Doubling down: Second Tim Tebow pro-life ad now set to run during Super Bowl
posted at 7:29 pm on February 5, 2010 by Allahpundit
Alternate headline: “White House Super Bowl party now to feature two awkward moments.”
The evangelical group that bought ad time in the CBS game telecast will announce today that it has bought time in the pregame show to air a second ad four times…
The new ad also features star quarterback Tim Tebow and his mother, Pam. It was filmed in Orlando last month at the same time as the group’s controversial — though yet unseen — in-game ad…
The ad is “an open discussion on the sanctity of human life — not just the issue of abortion,” Daly says. It was made for less than $100,000 with “a bit of humor in it — in fitting with the Super Bowl theme.”…
He coaxed CBS to ease the game’s unwritten ban on advocacy ads. CBS says it’s adjusting to a changing society. “We have for some time moderated our approach to advocacy submissions after it became apparent that our stance did not reflect public sentiment or industry norms,” spokeswoman Shannon Jacobs says.
When I first glanced at the headline, I thought it might be a rebuttal to that dopey Planned Parenthood spot but the fact that it was filmed last month eliminates that. Two questions, then. One: Isn’t running the first spot four times during the 17-hour pre-game show or whatever going to dilute the impact of the second, presumably more important spot during the game? By the time the latter finally rolls, it’ll look so familiar that people might simply turn the channel. Two: Given all the hype and the premium on creativity for SB spots, shouldn’t we expect some company to try to leverage the buzz by running a parody ad? I’m imagining a quarterback scrambling out of the pocket while large, angry feminists try to chase him down for the sack. Don’t let me down, GoDaddy!

They may have an interest but no legal rights. The Tebow’s are talking about the value of life and hoping that it will cause women to choose life over abortion. Great, but convincing the men in the audience won’t make a difference if the mothers don’t agree.

We have no say, and that’s ‘compassion’ as the Left defines it.
Here’s more leftist compassion from a lib who last night claimed to be conservative. He posted this earlier in this thread:
Sure–it’s better to kill the unborn rather than let someone run the risk of stepping up to be a provider, and maybe get it wrong now and again. Yes–compassion in action!
I’ve heard women tell me it’s better to abort a baby than let him/her live on poverty. Ah, yes: I love you so I’m going to kill you so you don’t have to hurt at all. Well, you won’t hurt after the ‘doctor’ gets done tearing your arms and legs off…

First of all, Im an American, of Italian descent, and an Atheist. You dreamt up the whole muslim bit, you ignoramus. I’m a die hard Conservative, who happens to have differing views on how much I care about my pets than you. If you think that my S/N is muslim, maybe you should learn a language other than english. It’s Italian for “Live Free or Die”. I lived In the UAE for 6 months, and learned the hard way (even in a ‘secular’ muslim country) about Islam. I’m a huge fan of the esteemed Dr. Robert Spencer, and Pamela Geller, both of whom I agree with on their stance against Islamic Jihadism. I can handle you referring to me being neutered, by referring to my cat, but calling me a muslim is something I WILL NOT STAND FOR. Learn to rub your 2 brain cells together, and get an F-ing clue, you F-ING RETARD.

No legal rights is not the point. This ad is not just aimed at women. Some day men may make a difference legally in the horrendous baby killing in this country. And Tim Tebow and his Mom will have done us all a service.

Besides, Cyberloser, bragging about running over someone else’s pet will get you ass kicked in the real world. You must love your ability to be cool on the internet and spout lies about people.

pregame show to air a second ad four times
-The pre-game show is not the Super Bowl. You might want to correct the headline.

So men have no skin in the abortion debate
–I have about 12 inches of skin in the game. Not that I’m bragging or anything.

Along with ads celebrating beer consumption, jiggly cheerleaders, and Viyagra stimulation a 30-second spot discussing the impact of pregnancy seems like a good idea. A Trojan commercial might not be a bad idea either.
dedalus on February 5, 2010 at 7:51 PM
–That would be college football. Sorta like “Bust the Trojans and bring on the Seamen” (If you were playing Southern Cal and then Navy).

America is pro-choice, and that won’t change. Ever. Go ahead and try to convince yourselves otherwise, but leave the rest of us out of it.
Someone is wasting a lot of money.

If America was “Pro-Choice” you would shut your trap. The fact that people don’t want “other’s to choose” shows that we are NOT pro-choice.
You say we will never change, if God stepped in and ended the world…it would stop. Be thankful He hasn’t…yet.
Smile, your mom was Pro-Life

Straightening things out in your head is always worth it. And I agree that it’s time for men to get some equal rights.
disa on February 6, 2010 at 10:45 AM
How about, when it involves conception, men share equal RESPONSIBILITY? An aunt once advised me, “Never have sex with a woman you wouldn’t want to marry.” If a man wants the privilege of sharing a woman’s bed, he should be enough of a man to shoulder the consequences. The problem is that boys are no longer encouraged, or even allowed to mature into men.
oldleprechaun on February 6, 2010 at 11:13 AM
Absolutely. Women want it both ways, and that’s just not reasonable. And too many men shrug it off.
It’s part of a larger, more pervasive personal irresponsibility in today’s culture. People too often don’t step up and do what’s right.
Bottom line: “get the job done” and “pay your own way.”

A. Aren’t most Super Bowls filled with provocative ads of one sort or another, some of which are usually “awkward?” I don’t enjoy the ads for lots of what they sell on TV now.
B. It’s a pretty sad indictment of our culture when an ad that presumably encourages people to allow their baby to come to term and be delivered is controversial.
cs89 on February 6, 2010 at 5:40 PM
Allah, what exactly is awkward about loving an unborn baby and wanting it to live? I don’t feel in the least bit awkward when I take that position. Should I?

AP, your writing is stellar. I’m disappointed that you have reverted to redundancies.

I bet they told Scott Brown that too. I bet they said it’s Ted Kennedy’s seat. It’s Massachusetts. Give up.
If the last year has proven anything, it’s that the American people have a strong sniffer for what the left calls “cognitive dissonance”. Our “tolerance” for cognitive dissonance–such as justifying the murder of the unborn–has reached its limit.
Our society kills its young. As people accept that truth, the opposition grows. It will take some doing, but I can see a time when Roe v. Wade is overturned.
