Brown’s win was a big step in the right direction for the GOP. Brown is not a wingnut like Rush Limbaugh or a moron like Sarah Palin. It remains to be seen if the GOP can get more Scott Browns in November or if they will field more Sarah Palin/Joe the Plumber/Sean Hannity/Michele Bachmann type nut boxes.

Well, that certainly was a case of damning with faint praise — or was it praising with strong damnation?

With all respect, what Brown did was to leverage the anger of the People at a government which insists on spending far beyond its means — risking us all landing in the modern day debtor’s prison caused by borrowing from our kids to create for ourselves a public debt double or triple what it was when our generation first came into power.

Joe the Plumber stated his dream — to be left alone to earn the money he needs to expand his business. At the time, Obama claimed richness (the people who can afford to pay for the rest of us) would be measured at income levels above $250,000. The latest legislation drops that level to $75,000, and I suspect that number alarms a lot of people.

To put it bluntly, Brown’s message was identical to that of Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, and Joe the Plumber — get the Government out of our wallets! And, to paraphrase another famous American, “he won!”.
