“Bipartisan” White House Super Bowl party to feature … one Republican

posted at 6:11 pm on February 5, 2010 by Allahpundit

That Republican? Joe Cao of Louisiana, who famously became the only Republican to vote yes on ObamaCare. Quoth Byron York: “That will make the White House Super Bowl party precisely as bipartisan as the health care bills, at least so far.”

Here’s the full guest list:

* Members of Congress
* Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-CA)
* Rep. Rick Boucher (D-VA)
* Rep. Joseph Cao (R-LA)
* Rep. Andre Carson (D-IN)
* Rep. Brad Ellsworth (D-IN)
* Rep. Baron Hill (D-IN)
* Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA)
* Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT)

* Cabinet members:
* Secretary Shaun Donovan
* Secretary Arne Duncan
* Attorney General Eric Holder
* Administrator Lisa Jackson
* Secretary Janet Napolitano
* Ambassador Susan Rice
* Secretary Kathleen Sebelius
* Secretary Eric Shinseki
* Secretary Tom Vilsack

Last year there were 75 people there; Gibbs claimed earlier that 40 had been invited this time, including some senators. What happened? Has The One become such a political liability that Republicans — or centrist Democrats — are afraid to even watch the Super Bowl with him? Even his pal Tom Coburn, who calls Obama a wonderful man? Even … Scotty B?

Baron Hill and Boucher are vulnerable in the midterms according to the Cook Report, so if the White House really is a no-go zone, either they missed the memo or they’re bigger fans of O than anyone knew. Exit question: If one of the reasons for holding that Question Time session was to give the GOP a chance to show its bipartisanship, why not have Mike Pence or whoever shoot on over to the White House for pizza?

Blowback

The post-partisan President. What an ass-clown.

I hear Obama is the odds on favorite to win this year’s Super Bowl MVP. Just ask him, he’ll tell you.

Only one Republican on the invite list? Some “post-partisan” thing there, Barry.

Perhaps after his one & only term as POTUS Barry can be a ‘guest lecturer’ @ his alma mater…Occidental College.

Is the NFL goinog to come down on the White House for an unauthorized exhibition of their copyrighted telecast?

Super Bowl party at the Obama White House? Might as well set up a big screen TV in a collapsed septic tank in the middle of Detroit. I’m sure that Mike Pence wants to watch the Colts kick some Aint’s backside in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Anywhere within spitting distance of O’Jug-ears is not it.

Too bad Nelson and Landrieux weren’t invited
