Quotes of the day
posted at 10:30 pm on January 18, 2010 by Allahpundit
“Brown has run on the core Tea Party issues of fiscal responsibility, limited government, and a strong national defense, while appealing to a broader swath of voters by emphasizing integrity, independence, and willingness to stand up to machine politics. After a year’s worth of Obama’s phony fruits and congressional foxes guarding the henhouse, voters have had enough of the enablers and water-carriers. Unlike Frum, Brown is channeling the energies of taxpayers of all stripes who are disgusted and angry — yes, ANGRY! – with the culture of corruption in Washington. That is how Brown has struck common ground with his insurgent center-right-indie coalition: By stepping up to oppose the Dems’ plans to rig the game and undermine representative government, instead of sneering at angry taxpayers’ ‘ideological extremism’/'paranoia’ and instead of trashing the talk radio networks through which those angry taxpayers communicate, commiserate, and organize.
“Reality check: With his small-town, anti-elitist appeal, Brown’s campaign has much more in common with Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber populism than it does with David Frum and Beltway GOP Re-Branding defeatism. Yes, we can all get along — except for those Washington worrywarts too busy pissing on the very same right-wing ‘rancor’ that is fueling 2010’s GOP comeback.”
***
“MA Senate Race: here’s hoping Mr. Brown goes to Washington…in a pick-up truck,no less!MA pls vote tomrrw & elect a hardworking independent”
***
“It is one thing to entertain bizarre conspiracy theories about Sarah Palin, Dick Cheney, and so on. It is another to sloppily regurgitate partisan Democratic whine about the current political environment that has no basis in reality. Does he ever look in the mirror and entertain the thought that Obama and the Dems are suffering now because his hyperventilating, sycophantic paeans to Obama — and those of his fellow travelers in the establishment media — set up unrealistic expectations? Naaaaaaaah.”
***
“Obermann calls Brown a ‘homophobic racist reactionary’ who ‘supports violence against women.’ How reckless and how sad.”

And yes, I am very, very nervous.
If that woman wins, it will be by totally cheating crooks. I hope the people of MA take to the streets with pitchforks should that happen.

wow. dudes, coax lost because coax ran a horrible campaign. below is from the politico lead article that just posted….
what a moron. that’s campaigning 101. i ran a few of these for cainer in the primaries. yes, i worked in field ops for cainer during the primaries, it was like the wild west, no structure, but that’s not the point.
the point is its literally the most basic part of running field operations to tag voters early and call back intermittently with those tagged voters with separate scripts for each type of voter so tagged..
this is why they are losing – they dont have voter lists with tags on each voter (coax or brown, strong or soft, any lean to either, undecided)
that’s why that tpm guy above was bitching about his OFA calls – he didnt understand why so many brown voters on the list and why the coax voters weren’t leaners or undecided and why the script wasnt tailored to the voter tag.
you always call every self identifier the weekend before and day before and work on the browns and leans and undecided. that’s how its done.
i just cant believe she didnt do this. I can’t explain in words how incompetent this is………..
Democrats recognize the difficulty any candidate would have had, given the political headwinds blowing against the party at the moment. Still, they argue that the race was still very much winnable and that a veteran pol such as Rep. Michael Capuano — who was trounced by Coakley in the primary — would not have let Brown define the race.
Instead, they complain that Coakley effectively ceded to her opponent the day-to-day news coverage — what political pros call “earned media” — by not taking him seriously enough until it was too late.
Coakley was so confident, noted one fuming Democrat, that she even stopped the critical task of identifying supporters on the phone following the primary — the very foundation on which she should have structured her turnout operation.

You’re a God Dmned liar, Olbermann.

Keep it up, KO, you glorious nutbag.

Somebody put a muzzle on that one Democratic campaign strategist. We want Obama out there campaigning. He is the best weapon the republicans candidates have right now to sway Independant voters. Poor Obama doesn’t realize that he has become the strength-zapping nemesis i.e., kryptonite for the DNC and Democrats running for anything these days. Qué lástima!

Even RINO McCain was painted as “FAR RIGHT” “NEO-CON”.

The only way to fight liberalism is TO FIGHT TIL THE END!
Win or lose … Kudos to Brown! [But winning would be SO SO SO KEWL!]

Hey, Keithy, I went to two tea parties. Let me search my heart real good and see if I harbor any hate:
Nope, no hate there. No racism either. Just a good heap of anger aimed at blowhards on loser networks who make waaaaay more than you’re worth.
Grace_is_sufficient on January 19, 2010 at 4:58 AM
Yup, it’s all about “framing.” It’s not about reality, the economic burdens this bill produces, the loss of personal freedom. It’s not about those at all: it’s about how you “frame” the debate.
In Obama’s case, that translates into how many lies he can tell in the space of 60 minutes, and then have the media cover his tracks by reframing the framing.
We don’t have a President. We have an illusion.
Nichevo on January 19, 2010 at 5:30 AM
There seems to be an amplification in Olbermann’s “I hate America and all things conservative” lately. Of course, the meter is tough to gage when it’s always pegged on the ridiculously absurd side of the scale.
My guess is, Olby has about 3-6 months left, (or when-ever his contract runs out), until comcast looks at the real numbers, and realizes that throwing money into the toilet—for the soul purpose of bashing a former president and conservative values—is not worth a time slot that produces an audience that couldn’t fill a west Texas football stadium.
Desperation breeds stupidity, but in Keith Olbermann’s case, the man has always been stupid. Now he’s desperate too.
Rovin on January 19, 2010 at 5:56 AM

That’s because Brown ran a smart professional campaign while Coakley was a complete idiot. If you want to get elected Senator in Mass, you do not make Curt Schilling an issue to the point he is all over the news last night wearing a Scott Brown sweatshirt!
What has been most surprising to me is the number of liberal pundits that pretty much think Coakley is going to lose today. I won’t believe it until it happens since Mass. Dems are as good as any when it comes to voter fraud, intimidation, and other dirty tricks but it would be wonderful to hand yet another defeat to the filthy lying coward in the White House.

OmahaConservative on January 19, 2010 at 8:01 AM
He has been working in the background
..And it was Romney, Fehrnstrom pointed out, who in September encouraged Brown to wage a campaign for the seat that had been held by Ted Kennedy since 1962.
“When no one else would give Scott Brown a second look, Mitt provided financial support through his political action committee, held fundraisers in Massachusetts for him and used his national mailing list to raise funds,” said Fehrnstrom…
“There’s no one who has done more behind the scenes and in front of the scenes than Mitt,” added Ron Kaufman, a Republican National Committeeman and Romney ally who is informally advising the Brown campaign.
Certainly, the Romney stamp is all over the Brown campaign. His top political lieutenants from the 2008 White House run now form the upper echelon of Brown’s team: Beth Myers, who served as Romney’s campaign manager; Peter Flaherty, who served as an adviser; and Fehrnstrom, who was a campaign press secretary, are all working for Brown.
Beth Lindstrom, a cabinet official in Romney’s administration, is Brown’s campaign manager. Priscilla Ruzzo, who did direct mail for Romney’s presidential campaign, is Brown’s finance director. Felix Browne, a deputy press secretary in the governor’s office, is taking on press duties for the Senate effort.
Buy Danish on January 19, 2010 at 8:04 AM
Well, internal polls show a dead heat, while Politico reports that Brown has pulled away and is in double digits, with Coakley in a freefall. One out of four Dems switching to Brown.
Should be a very interesting day!
