Matthews: Electing Brown “deliberate, premeditated murder … of health care”

posted at 10:55 am on January 20, 2010 by Ed Morrissey

A singularly classy moment from the same singularly classy network whose “news anchor” smeared the Republican in the race as a homophobe and racist. The screen graphic behind Chris Matthews ironically becomes a truth-in-advertising disclosure statement. The only thing it missed is Matthews’ rhetorical illiteracy:

First, can we quit saying that “health care” got killed? We’ve had health care in this country for as long as we’ve been here. We have the best health-care system in the world, especially in terms of innovation.   Health care continued to get delivered before, during, and after the Massachusetts election yesterday.  What may have gotten stopped by Brown’s election is the imposition of massive government control over the insurance system that pays for health care.  The “health care” construct is lazy and inaccurate, two reasons why Chris Matthews uses it incessantly on a network that rewards laziness and inaccuracy, as Keith Olbermann’s smears of Scott Brown prove.

Don’t think the “murder” choice was an accident, either.  Alan Grayson stopped just short of this accusation on the floor of the House when he read off the numbers and names of people he claims were killed by the insurance companies, accusing ObamaCare opponents of at least passive complicity in their deaths.  Expect to hear more of this from Matthews in coming weeks, and also expect to hear more Mass Hysteria on MS-NBC.

Some one needs to ask Chrissy how the “tea bags” tasted today.

That pic of matthews in the video looks like he’s straining to drop a deuce.

How dumb does he think his audience is?

Apparently he knows his audience well ;-)

jgdp on January 20, 2010 at 12:34 PM

One of the most schadenfreudig things last night was to watch Chris’ face – he looked like a dead man still breathing, but only slightly.

He also said “…for some clown on Fox to comment”.

How sweet it is.

Schadenfreude on January 20, 2010 at 12:38 PM

First, can we quit saying that “health care” got killed?

Yes, it’s driving me nuts. Hannity and other conservatives do it all the time.

These guys should know better than to adopt the liberals’ language. The other one I can’t stand is referring to CO2 generically as “emissions”. That makes it sound an awful lot like actual pollution.

Screw you Matthews, and stick it in you ear or the orifice of your choice.

You think last night was historic? Did you feel you were on precipice of crying on this historic occasion?

We watched MSNBC quite a bit last night just for the comedy. About ten minutes before the polls closed they were already calling it for Brown. Then when they started reporting numbers they actually had the totals add to more than 100% and they didn’t include any numbers for Kennedy. And the disappointment as they watched the “solid” democrat districts of Boston to come in. Miss Chris lost his tingle entirely.

DanMan on January 20, 2010 at 1:23 PM

Nice… Hey Crissy… Come on over and I’ll dip my tea bags in the crap stain you call a mouth.

RalphyBoy on January 20, 2010 at 1:29 PM

The word “murder” implies unlawful killing.

This is more like justifiable homicide based on self-defense. Or maybe capital punishment.

RINO in Name Only on January 20, 2010 at 1:31 PM

Chrissy needs to get a bottle, rent Brokeback Mountain and invite some of his closest friends over before his wife gets home.

He knows that you never waste a good tingle.

bluegrass on January 20, 2010 at 1:35 PM

Health care isn’t a living being. I have no qualms at all about killing a piece of legislation.

Of course, if health care WAS a person, the Dems would be fine with killing it.

forest on January 20, 2010 at 12:39 PM

I know exactly what you mean. We’re still losing the fight on “homocide” bombers on Fox, where most of their shows have adopted the MSMs term “suicide” bombers. Letting your opponent define you is bad news, and makes me mad.

So I try to calm down, just take a deep breath, and exhale slowly. Then I remember that I’m emitting “dangerous emissions” and get a good laugh out of it.

hawksruleva on January 20, 2010 at 2:00 PM

We have the best health-care system in the world, especially in terms of innovation.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Looks like it’s not just the Dems who are deluded. Both sides are hopeless.

MrX on January 20, 2010 at 11:03 AM

The elite & the healthy in a socialist system usually have nothing to complain about concerning their rationed healthcare.
The elite & healthy in a republic don’t have anything to complain about, either.
The poor in a republic may have something to complain about bcs:
runaway lawsuits make it more expensive
the govt’s paw in the pie skews the cost
In a republic, the poor can manage their health care costs by:
1. buying bare bones coverage with a high deductible & save their $$ for the day thay may need an exspensive procedure
2. get an education, work harder, entrepreneur etc.. to make more $$
3. not buying coverage when they are young & potentially healthy & SAVE for a rainy day
In a socialist society, the poor can manage their health care costs by:
1. making more $$
Innovation happens when there is a profit to be made & sometimes when the govt backs R&D-but that isn’t the norm.
Money talks.
That is why our system works the best.
I challenge you to find a larger number of physicians in one country that provide the best care & knowledge to cure & manage diseases, etc.
Why do you think people from all over the world, 3rd world countries, Canada, U.K., etc come to the USA when they have a problem no one else can fix?
Hmmm?
The exceptions are few & far between.

Matthews: Electing Brown “deliberate, premeditated murder … of health care”

And he figured that out all by himself. He must have been pre-occupied with something else when Brown promised to kill ObamaCare. Like….a thousand times.

BobMbx on January 20, 2010 at 4:58 PM

Chrissie, you;re acting as if killing Obamacare is a bad thing!

We’re giddy here in Massachusetts that we’re the state that is going to stop Obamacare!!

ToddonCapeCod on January 20, 2010 at 4:58 PM

I really don’t know which is worse: Dems’ over-dramatic metaphors or their shrillery every time a conservatives approaches them in imagery. Every time Dems want to make a point is all “murder” and “Nazi” and “fear” and “anger” and “lizard brain” and then they scream if we were to call them less than sincere.

Actually, Chris, we aborted it. It seemed like the country didn’t want “to be punished” with a special needs program. It just cramps our style.

Doesn’t sound so bad if we just aborted it….

However, I don’t recall Republicans wanting to kill reform…they just, like the rest of us, don’t want your kind of reform. A complete government takeover of our lives is not in the DNA of this country.

I listened to a few minutes of libtalk radio today. (A few minutes was all I could stomach). They really, honestly, truly and wholeheartedly think this happened because Obama went too far CENTER…and is not giving Americans a full-fledged public option.

They just don’t get it. At all.

When will people of his ilk figure it out, the people of Massachusetts want to be Americans, not Europeans. We are who we are, stop trying to bend us to your will, it won’t happen.
Once upon a time, people from all over the world, came here to be free, now, we have people like Ubberdoosh telling us that we need more of what we left. Keith, I get it, if you want a fascist nation, find one, move. This is America, the Constitution IS the law, don’t twist it, spin it, it is what it is, PROBLEM?

You can scream till your head explodes, if it does, good.

Matthews: Electing Brown “deliberate, premeditated murder … of health care”

**

Well, duh, YES! That’s one of the messages Brown ran on and The HEAVILY democrat populated state showed the world last night just THAT! The HEAVILY democrat state voted for a republican to STOP health care. If the HEAVILY democrat populated state WANTED health care, they would’ve voted FOR the democrat – they DIDN’T!

So, yes, Matthews – “(DEMOCRATS) Electing Brown “deliberate, premeditated murder … of health care”. The 12% of republicans who live there didn’t do it, so who you gonna blame NOW?

brendy on January 20, 2010 at 10:57 PM

Thanks to the Patriots of Massachusetts we now have a senator that can stop the Obama agenda in its tracks and good ole’ Chrissy can whine all he wants. What will the man do when this Revolution hits the whole country in November and we dump all those bad dems who were trying to stick it to us yesterday before Scott Brown came into our lives? Hey Chrissy..Scott Brown = Death Panel on Obamacare. Got that?

“The Thrill is gone, it will not return til 2012.”

MSGTAS on January 21, 2010 at 9:45 AM

It wouldn’t be murder. It would be self-defense. And defending our families to kill it. No jury would convict.

It is a bit ridiculous to think Dems can only pass their programs if they have 60 votes.

When Republicans are in power they govern from the center so they can get the votes from both sides.

Only really, really, really, bad, legislation needs a filibuster proof majority.
