Believe it or not: Chris Matthews destroys Grayson over reconciliation on ObamaCare

posted at 9:11 pm on January 22, 2010 by Allahpundit

I don’t know what to think anymore, guys. First he takes Howard Dean to the cleaners over his lame spin on Massachusetts, now this. Meanwhile, Jack Cafferty’s on CNN inveighing against the Democrats and political correctness seemingly every damned day. What’s next? David Shuster laying into some liberal for calling right-wingers “teabaggers”?

Are we seeing … realignment here?

These people are still flaming liberals, now they’re just flaming liberals who are hopping mad they voted for someone who was too incompetent to push through the flaming liberal agenda. That, and they look foolish now for supporting the incompetent in the first place. Boo hoo hoo. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they try and ram through the health care…just to save face after a year of accomplishing nothing. Nothing but a stinking pile of massive debt to Americans, that is.

scalleywag on January 23, 2010 at 10:21 AM

Matthews thinks his program is about reality? That’s a hoot.

BottomLine5 on January 23, 2010 at 10:18 AM

Give him a little credit. He was trying to introduce a blithering left winger to reality. Only thing is, Chris, of all people, should have known he was wasting his time.

donh525 on January 23, 2010 at 10:24 AM

Are we seeing … realignment here?

My take… mathews would LOVE reconciliation… he would tingle from dusk till dawn… but he realizes that in the current political climate. it would be suicide for the Democrats.

That’s it. Nobody goes from a vitriol hatred of the Right… spewing how evil and dangerous we are… to suddenly respecting the rights of the minority. Tuesday told Chrissy that the Dems better change tack or 2010 will be a political bloodbath.

mankai on January 23, 2010 at 10:36 AM

All good things come to an end. Now, making fun of liberals, will actually take an effort on our part.

We are talking about Chrissy Legtingles, right? Any connection he has to reality is when he stumbles over it in the dark. Not to worry. He will reattach himself to Obama’s zipper in plenty of time for the 2012 campaign.

MATHEWS AND GRAYSON=TWO TARDS…. HOWEVER, IT WAS NICE TO SEE TARD GRAYSON SCHOOLED!!!

“He will reattach himself to Obama’s zipper in plenty of time for the 2012 campaign.”

Your imagery alone is brilliant, SKYFOX, if a bit disturbing. But thanks for the laugh!

Matthews is an old school socialist. But nevertheless, a socialist. Not a centrist. Not a democrat. A socialist that needs the Dem party because socialists have a hard time getting elected in most of the country.

But he understands what all American socialists have known for decades….that the way to achieve their goals is in little INCREMENTS. Not the massive power grab that today’s party went for and is in the midddle of failing at.

Grayson is an absolute idiot. And I don’t use that term lightly. He needs to be schooled (but it won’t do any good, as he is an idiot).

But do not mistake what Matthews is doing as “moderating” of his positions or goals.

He and Grayson have the same objectives. They just disagree with tactics.

Florida this screams LOUD & CLEAR VOTE THIS IDIOT OUT. This is a prfect example that our elected officials haven’t a clue about our country, framers or constitution!

Just ’cause he gets tingles don’t mean he’s dumb.

Actually, I’m a bit surprised with his level of knowledge here. Nicely done.

See? Nobody’s all bad!

ronnyraygun on January 23, 2010 at 12:59 PM

This show is about reality

Right after Grayson says thousands of people are dying every day from the healthcare crisis. But not referring to that howler. No, he’s referring to political reality of moving legislation through.

Sometimes, you just have to shake your head.

There is, or hopefully was, a despicable country-boy prank of tying the tails of two tomcats together and slinging them over the clothesline to watch them rip each other apart…

despicable indeed.

And yet here…

Ah,to be a Democrat, staring into the maw of 2010.

Perhaps some in the media calculate that they must scale back to be more convincing. I see where NYTimes and some others have done so. I don’t buy it.

As media people, they think their job is influencing people, and will triangulate any way they think will work. They are still leftists.

They’re Marxists. Where Marxists cannot control public opinion, they fabricate it.

What district is Grayson from? Does he have a challenger? This man needs to go back to private life he is a minus to society.

I would welcome Matthews back to sanity if he could get himself there! He has been in lala land for years now so I don’t think he can get there. Poor guy. Sold his soul to a phantom… He used to be pretty good.

Speaking of Glenn Beck…. Did you find his show particularly surprising? I did focus on Russian History in college so maybe I just knew how bad the communists were but I didn’t think there were any great revelations in his documentary yesterday. It was sort of a let down.

But maybe the college set, those who wear those Che T-shirts really don’t know who he was. They should watch the History Channel more. Beck left out how incredible looking Che was… which is why I think he is so popular now… not his murderous politics.

petunia on January 23, 2010 at 3:10 PM

I watched this last night with mouth hanging open. Then I turned to the late night shows and listened to numerous jokes made at Obama’s expense.

The honeymoon just officially ended folks. The media rats held off for a year, but they cannot help but to feast on their brother Dems. No honor amoung rats.

petunia on January 23, 2010 at 3:10 PM

wth is THAT garbage. Yeah, Beck’s documentary was clumsy and suffered from trying to cram too much into too short a time, but the rest of “petunia”s post is fraud. The BBC-Discovery-NBC conglom that controls it has turned the History Channel into anything but. It’s reality-TV wasteland now, and what little ‘history’ it features are all LLLib-deconstructionist Edward Herrmann -narrated screw jobs.
And Ernesto Guevara was an ugly mofo. Inside AND out. The only time he looked good was on the slab in Bolivia.

I didn’t find it terribly surprising, but I did find it informative and appreciated the documentation/video/audio evidence. I was surprised by the comments of George Bernard Shaw. Shocking!!! and Horrifying. But yes, I found it definitely worth while and wish it would be shown to all high school and college students.

Che incredible looking…wow…I guess it just goes to prove that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I found him horribly unattractive regardless of the fact that he was a cold blooded monster.

As to Chris Matthews, has his dispute with Rachel Maddow been mentioned? I haven’t checked the rest of the comments.

I was stunned by his statements to her following the election Tuesday night and Maddow was even more so. I looked at my husband and asked him if Hell just froze over. I don’t remember what the group Matthews said his daughter was a part of, concerned youth or something…But he said that she was very worried about the spending and debt we were growing. He seemed sincere and I thought maybe that was what it would take for some of the older socialist folks. He has to look into the eyes of his daughter who (hopefully) has started accusing his kind of robbing her future blind.

Maybe that is waking him up. I pray it is and that it happens to more of them.

To steal a line from one of my favorite movies:
To call Grayson stupid is an insult to stupid people!
How do idiots like this get elected?

conservativecaveman on January 23, 2010 at 9:05 PM

See also the WaPo thread nearby. The Maginot Line of racist ! has been breached.

Barnestormer on January 23, 2010 at 9:12 PM

“It just hit me who Grayson resembles when he speaks…Adam Arkin.”

More like a demon-possessed Robert Klein, for you old-timers.

To paraphrase the inimitable Dr. Samuel Johnson, when a TV news interviewer gets his Aztec handed to him by Joy Behar, it tends to concentrate his mind wonderfully.

morganfrost on January 24, 2010 at 8:29 AM

Chrissy is no less liberal then he has ever been, more likely that he (along with more and more Americans) are learning we elected an empty suit.

What MSNBC has been doing has not been working. Their ratings stink. And the market for crazy commentators on the left is mighty thin.

Their parent can’t keep a sick kid around forever. And the parent has been on life support.

GE would be snuffed on hopeless interest expense without the Gov’t guarantee At the end of 2009, GE had total debts of around $600 billion and paid about a 3% interest on it. The rate would triple without it. So without a massive financial restructuring, or (gulp) bailout, GE is done.

Maybe Chris is hearing footsteps and wants some nice film for his job search.

IlikedAUH2O on January 24, 2010 at 11:04 PM

Chrissy having a Hissy fit. When things are not going his way he does not let others an opportunity to speak and demeans them in a vein attempt to appear superior.

Matthews should just shut up and listen to others before drawing any conclusions of his own. However, that is something akin to “Mission Impossible”.

MSGTAS on January 25, 2010 at 9:36 AM

Does this Grayson jerk look like Olver Stone?

Hilts on January 25, 2010 at 2:52 PM

Yep. Grayson was taken to school by Matthews. What a campaign commercial for somebody who would run against this snake!
