Obamateurism of the Day
posted at 8:05 am on January 20, 2010 by Ed Morrissey
Maybe someone should have clued Barack Obama in to what Martha Coakley was about to say in her speech on Sunday. After Coakley demonized Scott Brown as a lackey of Wall Street who wanted to sell out Massachusetts voters to fat-cat bankers, John at Verum Serum caught Obama warning the crowd about … well …
You know how politics is [sic]. At times like this, there are always those who are eager to exploit that pain and anger to score a few political points. There are always folks who, you know, think that the best way to solve the, these problems is to demonize others. And unfortunately, we’re seeing some of that politics in Massachusetts today.
Yes. In fact, people saw a great example of it twenty minutes earlier, Mr. President. It’s one of the many reasons you lost your supermajority in the Senate and a Republican won for the first time in Massachusetts in 38 years.

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

sheesh on January 20, 2010 at 8:12 AM
I question whether this is an amateurism. I believe this, and other things, are said on purpose. The libs motto, after all, is “Good for me, but not for thee.” Or, as the case may be,”Good for thee, but not for me.” For the second one, the disparity in health care for congress and the Obamanation of a bill they are trying to shove onto the American people, comes to mind.
mwdiver on January 20, 2010 at 8:13 AM
And the Republicans had better get the message as well. They pull the same old garbage they did last decade, 2006 will look like nuffin.

In his victory speech, Scott Brown referred to that as an emergency landing of Air Force One at Logan Airport.
Fact of the matter is that I suspect they knew even then that the election was not going to go well. There was no energy behind the Dems and if you were “Marcia” how would you defend Obamacare to the point that all those people would willingly hire you to kill off their healthcare benefits?
The smartest thing Obama could do right now is let healthcare reform die and move on to the economy. But, there is no certainty that Obama is that bright. He’s a radical progressive that just happens to be President and I’d put even money on the idea that he still intends to bully this bill into existence by one of the underhanded methods that have been talked about this week. The real question is if the Dems in Congress are as stupid and out-of-touch as the filthy lying coward in the White House.
highhopes on January 20, 2010 at 8:33 AM
In order to move a capitalist society forward, you need to have capital, which is put together by bankers. It’s perfectly fine to criticize specific people for their mistakes, but quit demonizing generic “bankers.” That would only make sense if the president didn’t believe in capitalism. Oh, wait. . .

AP should wear the infamous Cone o’ Shame for an hour today. After spending Monday night tweakin’ Hotheads with Palin bashing threads (when he shoulda been jimmying up the bandwidth for Tuesdays barnstormer), he was forced to do a hard pivot and turn off comments during the election returns. Hotheads were forced to watch in vain as the refresh button returned something similar to Barry’s first year—Jack and Squat—when it shoulda been returning some righteous Humpbot. That’s like santa turning off presents on Christmas. Moreover, his Allahpundit Pessimism meter is in need of a recalibration as it is obviously a little off to the left. These key events ought to merit him a simple humble hour in the Cone of Shame.

I guess the model is in for how to win elections. Tell ‘em what’s wrong(chances are that the populace was thinking that, too), tell ‘em how you are going to fix it, and then make sure that people understand that you mean what you say. Simple.
Democrats can’t do that. They have to make up a negative narrative. They can’t tell what’s wrong because they caused it. They can’t tell how to fix it because they don’t want it fixed. Their MO is to throw more money at it or find a convoluted “solution” that never works. They spend way too much time trying to convince you that it didn’t work because they need more time and money and to elect them. It sure doesn’t seem like a winning model.

Brown’s victory was “a shot heard round the world.” The MA Senator-elect is not only a proponent of Amendment X, given his objection to ObamaScare as an unConstitutional mandate but also a champion of fiscal restraint.
Bigger than his campaign against out-of-control spending in Washington is his central platform, according to his team, of national security through strength, not appeasement. The people of MA gave that policy position a thumbs up.
Andy McCarthy explains: http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=ZTAyNjJiMGZmMWU4NGQ2MDZlZjRlNDkyYTE0OGJlNGE=
While the fool in the WH may be celebrating his one-year anniversary of a lollapalooza inauguration, a referendum of a vote of no-confidence in ObaMao and his Dem enablers is a bitter biscuit to break with his morning coffee.
