots" from the woods. They do a lot better with Andrea Mitchell and Left Wing Media "reporters" like Chris "leg tingle" Matthews and his ilk.

Wow. Fresh from giving a big hand up to Backdoor John McCain, she's going to come give the rubes something to believe in.
I thought the tea party movement was supposed to be a reaction to being ignored by the party elites; so, Palin is the tea party darling, despite her support of the one of the ultimate Washington insiders, Backdoor John McCain. Color me confused, I guess. I don't expect to agree with her on everything, but supporting one of the tumors of the GOP, someone that cheerfully f*cked his party for his own self aggrandizement, is a bit more than I'm willing to accept. Giving McCain 6 more years is basically handing Obama the GOP support he'll want for amnesty; and Palin is doing her best to make that happen. And all this gushing over her is frankly sickening.
Guess the tea party movement has discovered what the rest of Washington has; tell the rubes what they want to hear; take their money, take their vote, then give them finger and do what you want to do until election time. Rinse, repeat.

It would be nice to see the adults running this country once again.

But, I don't think there are enough of those to go around anymore.

As more people lose their jobs and businesses, they're learning first hand the value of food stamps, unemployment and how much it sucks not to have health care. They're awfully glad those safety nets that they do have were in place...they never dreamed they would need them.

Conservatism and capitalism are going to become increasingly hard sells.

Guessing that was the plan.

Knowing the usual speaking fees of folks like her and after all the publicity and the strength of her performance I think there's one thing everyone can agree on:

That was an extremely well-spent hundred grand.

Well It did not take long for the Huff Pos and the Daily Kooks to bring out their knives. They are now saying she used the "Double Standard" with Rush. Judging on their response I would say she gave a pretty good speech.

I wish all of the good HA people could have been there. It was a remarkable experience. The rwb family feels extremely blessed to have been witness to this unique moment in America. Like Fallon, we are still on a high. We only attended last night, but it was something special. Very special.

I just got back from Nashville after attending the convention. So many great people and great presentations! I brought my laptop but didn't turn it on the entire time I was there. There were just too many people with whom to meet and exchange ideas and contact info.

Andrew Breitbart was amazing and Sarah Palin was worth the price of the conference. My husband and I are still on a high from all the fun but Monday, we will begin to organize our own local tea party. It's so nice to know that we are not alone.

What's wrong with simply being an American, and proud of it? America has been the most powerful force of human freedom the world has ever seen, but yet we have a media and a political establishment that is consistently apologizing for our greatness. Enough of this already! I feel a since of hope and pride I haven't felt for some time. The Tea Party Movement has brought back my faith in the American people. A movement with no single leader, no lobbyist, no powerful unions, no media brainwash... I'm proud of Sarah Palin for standing up to the machine while putting her entire family at risk. I stand with the Tea Party Movement. Democrats and Republicans are on national notice; we stand by the American Constitution and our Bill of Rights. Those of you who have violated our Constitution will be brought to justice. Those of you who have voted for Socialism and the destruction of the American way of life, will be sent packing. Those of you who have stuffed your pockets with tax payer dollars, and dollars stuffed into your wallets by way of buying your votes; to you we say your report card is all the evidence we need to know of what you have been doing while supposedly representing us. Your report card is your voting record. Soon your voting record will be made available to every American. Democrat or Republican, we will review your voting record very closely, as we can no longer trust your words. Have you cast your votes for freedom and liberty for all Americans, or have cast your votes for Socialism and the destruction of capitalism and free markets. A wave of truth is coming by way of Americans taking their own personal time to fight to preserve our way of life.

Can I just remind everyone of another great speech given in the cause of freedom, this one from P.J. O'Rourke at the Cato Institute in 1993.

http://theology.meetup.com/1/boards/thread/7907930/

This is because we believe in freedom. Freedom-what this country was established upon, what the Constitution was written to defend, what the Civil War was fought to perfect.

Freedom is not empowerment. Empowerment is what the Serbs have in Bosnia. Anybody can grab a gun and be empowered. It's not entitlement. An entitlement is what people on welfare get, and how free are they? It's not an endlessly expanding list of rights-the "right" to education, the "right" to health care, the "right" to food and housing. That's not freedom, that's dependency. Those aren't rights, those are the rations of slavery- hay and a barn for human cattle.

There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences.

So we are here tonight in a kind of anti-matter protest-an unpolitical undemonstration by deeply uncommitted inactivists. We are part of a huge invisible picket line that circles the White House twenty-four hours a day. We are participants in an enormous non-march on Washington-millions and millions of Americans not descending upon the nation's capital in order to demand nothing from the United States government. To demand
nothing, that is, except the one thing which no government in history has been able to do - leave us alone.

Obama wasn’t castigated for not wearing a flag pin, he was castigated for going out of his way to publicly announce that he was making a deliberate, conscious effort not to wear a flag pin.

No, you are confusing cause and effect. Obama didn't wear the flag pin, Obama got castigated by the conservatives for not wearing the flag pin, Obama doubled down in typical lefty fashion, and got castigated for that too.

Sometimes victory is won by tactical retreat. Obama straightened his lines by wearing a flag pin the next time around.

Our side lays claim to true patriotism. True patriotism includes a reverence for those who fought and died for us, via acknowledgment of our country's patriotic symbols. It's one thing for Mr. Obama, whose feelings in these things are suspect, to forget about it, and quite another for Tea Party Nation to forget about it. Afterward, even a claim that it was unintentional rings hollow in the second case, because we have far lower expectations of patriotism from Obama than we do from Tea Party Nation.

If Obama had claimed instead that he left his flag pin on the dresser at home by mistake, what would we think?
