Video: “Too Late to Apologize”

posted at 7:15 pm on February 4, 2010 by Allahpundit

To cleanse the palate, a bit of inspired, surreal, soon-to-be viral silliness from Soomo Publishing aimed at helping college kids better relate to the American Revolution. Can’t find the lyrics anywhere, but no matter; this is all about atmosphere. And, of course, about answering the important question, “What would Timbaland have thought of Bunker Hill?”

A friend sent me this last night with a note saying, “Imagine Glenn Beck’s reaction while watching this.”

Blowback

Very cool video, AP. Thanks for posting this. It should be shown in all the high schools around the country (not that it will).

I thought talking about the American Revolution or secession was forbidden by HotAir – has this policy changed?

Because this video is 100% about those topics.

Founding principles, brothers. We are still the world’s true revolutionaries.

Yeah, well the real story is a whole lot more “atmospheric” – the boredom in our classrooms is the result of the storytellers.

My collie says:

One of my long held suspicions has always been that, in reality, Benjamin Franklin was a wigged-out heavy metal guitarist.

*nods* Yeah. He discovered electricity when he flung his guitar into the audience and it was struck by lightening in mid-flight, ya’ know. (Or somethin’.)

Waaay cool.

I’m sure Glenn Beck will have it front and center on his program tomorrow, complete with a copius amount of tears.

tru2tx on February 4, 2010 at 7:56 PM

Not that I want to take this off topic as this was a great little music vid, but I have to put a plug in for the movie 1776 as it had some good music as well as being entertaining and informative.

There, I did. Back to the regularly scheduled commenting.

Very Good. Speaking of Glenn Beck, this kind of reminds me of his new theme song on his radio show. I love the new music he has.

Colorado Anne on February 4, 2010 at 8:02 PM

Whatever it takes to remind people, particularly the young, where this great nation came from. When you look back on what the founding fathers did over 230 years…it’s freakin’ amazing. Sadly….I don’t think we have a single current-day politician who could hold their own with any of the Founders. Those leaders built a nation…our can’t balance a budget or pass a law that makes sense to anyone. It’s a shame we can’t clone a few just to revitalize the republic.

ScottiesRule on February 4, 2010 at 8:02 PM

The actors grabbing the axes and drum sticks was priceless. Very well done– I want to see the tour!

leftnomore on February 4, 2010 at 8:03 PM

Judging by that video I’d say Ben Franklin has better chops than Huck.

Fantastic! The period of enlightenment from which our Nation was born needs to remain fresh in the minds of its citizens. This helps.

I was expecting something lame, but that was pretty cool.

Spirit of 1776 on February 4, 2010 at 8:15 PM

I don’t know. I’m pretty sure Franklin would have been a bassist.

Fun video.

Slublog on February 4, 2010 at 8:25 PM

I love it, and am sending it to everyone I know. It is funny we are Taxed a hell of a lot more than before the revolution, and I think we have less representation now. How long will this stand?

Congress knows a vast majority does not want their health care plan, but by goodness they will shove it down our thoughts, because they know better. Oh yea it does not apply to them.

We are spending ourselves as a nation to destruction, but the chosen one knows what he is doing. It is all those big bad Banks, Wall street and Oil companies fault.

Teleycoman on February 4, 2010 at 8:27 PM

Well if School House Rock can turn the Preamble to the Constitution into a song, why not?

The world may be ugly, but each must do what he must
Your end is coming tyrants, in a year you will be dust
Now come let our Lady of Justice possess you
In her breathtaking, hair-raising bed
She will tingle your spines
As she captures your hearts and your heads

Thank you Obama.

katy on February 4, 2010 at 8:49 PM

Loved it, it pretty much sums up the Tea Party movement. No matter what they say, what they try to do, how ever they lie to us…..It`s over, we`re not accepting anything D.C. shovels out to us for “our own good.”

Too late Libs, RINOS……Too damn late.

They were wrong we were just sleeping. those that mistake slumper for stupid are not fit to govern.

inspired, surreal, soon-to-be viral silliness

Damn, dude? Why the kill joy attitude — since you don’t seem to like it — why did you bother mentioning it at all?

I think it’s an incredibly imaginative play on a pop song to make a statement in the same vein as the musical movie 1776, to which the video *clearly* alluded with the band’s name on the drum kit, “1776.” So think of this rather as a brilliant snippet updating a brilliant movie, using current pop music to convey the *feeling* behind the American Revolution. Dig deeper, Allahpundit!

EasyEight on February 4, 2010 at 8:51 PM

This song from 1776 always gives me chills. Great movie.

EasyEight on February 4, 2010 at 8:53 PM

Good song, good video, good theme.

It was kind of funny watching somebody playing a real violin over the portion that was obviously played on a keyboard, but I’m not complaining.

And more cowbell is always appreciated.

CarolinaGirl6 on February 4, 2010 at 9:20 PM

From whence have these heralds of inalienable rights found the precious time for the learning of fiddle, drum, and fife?

Upon review, I would hold that the truth is self evident that, as admired as they may be, they also now do greatly impress with use of their creator’s gifts for they make a rousing ditty together as well as they set forth independence and freedom for all. (In addition to setting forth the rosy blush of pale cheek and firm bosom of all women – maidens and matrons alike.)

A toast! May the king curse the day he hears this song and may it echo unceasingly within his empty head.

Rod on February 4, 2010 at 9:21 PM

Figured it out. Got John Adams (horrid hair), Ben Franklin and Sam Adams (with the beer). Since Jefferson was the lead ballader and fiddle player, who was the other guy with the biggest quill pen? John Hancock — the biggest signature on the Declaration.

publiuspen on February 4, 2010 at 9:24 PM
