Quotes of the day
posted at 10:51 pm on January 14, 2010 by Allahpundit
“In October 2005, a Somerville police officer living in Melrose raped his 23-month-old niece with a hot object, most likely a curling iron.
“Keith Winfield, then 31, told police he was alone with the toddler that day and made additional statements that would ultimately be used to convict him.
“But in the aftermath of the crime, a Middlesex County grand jury overseen by Martha Coakley, then the district attorney, investigated without taking action. It was only after the toddler’s mother filed applications for criminal complaints that Coakley won grand jury indictments charging rape and assault and battery.
“Even then, nearly 10 months after the crime, Coakley’s office recommended that Winfield be released on personal recognizance, with no cash bail. He remained free until December 2007, when Coakley’s successor as district attorney won a conviction and two life terms.”

Ken Pittman: Right, if you are a Catholic, and believe what the Pope teaches that any form of birth control is a sin. ah you don’t want to do that.
Martha Coakley: No we have a separation of church and state Ken, let’s be clear.
Ken Pittman: In the emergency room you still have your religious freedom.
Martha Coakley: (…stammering) The law says that people are allowed to have that. You can have religious freedom but you probably shouldn’t work in the emergency room.

Wow. Coakley let that MONSTER roam free for two years.

I’d have to hear that radio quote in context. Are they talking about a Catholic hospital? It is wrong to force Catholic hospital to perform medical procedures that are against the institution’s religion, but if they’re talking about a secular setting the employee can’t refuse to, say, hand out birth control pills for religious reasons. Which would make Coakley right (as much as it pains me to say it).

Question: Is Marta Coakley and Didi Scosafava the same person? I’m not kidding. Coakley misspelling the NAME OF HER OWN STATE is as bad as Didi standing in front of her opponents office challenging him to a debate. Am I wrong? How do these party chairmen find these people??????????
ranzofola on January 15, 2010 at 12:22 AM
There are a huge number of Catholic hospitals in Massachusetts. And there have been many attempts by liberals to force Catholic hospitals to perform abortions. So I strongly suspect they were talking about a rule that would apply to all hospitals, whether they like it or not.

May God once again shine His light on the breadbasket of freedom, in a place called Massachusetts, which helped give life to a nation of people against tyranny.
How fitting our Second Revolution could begin in a place where in 1773 crates of tea were thrown, in defiance and in rebellion, into the sea.
We start on Tuesday the new Revolution.

Mere moments before your post, I was wondering how Brooks feels at this very moment realizing this idiot is a member in good standing of his beloved “educated class”.
So what if this woman considers herself an expert on foreign policy because her sister lives in London? So what if she condemned a heart patient to die just to further her own career? So what if she tried to help a baby raper go free to curry favor with his politically influential father while she allowed another innocent man to languish in prison for a child molestation he did not commit? At least she didn’t do anything so terminally gauche as graduate from (gasp!) the University of Idaho, you betcha.

My other question is how does Coakley or Scosafava not know they’re absolute morons. Who on earth is convincing them that it’s a really good idea for them to run for office. The’re so incompetent they shouldn’t be allowed to run around the block for fear they’d swerve out in the middle of the street and get hit by a car. There ought to be a law specifically stating Coakley and Scosafava are not allowed to carry anything sharper than a childs safety scissors. How does their campaign managers even keep a straight face when defending their actions or promoting these candidates!!!!! What does it say about the President that he’d even want these useless boobs taking up space on the floor of the senate!!!! How on earth have we come to this??????? As much as this is laughable, this is also such a powerful indicator as to why we’re in the mess we’re in right now!!! Aahh, that was a good rant. I feel better now.

She is a member of the same Obama/Holder/Democratic/Progressive/Soros funded and Alinsky inspired group.
Don’t worry too much for Ms. Coakley should she lose the Senate seat – Podesta has a nice warm spot for her on the Soros bench.
Go ahead and vote against the American electorate. Go ahead and enjoy your loss of office and respect. Ask Senator Nelson what supper was like this evening and how Mr. Feingold was greeted over the break.
Perhaps Obama/Soros/Podesta have opportunities for those legislators who must be sacrificed to further their radical agenda.

Brown still has to beat the margin of fraud in a deep blue cesspit.
And where in the hell is the RNC in this. They ought to be encouraging Republican poll observers in EVERY hall, and be setting up a rapid-reporting tally system and a stack of lawyers so they can IMMEDIATELY challenge any district whose reported tally varies wildly from the observers report. And file injuctions to have the voting materials sequestered from tampering, pending investigation.
Democrats WILL steal this election.

Pffft.
That’s nothing.
As far as child molesters go, he was a piker.
Coakley had Father John Geoghan dead to rights but declined to prosecute, allowing him another SEVEN YEARS to diddle little kids.
It is really hard to comprehend exactly how immoral this woman really is. A Catholic that is 100% pro-choice? An AG that would step in and deny a person a heart transplant? I could go on, and you know I could, but my fingers are getting sore.
Brown was telling a radio host the other day that he drove into his driveway the other night and someone had placed a box on top of his now famous pickup truck (someone else was driving Scott around apparently).
Once he convinced himself that it was safe, he looked inside. Someone had left him thousands of pages of depositions related to Coakley.
I don’t know what was in that box, but it doesn’t take long searching google to come up with quite a few Massachusetts politicians that are being prosecuted by the Federal government for corruption related crimes.
Notice I did not say prosecuted by the Massachusett(e)s Attorney General’s office.

They were supposed to be discussing a 2005 amendment Brown filed that would have allowed workers at religious hospitals to avoid giving emergency contraception to rape victims. The amendment was propsed to clarify the current law which prohibits forcing catholic hospitals to perform abortions and distributing contraceptives. Coakley went off the deep end.
Deanna on January 15, 2010 at 7:24 AM
WOW! Breathtaking!
Dear Emperess Martha, I have another question for you….
what jobs will YOU allow practicing Catholics to have?
It isn’t a very big leap from “Catholics shouldn’t work in an emergency room” to “Catholics are prohibited from working in an emergency room” when liberals are in charge.
olesparkie on January 15, 2010 at 7:27 AM
Gawd you’re a jackass! Where was I “whining”? I asked for more specifics about the context of the quote. What the hell does this have to do with Palin?
I have absolutely no objections to, say, Catholic hospitals refusing to perform abortions. However, it is a slippery slope to make demands for religious exemptions to legal procedures in a setting which has no religious affiliation. Keep in mind that Muslims are using their “religion” to make demands in medical settings which none of us would agree are reasonable.

I’m wondering if Brown peaked early. With the Health Care Bill on the line and so much media atttention, there will be a massive turnout. As much as 140% of the population. It might have been higher if the SEIU wasn’t split beween candidates. And Brown’s side has the police officers.
ROCnPhilly on January 15, 2010 at 8:06 AM
’d have to hear that radio quote in context.
Your other mistake, other than the one pointed out above is that even a secular institution has to make ever reasonable effort to have someone do such duties that it does not offend. Sorry to say.. but they can find someone else to pass out birth control.. it isn’t a life and death “emergency”

right2bright on January 15, 2010 at 9:12 AM
A secular setting would be a hospital or doctor’s office without a religious affiliation, such as a Catholic (or Muslim!) hospital.
But (if I understand you correctly) you are correct to suggest that ObamaCare would weaken those barriers. Indeed, if we eventually end up with a Single Payer System, they would completely crumble. For example, exemptions which currently exist which prevent the federal government from using taxpayer dollars to fund abortions would be null and void since the federal government would be paying the bill for all medical procedures.
Or Amish. Now that that joke is out of the way: Religious arguments only go so far. You cannot deprive a child of medical care because of religious objections. You cannot refuse to pick up a passenger in a taxi cab because they just emerged from a liquor store or bar. These objections are tested in the courts all the time, but they invariably get shot down.

Well Hucks is worse by the fact that he’s republican. All republicans, no matter what, are the only ones to be held to any kind of scrutiny, attacks, and vitriol for their actions. Dems just simply have to be dems, and they’re automatically destined for sainthood.

hawksruleva on January 15, 2010 at 10:30 AM
She may not be evil. I think many Democrats believe in things without thinking them through. That’s why she stammered in her statement above. Pittman lead her dangerously close to the realization that one of her core beliefs was based on flawed arguments.
hawksruleva on January 15, 2010 at 10:31 AM
I really hope you didn’t mean mutt in a genetic sort of way. We need to resist stooping to those sort of attacks. There’s plenty of ammo laying around with which to attack liberals without resorting to ethnic slurs.
hawksruleva on January 15, 2010 at 10:33 AM
How is “mutt” an ethnic slur? Am I missing some context here? Most Americans are “mutts” in the sense that we have mixed heritage (Irish, English, German for me…Polish, Irish, English, German for my daughter). I see this as a strength, not a weakness. Are you referring to people of mixed racial background? I know I don’t get out much but I don’t hear the term “mutt” connected to them.
