Obama: I will continue to fight for you by trying to pass a bill you despise

posted at 3:41 pm on January 22, 2010 by Allahpundit

Tragicomedy from today’s “permanent campaign” stop in Ohio: “This is not about me!” saith The One, before launching into the salute to his own political fortitude that you’re about to see. Which, in fairness, is all he has left. No one likes the bill, it’s killing him with independents, but he’s invested too much political capital in it to end up with absolutely nothing. So he’ll end up with a hugely pared-down bill, a.k.a. almost absolutely nothing, and then tout it as some grand accomplishment that he’ll build on later even though everyone knows that he won’t. Remember, the goal, practically from day one, was simply to pass something, and that’s exactly what they’re going to get. “Something.”

Opposition to O-Care is back up to 58 percent in today’s Rasmussen tracker, incidentally, which ties the mark for the highest disapproval rating yet. Stay tuned for the numbers next week after the Dems launch their bold new plan to nuke Scott Brown’s vote by going with reconciliation. Click the image to watch.

From the sounds of the layoffs being mentioned it looks like we may be entering the early stage of the second dip of this recession/depression.

Leave the banks alone, the Dow is down again today.

“I’ll never stop fighting to bring jobs back to Elyria”

There’s a large religious shrine in Elyria called Holy Love, where some people believe that Jesus and His mother have appeared.

The way Obama is going, he will create jobs in Elyria, for all those PRAYING that Obama will just leave them alone!

I’m sorry about the job loss, but the private banks did some stinky, stinky stuff with the right to make those loans.

I remain convinced that the old student loan programs were far better.

Democratic Sen. Chris Dodd said today that Democrats may need to take more than a month off from the health care debate to regroup, saying it is up to President Obama to lead the way.

So, I’ve invited the entire Democrat caucus of the Senate and the House over to my cabin in Ireland for a weeklong retreat. We’ll eat some taters, swill some Guiness, hump a few sheep and just basically unwind.

I’m in South Carolina in the northern part. We have had chronically high unemployment because the textile industry which was our mainstay has been dying for years.

No one is asking for a hand out. They just want jobs.

Your folks will be in my prayers. We need a leader not this punk a$$hat.

Same old rhetoric. And he should wear a tie when he goes to speak to Americans about how sincere he is about creating jobs or fixing health care. And yes it is about you, it’s about your epic failure during the first year of your term to accomplish anything more than getting us trillions of dollars deeper in debt. You got gobsmacked in MA and now you’re trying to shore up your support (campaign). Go back home and put your nose to the grindstone.

I always thought that both Bush and Obama were scared out of their wits by the reality, much of which we have been spared from knowing.

It’s definitely not a recession. We’re in a depression. And those bills simply helped the impact level not be so severe so rapidly.

This is what keeps me worried and awake at night. People are really suffering out here, people who ask for nothing other than gainful employment. They’re not the people who are going to riot, but the situation in some of the large cities is frightening. I don’t really see how things will improve quickly enough to prevent civil unrest in some areas.

This administration has no interest in preventing it. If they did, their focus would have been on the economy from Day One. Instead they’ve been haggling about health care. BO’s ideology prevents him from understanding the risks. In fact, I don’t think he will mind a few scuffles. Unfortunately, he doesn’t understand the magnitude of what might happen.

I agree the large cities are powder kegs. They are dependent upon everything being delivered too them. If any disruptions occur watch out. As more people loose jobs and the revenue to the government continues to tank then the only solution will be some form of inflation so they (government) can keep printing money. This money will buy less and less and the powder keg will explode. If the 2nd dip of this recession takes hold I’m not optimistic we can avoid the explosion.

I disagree that any authentic good came from voting for a man just because of his skin color. How is that any different than if one had voted for McCain just because he looked like a presidential type? I’d much rather have waited another 8-12 years for Allen West to claim the title of first black president and have it mean something positive for the black community and for America as a nation. I’m not so sure. The Democrats would like to push that sort of paranoia on the suburban communities. But if the inner city isn’t up in arms over their current situation, I doubt they’ll suddenly find the motivation to riot or protest.

For an example, look to Detroit. That city has been utterly destroyed by the Democrats. And yet, people stay there, with no hope of a job, awful housing prices, oppressive taxation and regulation, and bonecrushing poverty. Do they protest? Nope. They just ask more loudly for the money.

Anybody noticed?

gullxn on January 22, 2010 at 5:48 PM

WE’d do a hell of alot better with an Aggie in the WH………

Obama is toxic. I realize his intent is to destroy, however I don’t think even he realizes the extent to which he has the power to destroy.

ORconservative on January 22, 2010 at 5:50 PM

I will always think that a lot of people really did “check off” white guilt over his election. Now, they aren’t really too interested in him.I think that’s the grossest kind of racism. Just my 2 cents.AnninCA on January 22, 2010 at 4:41 PM

I suspect a sizeable number of O-voters bought into voting for him simply because they’re huge fans of affirmative action irrespective of the candidate’s qualifications. And now, as you say, they’re not too interested in him because, “I did my part.” Many conservatives call that “the soft bigotry of low expectations”, an unintended and pernicious consequence of the affirmative action movement. But affirmative action’s proponents’ “hearts were in the right place.”

Dialect.

OmahaConservative on January 22, 2010 at 5:51 PM

It sounds to me like he is cracking up. Going mad.

He has never been told no.

And like a juvenile delinquent standing before a judge from the first time, he is filled with infantile defiance.

We’ll see how that works for him.

notagool on January 22, 2010 at 5:51 PM

But those people at his speech feels so much better now. They still don’t have a job and are going to lose their houses but they believe he’s going to change all that and they got their hope back. Bwahahahaha! Notice how he slips in and out of the negro dialect. Can’t even carry that through the entire speech.

He’s Will, from “Good Will Hunting”, arguing his case before the judge after he was arrested for brawling and striking an officer; he just knows so much more than the authorities.

ya2daup on January 22, 2010 at 5:56 PM

Yes, because the banks have Main Street’s interests at heart, after all.

Grow Fins on January 22, 2010 at 4:44 PM

They are out to make a profit. Generally that means providing financial services that people want. So they need to make their customers happy…who probably live on ‘Main Street’.

I think you’ve put your finger on it, but just remember who steps into his loafers when the white coats take him away….Yikes!

anniekc on January 22, 2010 at 6:03 PM

For the supposed smartest man in the room, he certainly doesn’t learn from his mistakes. Someone with an ounce of intelligence doesn’t continue down a path that isn’t successful. Smart people learn from their mistakes.

President Barack Ahmadinnerjacket.

IrishEi on January 22, 2010 at 6:09 PM

Something to behold isn’t it…I’m afraid this is not going to end well. He does not get it…will not get it until he and his party are tossed out for good. Then he will go back to the hood where his homeboys will tell him he did all he could and America is too dumb to “get it”.

Anybody have a more likely ending?

winston on January 22, 2010 at 6:13 PM

When Obama came into office one year ago, the unemployment rate in OH was 6.9%. It is now 10.9%, not counting the ones who are no longer looking or have moved on to the social service (welfare) rolls. Youth unnemployment rose to over 50%. He really has a lot of nerve talking about how he will fight for us and help us. I see MORE billions bleeding out of Congress to accomplish nothing.

IrishEi on January 22, 2010 at 6:09 PM

He needs a tan, boxy jacket to pull that look together.

Ever man seated behind him was wearing a necktie. Does Barry think he’s too cool for appropriate attire? Or does he just not respect the voters in Ohio enough to bother anymore? Oh wait…it must be casual Friday.

Now on to the more important news, did anybody see the dog rescue?!

Tony737 on January 22, 2010 at 3:47 PM

HELL YEA!!!! Damn it always happens when humans rescue a dog that is in distress. Seen that stuff before, but that was a German Shepherd, right?

As a dog lover I wish the rascal a great recovery. BTW where the heck are the owners!

ProudPalinFan on January 22, 2010 at 6:26 PM

So he’ll end up with a hugely pared-down bill, a.k.a. almost absolutely nothing, and then tout it as some grand accomplishment that he’ll build on later even though everyone knows that he won’t. Remember, the goal, practically from day one, was simply to pass something, and that’s exactly what they’re going to get. “Something.”

And that’s all they need – a “starter home”. Take it away Harkin:

I know, I know, Allahpundit, I’m just doing more of that crazy Glenn Beck talk… Wait, shouldn’t you be busy trying to find negative Palin poll numbers and then posting about it?

RightWinged on January 22, 2010 at 6:26 PM

There should be an iPhone/iPod app to do an automatic count of the “I” “me” “my” and the most distressing, “As your President of the United States”, and “I am the President of the United States”.

Grow Fins on January 22

Grow fins, why should banks that have already paid back their bailout with interest, be forced to pay back their loans again?

I bought and paid off 2 cars through Ford credit, Ford could use some money right now but they haven’t asked me to “re-pay” for those 2 cars.

Could you please explain your logic that it would be good and right for anyone or any institution to pay twice for anything?

I’m a teacher of young children. Kindergartners are happily self-centered. In first grade, children suddenly realize, “Hey! The teacher says *I* have to follow the rules, but Johnny just hit Sarah and nobody saw it! No fair!”

And then a very childish, angry period sets in, until children learn to deal with the unfairness of life without constant whining and tattling.

Obama got stuck somewhere in the middle of first grade.

Grace_is_sufficient on January 22, 2010 at 6:46 PM

Obama is really thinking:

I will continue to LIE to you simple, simple people. I will continue to work hard at destroying this market based economy, and destroy you raping, pillaging white peoples world…

All the while Mr. Coulda Woulda Shoulda is thinking to himself…dang that white guy Shaw and Helen Keller were right….these people need the gas.

PappyD61 on January 22, 2010 at 6:48 PM

Kinda normal for kids who are given up or abandoned isn’t it?

I can’t figure where the narcissist came from a self protective action to cope with the abandonment coupled with folks always givin him the benefit of the doubt because of his abandonment and skin color (Latyer in life)?

dhunter on January 22, 2010 at 6:51 PM

So, I’ve invited the entire Democrat caucus of the Senate and the House over to my cabin in Ireland for a weeklong retreat. We’ll eat some taters, swill some Guiness, hump a few sheep and just basically unwind.

BobMbx on January 22, 2010 at 4:44 PM

Considering what die hard liberal democrat women reflect in a mirror every day, those congressmen will probably homestead your place and never come back to the US. Thanks for taking one for the team!
