Quotes of the day
posted at 10:35 pm on January 26, 2010 by Allahpundit
“The president’s core problem is this: what persuadable Republicans want from him is the direct opposite of what his most fervent supporters want. The persuadables want Clinton-style economics; the fervents want share-the-wealth. The persuadables want health-care reforms that protect their medicine and hold the line on costs; the fervents want more generous coverage for the excluded, at the expense of those now getting a good deal. The persuadables want unity and conciliation; the fervents want sharp contrasts.
“When confronted with contradictions like these, the greatest Democrat of them all, Franklin Roosevelt, would airily instruct his aides: ‘Weave them both together.’ Somehow he did it too.
“Could Obama do the same? Well, maybe. To do so he would have to jettison the scapegoat hunting of his recent speeches and rediscover the unity themes of his great 2004 address to the Democratic National Convention. He’d have to remember that he’s not the president of the liberals, but of everybody—and that his job is not to identify substitute targets for blame, but solutions to the problems that beset the country as a whole.”

“If Scott Brown has kept President Obama up at night, there could be more sleepless nights at the White House thanks to a new poll that ranks the senator-elect as presidential timber…
“The online news site, newsmax.com, reported that Obama leads Brown by 46.5 percent to 44.6 percent among the 4,163 respondents in a poll with a plus or minus 1.5 percent margin of error. Independent voters, who helped propel Obama into office in 2008, favor Brown 48.6 percent to 36 percent.
“Former Bush strategist Mark McKinnon told Newsmax, ‘The real problem for Obama is that he has lost the middle, and losing the middle means losing independents . . . if you lose independents, you’re going to lose the presidency.’”

Apparently Barry’s fighting for the common folks by spending his time watching reality t.v. shows like Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
I don’t know about you, but when I saw the video clip of the president congratulating that Kardashian chick on her “great” show, I knew I could sleep well — the country’s in the very best of hands.\\

On my way to the store to get more whiskey for tonight…I’m going to need it if I have to listen to him–much less look at him…

It will be another good night for us at HotAir…eat, drink and repeat “you lie” all night long.

A simpler drinking game is take a shot every time he uses the word “I”. You could conceivably be passed out before the first time he is interrupted by applause.

Obama will be unable to do this. He’s a true believer in “redistributive change” and “spreadin’ the wealth.”
Independents might be inclined “to share” (read “to be taxed”) more if they actually had something. Obama’s doing everything to make sure that they don’t. Oddly enough, his policies kill his golden goose.

Whether it’s political races or sports, Obama is worse than the Sports Illustrated cover jinx.

So who is Archie Manning rooting for?
highhopes on January 27, 2010 at 7:40 AM
Great question. I am sure he will be asked this over and over this next two weeks. FWIW, I would be rooting for my son, and against ogabe.

The American People shall all walk around in a strange trance tomorrow, after Barry Obama was successful in mass hypnotism from his podium and tele-prompter; And everybody seems to be mumbling:

That WOULD be a great question if the Colts played the Giants–Peyton vs. Eli.

Anyone still persuadable by Obama is not a Republican.
Just ask Snarlin’ Arlen.
Then again, there’s Charlie Crist.

Why does Barry look and sound so much like Goofy? Is he trying to imitate a well loved and trusted Disney character for effect?
Cybergeezer on January 27, 2010 at 10:02 AM
I get it. AP is a Frum-whore, breathlessly waiting to repeat his latest foul utterance.
What I don’t get is how he can still think this steaming pile has any credibility left.
Or is it just a goof, designed to irritate and entice gullible Cons like me into responding?
Perhaps the latter, but I’m sticking with him being a Frum-whore. It’s more fun.
