Ahmadinejad: Iran will deliver a telling blow on February 11
posted at 7:40 am on February 1, 2010 by Cassy Fiano
Considering all the action the UN — action being nothing but UN sanctions and letters saying to stop, pretty please — has taken against Iran, shouldn’t this have been taken care of already? Shockingly, it looks like the all-talk-no-action approach is failing.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the nation will deliver a harsh blow to the “global arrogance” on this year’s anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
“The Islamic Revolution opened a window to liberty for the human race, which was trapped in the dead ends of materialism,” Ahmadinejad said during a cabinet meeting on Sunday.
“If the Islamic Revolution had not occurred, liberalism and Marxism would have crushed all human dignity in their power-seeking and money-grubbing claws. Nothing would have remained of human and spiritual principles,” he added.
Ahmadinejad said that in the three decades of its history, the Islamic Revolution had inspired some great developments in the world.
Can’t say that I’m too surprised, really. France has been tougher on Iran than we have been. Ahmadinejad has been testing us and testing the world, and what have we showed him? We’ve showed him that we’ll negotiate and issue UN sanctions (that won’t be enforced) and send “stern letters” asking him to stop. Under the Obama administration, Iran has become bolder and bolder. They’ve become a bigger threat than ever. So what will Obama’s reaction to this new threat from Ahmadinejad be? Ask him to come to the US for a beer summit so they can work out their differences?
Obama has no understanding of the gravity of this situation, yet he’s our Commander in Chief. He holds the security of our nation in his hands. And when we are getting threatened by Iran over and over and over again, his response has been to basically do nothing each time. He’s got no courage whatsoever, and while Iran might not make us first on their list of countries to attack (I believe that would be Israel), they will attack somewhere and people will be killed that didn’t need to die. It might not necessarily happen on February 11th, but if Obama doesn’t start taking Ahmadinejad seriously and dealing with the situation now, then we’re going to have much bigger problems from Iran than stolen elections.

I have no faith in Obama to handle this.

They’d only attack via proxy, so long as they could maintain deniability. I doubt they’d use their (probably) inevitable nukes except as a bargaining chip. I don’t think even the hawkiest of Republicans would do what is necessary to prevent an Iranian nuke, so careful with the no courage talk.. it cuts both ways.

Yes indeed Obama . . . the old “let’s tell everybody what kind of dirtbags we are and try not to make them mad at us” policy really is working well.

Really? Did he expound any further on that… like giving just one example? Islam has developed nothing but fear, hatred and death. At least the Free World still has the Israeli Air Force primed and ready to wipe these neanderthals back to the stone age. That’s not a cut-down on the US Air Force… they’re just stuck on the ground without a competent Commander in Chief.

This is provocation. It is an effort to instigate Obama or Israel to undertake some action so Ahmedinejad can claim victimhood and rile up the masses.
Watch.
It’s a classic Islamic ploy.

The “global arrogance” usually refers to the United States, not Israel.
I hope they succeed in hitting us. Not that I want to see dead Americans, but knowing that they won’t be the first Americans to have died for our freedom nor will they be the last. Iran hitting us hard will wake us up, just as 9/11 did. Øbama may actually do something that only a Democrat can do: use the nukes. However, regardless of what he does, he and his closet Socialist party are history and that by itself will have been worth it.
Kafir on February 1, 2010 at 7:53 AM
As to why nothing is getting done, or why we are keeping an arm’s length from these negotiations, it’s because we know nothing significant can be done without Russia and China. We’re saving face from this inevitable diplomatic failure. And no president will wage another pre-emptive war against a much tougher Middle-eastern country.
Either Russia and China get on board, or Israel will light that powder keg.

Odamna spent many of his formative years living outside the United States, thus he really has no firm grasp on the true nature of this country. His understanding of the Constitution is equally flawed because whatever studies he undertook (and we can’t really know because he has refused to release any transcripts)were guided by “progressive” writers and politicians who view the Constitution as a “living” document subject to interpretation depending upon circumstances. He recently demonstrated his lack of knowledge in his SOTU speech by erroneously castigating SCOTUS. He has no military background nor understanding of how or why the military is vital to our interests. He has insulted our friends around the world–specifically, Israel. And he has been contritely apologetic for the elevated status achieved by the constitutional republic that is The United States. So why would anyone think he would do the right thing when confronted by a unhinged despot from Iran?

Remember that our own “wise leader,” ObaMao has told us not to worry, that Iran is just “a tiny country.”
I was wondering about the significance of that February 11 date. I knew that it was too early for the p*ssy-in-the-well to emerge. (The mullahs follow the Mayan calendar, after all.) Most Islamic threats are related to some type of anniversary date in their history of destruction. Rather superstitious, isn’t it?
Maybe ObaMao hasn’t explained to Ahmadaboutjihad that Valentine’s Day occurs several days later, and that ObaMao will send a sweetheart missive of sternly worded tough love if the Iranian crackpot will just be patient. Oh, that’s right. Fervent Muslims deplore such symbols of Christian love. What a dilemma!
An invitation to an Independence Day halal weenie roast is just too far off into the future to satisfy either ObaMao or A-jad, I guess.
onlineanalyst on February 1, 2010 at 8:08 AM
In Obama’s hands our security rests. Well not exactly, but a basketball and golf club have found a nice resting place.
I doubt either party has the fortitude to take military action however, the Iranian people wanted their freedom and our illustrious leader spit in their face just so he could arrogantly attempt diplomatic measures that all said would in fact fail.
His name will go down in history, just not what he envisioned.

OK, stupid question alert here: but why the hard date (2/11)? Unless it is to test a nuke or some such, seems pretty ballsy to inform everyone when you’ll do it. Must be serious though as military resources are racing to the area.

Obammy will have great ideas on what to do… hours/days/weeks after it already too late.
rockbend on February 1, 2010 at 8:29 AM
This means what it says or what Iran will do to correct the problem as they see it.
Iran’s goal is to bring everyone to Paradise, thus ending materialism, liberalism and Marxism. Or to translate for the blind and deaf: Iran plans to do as much as it can to start a global nuclear war with the outcome of ending the rein human species on Earth and beginning its rein in Paradise.
And yes these guys running Iran are crazy, but crazy with nuclear weapons — and they are deadly sincere. They really believe that killing us – you, me – is to do us a favor, to save us from the sins we would commit and cleanse us of the sins we did commit.
Will they use them on the 11th? Probably not. But August is a different matter.

Well, I don’t have much confidence in Mr. President, either…but I do have confidence in our military leaders and I’m pretty sure they know what they’re doing and have developed strategies to deal with threats from Iran. While Mr. President may like to try a diplomatic approach, the military likes to show we are a potent force to be dealt with. And I’m guessing the little miscreant in Iran will rue the day that he messes with the US or Israel or any of our allies for that matter.

Do you care to actually put a timeline on this prediction? Do you realize how long it’s been since Iran has invaded another country? Do you think that the current regime has internal support to wage war with Israel?
You complain that Obama lacks courage, but you’re not specific about what someone with “courage” would do. Nuke first, ask questions later? It’s very easy to just call Obama names. If you want to be taken seriously, perhaps put forth a realistic scenario that Obama should undertake.
You want Obama to ‘take action‘, to ‘do something‘, to ‘start taking Ahmadinejad seriously‘ and to ‘deal with the situation now‘. What do any of these things actually mean? Be specific. What would you do if you were the president?
If you’re not willing to spell out what you think should be done, then I’m not sure you’re in any place to comment on whether someone else lacks courage.

Who is Iran’s primary military target?
Everyone, almost reflexively, says Israel. But is this true?
Israel is no larger than New Jersey. If Iran wants to destroy Israel it would not take many nuclear bombs to do so.
Why is Iran embarking on its path only to get a handful of nukes which they will then immediately use on Israel?
Jerusalem is Islam’s 3rd Holiest city. In Islamic eschatology, the coming Mahdi (Shia Islam’s 12th imam) will establish Jerusalem as the capital of the worldwide Caliphate.
Would the Govt of the Islamic republic nuke the future capital of their future leader’s empire?
Does Iran call Israel the Great Satan. No. The United States is the Great Satan.
Iran will only have one chance to use nuclear weapons against its target. It knows will face retaliation and so it must choose this target wisely.
Is Nuclear Suicide worth the price of destroying the Great Satan.. the main obstacle to a Global Caliphate?
or is Iran going to destroy itself just to destroy Israel… leaving the United States in power to keep Sharia law from gaining global predominance?
I believe the United States is the nuclear target of Iran. Israel is just misdirection
