Confirmed: Obama to call for repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell” tonight

As I said on Monday when I wrote about this, the politics of it are a no-brainer. And getting to be more so every day: If you believe Michael Barone, the Dems are now staring not at a 1994 wave but possibly a 1974 wave, when congressional Republicans were obliterated by the deep blue tide that washed in after Watergate. If they don’t repeal this soon, they may not have the votes to try again for a long time.

Even if you disagree with rescinding the policy, take comfort in knowing that the roll call in the House and Senate will be pure fun to watch. I’m sure they’ll have some bipartisan support for doing it; the question is how much — and how many skittish Blue Dog “no” votes will have to be replaced. Exit question one: Is The One going to demand any deadline for doing this or will it be another of his “no, really, soon” promises? Exit question two: John Shalikashvili already weighed in on Obama’s side earlier today. Can Colin Powell be far behind?

And, no one forget this —– when the chips are down those frontline marines with their absurd rituals will be the first ones to step in a save your bacon. You want security? Providing it isn’t pretty. You want to win? The guys at the front, clawing their way though a H2H, don’t give a flying crap what your social sensitivities are. Warriors face the most horrifying realities you can imagine. Somebody’s sexual prediliction just doesn’t compare to the combat experience. You’re gay? Shoot that MF’er and shut the eff up about it. We don’t want to effing know – no more than we want to know how much you miss Sally. Boo effing hoo.

I know plenty of chunks who could run, do push-ups/set-ups,carry their own weight but were forced out because their waist was too big.

hmmm… ever wonder actually how some overweight guys (and it isn’t a few :) in the Air Force at least, pass the PT tests??? :-) …my husband has two or three chubby colleagues in his unit (and I mean CHUBBY! :-) who can’t put the reflective belt around their waste when they go out to the flight line :-) why? coz they do not extend enough to go around their (flat they are not) bellies :) so the jokes go at least :-)…he keeps wondering (both seriously and humorously) how on earth those guys passed the PT test…well, go figure :-) the truth is they spend too much on the tech training of these guys in the Air Force to let them out/discharge coz they are ‘chubby’ or ‘not fit’ :-) or on any other such ‘frivolous’ grounds :-) you gotta keep your sense of humour about it too :-)

Obama is doing everything in his power to destroy the country and its institutions. He must believe this will create additional dissent and turmoil which will speed the process. Get ready for the end of this once great Republic.
