Rasmussen: Three different Republicans within six points of Boxer in California

posted at 5:24 pm on January 15, 2010 by Allahpundit

Deep blue state, profoundly unlikeable Democrat, heavy baggage from Hopenchange, Republican upstart uncomfortably close: This sounds familiar. Like Castellanos said — no one is safe.

America looks forward to addressing her as “ma’am” again.

In California, 49% favor the health care plan, while 48% oppose it. But as in other states, the emotion is on the side of the opponents: Just 25% of California voters Strongly Favor the plan while 39% Strongly Oppose it.

Perhaps even more significantly, 55% of California voters rate the U.S. economy as poor, while just seven percent (7%) think it’s good or excellent. Golden State voters are evenly divided over whether the economy is improving: 36% say it’s getter better, while 35% say it’s getting worse. Twenty-five percent (25%) believe it’s staying about the same.

“Any incumbent who polls below 50% at this point in the season is considered potentially vulnerable,” noted Scott Rasmussen, president of Rasmussen Reports. “However, vulnerable incumbents still have the power of their office and still have a decent chance of winning. The Democratic leaning political gravity of California will certainly give Senator Boxer a boost in that effort.”…

The fact that Boxer’s support is frozen at 46% against all GOP challengers suggest that the race for now is about her rather than those running against her.

Fiorina pulls 43 percent, DeVore 40, and Tom Campbell, whom I’ve never heard of, nets a cool 42, putting all three well within the margin of error against … a three-term incumbent. Taking her down would be as sweet as taking down Reid, frankly: She’s further left than he is, just as personally nasty, and would be as glorious a trophy coming from big blue as Dingy is as majority leader. It’ll be much harder to beat her, sure, but given the fine job Democrats have done with California’s economy, voters there should be even more primed than Massachusetts for a Senate shocker. Remember, the big storyline in the midterms may well end up having less to do with the GOP than with visceral anti-incumbent sentiment. We’ll take it. AP pessimism meter check: 8.0, indicating near-certain soul-crushing defeat, down from 10.0 yesterday, indicating “abandon all hope, ye who enter here.”

Tom Campbell was a Lib Republican congressman from the Bay area two different times, both times leaving the House to run for the Senate (’92 and ’00, I think). He’s also been a professor at Standford and a Dean at Berkley. Currently running for Gov.

We’re already going to be rid of Dorgan and Dodd no matter what. Harry Reid is likely gone. Arlen Specter and Barbara Boxer could be going, too.

I’m fired up, but weary at the same time. For some states, I think a change, and explaining why a change is needed to die hard libs, is the equivelant of banging ones head into a wall.

But when the taxes come due on this health care crap, and they try and push crap, and tax on us…..2010 may wind up being a breeze. Most of them want the changes, but they want others to pay for them. The unions are a good example of that. Once this crap is shoved down our throats, I can’t imagine liberal states, who are already over taxed now, embracing any incumbant that insists this is good for them.

As Badgerhawk was good enough to point over in the Brown/Coakley thread, Mass has a registration requirement of two before election day and Coakley was up around 30pts at the time. With the deadline passed and Brown’s surge coming so late, the Dhim’s Stormtroopers (AFSCME,SEIU,ACORN, Etal) won’t have trhe necessary prepatory time for their usual subversion. Good news to be sure as Mass has a more than adequate “machine” in place to facilitate thses ops.

But, with Babs looking vulnerable this far out, the are sure not to repeat that mistake even given the traditional safety of the seat. Mass has alerted them that the “safely blue” mindset has been rendered inoperable. If Brown actually pulls a red-rabbit out of a boston tri-corner Tuesday night, the Gestapo, Waffen SS and any goon with patent leather jackboots will be conscripted into voter fraud ops nation-wide.

It is going to come down to a numbers game. How many Dhimmi-seats are truly threatened in ’10, versus the number of community organizers, union thugs and Moonbats on a Kool-Aid binge they can bring to the fight.

Brown vs Coakley has made it official folks, IT’S ON! We’re on a war-time footing from here on out, and its gonna get ugly before all is said and done. Time for patriots to rally to Old Glory and save the Republic.

There are a few different ways of looking at these crappy numbers for the Socialists…er, Democrats:

1– after Boxer, Reid, Dodd, etc all lose (or ‘retire’) they can all get federal appointments from the Chairman. So…they’re gone..but not really

2- after Boxer, Reid, Dodd, etc all lose (or ‘retire’) they can start their own counter movement to the Tea Partiers..they can call themselves the ‘Tossers.’

Dick Turpin on January 15, 2010 at 6:06 PM

Suck it Ma’am.

Monica on January 15, 2010 at 6:08 PM

In California, 49% favor the health care plan, while 48% oppose it. But as in other states, the emotion is on the side of the opponents: Just 25% of California voters Strongly Favor the plan while 39% Strongly Oppose it.

See?? I told you guys were not all insane in this state! Just 49% of us…

Perhaps even more significantly, 55% of California voters rate the U.S. economy as poor, while just seven percent (7%) think it’s good or excellent.

That 7% is probably San Francisco and Berkeley, where living off the government teat is seen as a birthright.

As for Tom Campbell, he was in the gubernatorial race, where he was going nowhere. So, he switched to the senate race. He really doesn’t care about “serving” or doing a good job: it’s obvious he just wants any elected position, so he can enjoy the perks.

DeVore all the way, baby.
