Pelosi: The GOP’s midterm buzz is all hype; CNN poll: GOP by three on generic ballot
posted at 4:46 pm on January 15, 2010 by Allahpundit
She doesn’t have many endearing qualities but I’ve always been fond of Madam Speaker’s almost cheerful lameness in pushing her party’s talking points. Remember her chuckling over how much of a liar Obama’s been on health care before robotically insisting that this has been the most transparent process evah?
She’s outdone herself.
In a fundraising e-mail to Democratic supporters, Pelosi said that the Democratic agenda is moving the country forward and the Democrats toward victory this fall.
“Republicans are in full-blown ‘spin mode’ attacking the president and claiming he has lost support,” she wrote. “But that is just hype and hyperbole. You and I know better — together we are moving America forward.”
Sounds good. Back in reality, for only the third time in 15 years of CNN snapshots, Republicans are out to a three-point lead on the generic ballot. Hardly a big lead, though, right? Wrong:
Forty-nine percent of Republicans questioned in the poll say they’re extremely or very enthusiastic about voting this year, up 6 points from November. Thirty-one percent of Democrats say they’re enthusiastic, down 11 points.
“Democrats face a huge ‘enthusiasm gap,’ and that gap is growing,” says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. “But the poll indicates that roughly half of all registered voters may change their minds between now and Election Day, so there is plenty of time for the playing field to change.”…
The poll paints a … picture in more competitive districts, those where the incumbent won with less than 55 percent of the vote in 2008. In those districts, the poll indicates Democrats are currently facing a 27-point deficit, with 59 percent of registered voters in the competitive districts now saying they would vote for the Republican candidate for U.S. House if the election were held tomorrow, and only 32 percent that they would choose the Democratic candidate.
27 points. Meanwhile, Cool Hand Luke’s promising to turn the midterms into, um, a referendum on health care. Maybe he … wants the GOP to take back Congress? It did wonders for Clinton.
No worries, though, lefty readers. Once he and Axelrod go out there and sell it — for real this time, not the way they’ve been selling it for the past eight months — it’s all going to turn around.
Update: Okay, sure, The One’s numbers are in the toilet right now, but that’s only because he’s having a rough patch, right? He’ll recover! Charlie Cook: “[N]o president in [the past] half-century has seen his approval rating go up, even as much as 1 point, between the end of his first year and the eve of his first midterm election.”

Can we please drug-test the Speaker? Now?
I have a feeling she’s on something. Nobody can willingly be this stupid, obtuse or ignorant unless they’re hopped up on illegal psychotropic substances or hallucinogenic drugs.

Well, actually this is good. Let Nasty reassure her followers that all is well and it is just hype. She can lull them into complacency and let us conservatives get on with it. We have a job a to do and Nasty just made it easier than she already has.

Sort of amazing that the “smartest people” shot all of Obama’s political capital on a turd of a bill that will probably fail. I don’t know where the left gets off calling Palin dumb when they are the kings of stupid.

Yeah. Even when those talking points become old, worn out, wrinkled and saggy, she always manages to pull, stretch, and yank those talking points to appear young and fresh. But after a while, those talking points begin to show the wear of constant tugging and pulling, to the end that the picture begins to simply look sad and futile. Old, worthless, helpless talking points; stretched over the bare bones of a flawed ideology.

When the Republicans take back the House, will Nancy retire? How can she willingly accept being pushed to the back of the bus, after her awesomely awesome leadership is no longer required?

Translation: Anyone in a district that isn’t heavily gerrymandered like the ones Pelosi, Sheila Jackson-Lee, et all represent are going to be trying to ice-skate uphill in November 2010.
It’ll be interesting to see how big the turnover is if this holds up.

No worries, though, lefty readers. Once Democrats go out there and implement neo-socialism in America, it’s going to be your utopian dreamcome true.

I’d make a comment about a city besieged and someone hiding in their bunker before the end, but I’d just be invoking Godwin’s Law with my analogy.

That’s interesting, because I’ve always felt that I was watching a genuinely insane person speak when she goes on like that in the face of all evidence to the contrary. Rahm’s boy is Hoyer. They’re going to blame her for whatever showing the House has in the mid-terms, so even if the Dems maintain control, she’s gone. Nancy is smart to all of this which is why she busts Obama’s balls at every chance. Control of the Senate is more important to Obama in the long run since House numbers are fluid.

Ouch!! This quote from Cook is amazing. Talk about a sophomore jinx! But evidently the leftwingers are counting on Obama to do what Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Carter, Reagan, GHW Bush, Clinton, and GW Bush could not (I don’t think Ford counts for this particular polling issue).
So yeah, lefties, run in November on the Obama agenda. Bring it on!

There simply have to be substantial portions of Pelosi’s brain that have shut down altogether. No real surprise if true, but some researcher at the National Institutes of Mental Health is missing out on a lifetime research project funding if (s)he were to corral Nancy for further study.
ya2daup on January 15, 2010 at 5:15 PM
Clinically. Insane.
Can you imagine the scene when she’s forced to give up the gavel . . . ? It’s going to be like an SNL skit with her wincing, refusing to let go, crying and blubbering something nonsensical.

You’ve been abusing your power the whole nation around
But that reign of terror of yours will someday come to an end
Hey woman, you lie until you’ve dug yourself way into the ground
The truth way beyond any recognition you do bend
E-evil woman, e-evil woman, e-evil woman, evil woman
That’s a dead end road that leads to you know where
So you just make whatever hay you can between here and there
There’s a hole in your soul where all the abusing and lying comes from
Soon you’ll be scrambling to get out of town like a bum
E-evil woman, e-evil woman, e-evil woman, evil woman
Ha ha woman its a crying shame
But when you finally get your just deserts you’ll have no one else to blame
E-evil woman, e-evil woman, e-evil woman, evil woman
E-evil woman, e-evil woman, e-evil woman, evil woman

Actually, aside from Lewinsky, it probably did help. Because the Republican agenda cut welfare, balanced the budget, killed HillaryCare, and so forth, Clinton was able to ride a wave of prosperity they generated and then pretend it was his doing.
The GOP could save Obama in a similar fashion.

Pelosi is toxic. She’s the Crypt Keeper. She isn’t terribly bright. In fact, she’s incredibly stupid.
Bottom line is that she’s a cunning, political animal, and she could lock your nuts up faster than Hillary Clinton.

Even if it is years before this woman is removed from her throne, she will go down as the absolute worst speaker this country has ever seen. She will go down as having damaged the country more than any speaker ever. She will go down as the most devious and conniving and dishonest and vindictive speaker ever. With the exception of Obama, Pelosi would have to be the biggest bullsh$t artist in politics today. The only problem is that she is not very good at it and arrogantly believes that her lame attempts at spin are being swallowed hook line and sinker by the general public. That kind of self delusion in politics can only come about as a result of having a press corp that is just as delusional and self righteous as she is and being the representative for what is considered a relatively safe democrat Congressional district.

My only qualms for Brown winning are:
will it make healthcare a non issue in the 2010 midterms because dems will then not have to vote for final passage,
or does it mean that every democrap Senator and nominee in races against Republican Senators will be mauled on health care because a change of even one vote to the democrap column could resurrect this monstrous bill next year if the dems pick up that one vote in the midterms?
I will take the risk of a Brown win, and Sir Galahad slaying the democrap dragons in the fall over their rough riding the american people for the past two years.
