Quotes of the day

posted at 10:30 pm on January 18, 2010 by Allahpundit

“Brown has run on the core Tea Party issues of fiscal responsibility, limited government, and a strong national defense, while appealing to a broader swath of voters by emphasizing integrity, independence, and willingness to stand up to machine politics. After a year’s worth of Obama’s phony fruits and congressional foxes guarding the henhouse, voters have had enough of the enablers and water-carriers. Unlike Frum, Brown is channeling the energies of taxpayers of all stripes who are disgusted and angry — yes, ANGRY! – with the culture of corruption in Washington. That is how Brown has struck common ground with his insurgent center-right-indie coalition: By stepping up to oppose the Dems’ plans to rig the game and undermine representative government, instead of sneering at angry taxpayers’ ‘ideological extremism’/'paranoia’ and instead of trashing the talk radio networks through which those angry taxpayers communicate, commiserate, and organize.

“Reality check: With his small-town, anti-elitist appeal, Brown’s campaign has much more in common with Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber populism than it does with David Frum and Beltway GOP Re-Branding defeatism. Yes, we can all get along — except for those Washington worrywarts too busy pissing on the very same right-wing ‘rancor’ that is fueling 2010’s GOP comeback.”

***
“MA Senate Race: here’s hoping Mr. Brown goes to Washington…in a pick-up truck,no less!MA pls vote tomrrw & elect a hardworking independent

***
“It is one thing to entertain bizarre conspiracy theories about Sarah Palin, Dick Cheney, and so on. It is another to sloppily regurgitate partisan Democratic whine about the current political environment that has no basis in reality. Does he ever look in the mirror and entertain the thought that Obama and the Dems are suffering now because his hyperventilating, sycophantic paeans to Obama — and those of his fellow travelers in the establishment media — set up unrealistic expectations? Naaaaaaaah.

***
“Obermann calls Brown a ‘homophobic racist reactionary’ who ‘supports violence against women.’ How reckless and how sad.”

Well, I just don’t know where to start with this rambling, ridiculous tirade against Scott Brown.

Just a couple of items: It ISN’T NORMAL for two women to have a baby, it is physically impossible without the help of a man’s contribution. I am a tea partier (thank you very much, I prefer to use the correct and civil term). I am NOT homophobic, I am not racist, I am not led around the nose by ANYONE or any party.

KO is so ridiculous, he doesn’t deserve any press. He barely deserves my time to respond to any of his rants.

Tomorrow, on a gray, cold-to-the-bone wintry day will begin the Second American Revolut!on against tyranny, in the very place where the first one sprouted.

While this time we will fire not bullets, but ballots, the shots will be heard round the world. Again.

To our countrymen in that place, on that battlefield, once again liberty rests in your arms.

While we have funded and voluteered and prayed for this re-awakening, only you, our Massachussets heroes, can through your feet and fingers light the match.

The RNC should make it very clear to MSNBC that in light of Olbermannn’s comments no Republican of national standing will appear on MSNBC until an apology is given. There is criticism and political commentary that can be hard-hitting at times, but Olbermann’s comments when beyond – way, way, beyond – that line.

i just watched most of the chris matthews ‘live special on RACE: OBAMA’S AMERICA beyond 2010′ or something like that. made me so mad i wanted to throw the remote at the tv.

here’s the recap:

conservatives, tea partiers, republicans = bad, racist birthers

at one point chris took a poll of the audience and asked if they thought birthers were racist, with 100% raising their hands

biggest applause line of the night was when one of the commentators said “of course the tea partiers are about race, i didnt see them protest when george bush was doing it”

guy is an idiot. did he miss the immigration meltdown in ’05-06? did he miss conservatives STAYING HOME in nov 2006? or nov 2008?

oh, and let me add: the deck was stacked b/c of chrissy and b/c of the limp gop types they had there. but i think it would be great if someone who wanted to actually defend conservatism would do a town hall geared towards the aa community in 2012.

i just wish someone would stand up and say “every social and economic indicator has gotten WORSE for blacks since the 60s, ditto education, family statistics, etc. what’s the common denominator throughout? VOTING DEMOCRAT pushing their ‘we will take care of you’ tripe!”

THAT would start an actual worthwhile talk on race: both parties were rough to blacks, but big govt liberals have destroyed black america

hilaroius stuff from politico – rahm blames everyone but obama, and everyone else blames obama

wow. – look at how incompetent these douches are….the ras or PPP poll was the only thing that alerted him? What an idiot. what a joke the dems senate guys are.

“We lost independents in Virginia, we lost independents in New Jersey and we’re losing independents in Massachusetts,” said one Democratic campaign strategist. “The only thing those three states have in common is Obama.”

Menendez learned that the race was tightening about a week and a half ago, when independent pollsters returned results showing the race much tighter than Democratic polls had been portraying. He acted quickly — unleashing more than $2.5 million into the race, including $1.4 million in television ads in the past week alone, according to sources familiar with the effort.

The DSCC also dispatched senior staff to take tighter control of the Coakley campaign, bolster her get-out-the-vote efforts, improve her fundraising and enhance coordination between the White House and the campaign. As a result, the tone of her ads and her stump speech were sharpened in an attempt to define Brown in the minds of the voters as a far-right Republican out of touch with the state’s mainstream voters.

“Look, we’re never in place of a campaign; a candidate has to run their own race,” Menendez told POLITICO. “When the alarm bells went off, we sprung into action.”

Emanuel has told his confidants that those bells rang too late — and that both Menendez and Lake, who declined to be interviewed, should have been moving sooner.

But the White House itself is facing a barrage of criticism among Democrats, with many saying that Obama has let the GOP frame the issues — particularly health care — in the minds of many independent voters, including those who elected Republican governors in Virginia and New Jersey in the fall.

“We lost independents in Virginia, we lost independents in New Jersey and we’re losing independents in Massachusetts,” said one Democratic campaign strategist. “The only thing those three states have in common is Obama.”

We really need to start a petition to get Olberman off of the air…

His statements are beyond any reasonable conversation and in my opinion, liable.

Seriously, ALL of his sponsors need to hear from us.
